What can I carry my keys and phone in now it's too hot for a coat??

I don't really want one of those teeny tiny phone bags but I also don't want a tote

Tbh I resent needing bags at all

What do men carry their stuff in when it's too hot for a coat actually?

Cargo shorts, while much derided, are the most practical item of clothing ever invented. Style with a studded belt, sleeveless band T-shirt and Converse or Vans for the 90s look.

Stoicandhappy · Yesterday 16:45

Your pockets surely?

A lidl carrier bag?

😂🤣😂🤣

SharonBe · Yesterday 17:05

Pockets. Snag do leggings and dresses with actual functional pockets. I'm sure there are many more out there.

I have a keychain with car keys, storage key, house keys etc. I also just have a keychain with just the house key on. This can go in a pocket. Everything I need is then on my phone. Another pocket. If there’s more stuff I need to carry then a cross body bag. There are some styles for men.

Asda sell a t-shirt with a breast pocket. I am wearing mine to do Parkrun this morning. Tesco leggings have/had a phone pocket. I know a woman who keeps her phone in her bra.

Breast pockets don't work with big boobs, so that's not a universal solution.

Do you really carry all that with you on a day out?

I carry a first aid kit. I've needed it too.

Wouldn’t work with very small boobs either 😅

worldshottestmom · Yesterday 19:25

Idk what you were expecting for suggestions, other than a bag.

Levitate your belongings around you? Like the planets orbiting the sun.

KitFox · Yesterday 19:26

Yes a bum bag. Curiously worn at the front!

Gwenhwyfar · Yesterday 20:26

Handbag is much more convenient than pockets and you can get a small handbag if you want. A cross-body one feels like you're wearing it and not carrying it. With pockets things have to be taken out every night and put back in the next day. With a handbag, your purse etc. just stays in.

Sporran.

Or other smallish pouch on a belt. Not easily snatched and you do not need to put it down. Some are made for binoculars.

Cargo pants will hold phone, purse and sunglasses down the legs. They mostly only have a pocket on one leg.

Pockets should not visibly bulge.

I’ve been looking for some new cargo trousers for when I’m doing outdoorsy stuff and don’t want to carry a bag - very few of the women’s ones have pockets big enough for a modern phone let alone everything else. And I’m short so the obvious solution of trying men’s ones won’t work.

PigletJohn · Yesterday 21:02

Would craghoppers suit you?

You'll want the unlined "summer" version.

Or Rohan which I think are better quality.

Wundaweb works.

BeardySchnauzer · Yesterday 21:02

Or the boys section? Might find them shorter

Northermcharn · Yesterday 21:04

I give dh all my stuff to put in his pockets

If i'm on my own, i just take a tote

BeardySchnauzer · Yesterday 21:05

But craghoppers are a good shout bin wearing a pair now and each side has a pocket more than big enough for a phone plus and on the right there’s a small pocket below which would take keys/card and is ‘lockable’. And a decent sized back pocket that would take a phone. All zipped and one pocket has a glasses cleaning cloth on an elastic in there.

I'm selling them to myself now but they’ve been great in this heat

LBFseBrom · Yesterday 21:21

I always have a bag, I love them, can't imagine being without.

SmallTreeDeepRoots · Yesterday 21:48

I used to love my brownie belt with attached purse. Might look for a more grownup version that fits my phone as well as 10p emergency phone money.

I have both casual cropped ones and walking trousers from the Good Move range at M&S that have cargo pockets that fit a phone in.

I agree with a PP who says its much easier to keep your bits and pieces in a (cross body in my case) bag than use pockets.

Every time DP and I go anywhere together I have to wait while he loads up his pockets with phone, wallet, keys, tissues and other random bits. Then he takes it all out again when he gets home. What a faff.

Easier to know where things are too. I realised yesterday that the card I usually use to pay for things wasn't in my purse and after some hunting around and just before I was going to cancel it, which is a massive hassle, I found it in the coat I wore over a week ago when I went out sans bag in the evening. I had paid for some things by phone, which I find too fiddly and had used another card as had been away so hadn't missed it but without a bag I can see stuff being left in coats etc all over the place.

I think they're more commonly called hip bags now - I wear this to the rugby because it's so much more convenient to not have something on my shoulder. Not that I have had many reasons to stand up and wave my arms in the air recently very sadly...

I got a couple of those Foldie brand bum bag hip bags that can be worn as a cross body bag for on holiday. Loved it so much I use it most of the time as my normal bag. Not too big, but fits everything I need even on trips to Orlando lol. If I am somewhere in a city and worry a bit about pick pockets etc it also has anti cut straps and safety clips for the zips.

My daughters joke about me buying from “tick tick shop” or Facebook old lady ads lol. But love my Foldies. Although I do have a couple of Disney lounge fly bags as well that come on holiday to there with me as well lol

mumandgran24 · Today 06:34

My foldie also is rfid protected and has a zip pouch on the back which is then right up against your body so great for phone and passport protection. I have even used it underneath a jumper or coat where it’s pretty well hidden.

You sound like a Harlequins supporter. If so, I feel your pain 😔
