Must have been asked. Million times but flat, non-dowdy sandals that won’t shred my feet?

Desperate for recommendations, I’ve got some dr marten sandals that give me toe blisters, some Toms sandals that give me blisters on the soles of my feel- anything with a toe bar immediately hurts! Has anyone found a magic sandal?

I have these fitflop sandals in three colours. Love them

Really like those

and sandals are, by their very nature, rank.

No they aren't.

None of these are perfect but they meet the “not dowdy” brief. The “insoles” and uppers are all leather which helps enormously for comfort. I’ve never gone wrong with Kurt Geiger in that respect.

I’d probably go for the gold ankle wraps but would remove charms, I also like the rafia

Oooh I love these!! Thanks

I think the raffia & the gold ones with charms are the two pairs most likely to (at best) rub, & (at worst) cut into your feet like cheese wire!

The last pair looks the comfiest. It's not just about the sole - though I agree that leather soles/insoles help. The uppers are really important in terms of the straps & fastenings. Thin strips of leather that wind around your foot are almost certain to cut into you, especially if you're out & about in the heat & your feet swell a bit. Much better to have relatively wide-ish straps, lined, with stitching that isn't too coarse, & an adjustable buckle (or velcro, but that usually comes with the more utility-chic sandals, which I don't think you're after, OP?).

I've not tried these, but these are what I would consider quite "pretty" but also likely not to rub/be uncomfortable. Mid-width not overly thin straps.

I have lots of Kurt Geiger sandals and they have never rubbed. Generally I can’t even wear trainers for the first time without my feet being torn to shreds.

i think the fact they’re made out of good quality leather helps enormously and as I said up thread whilst I wouldn’t walk the Camino in them, for a few kms round Lisbon they are great.

Kurt Geiger are one of the hidden gems for comfort in my view - easy to dismiss as high fashion but have lots of smart tweaks for comfort.

if OP is really worried about needing thicker straps they have plenty of flat forms styled along the lines of the Hermes chypre sandal, which are very cool but not pretty enough for me
