What can I carry my keys and phone in now it's too hot for a coat??

I don't really want one of those teeny tiny phone bags but I also don't want a tote

Tbh I resent needing bags at all

What do men carry their stuff in when it's too hot for a coat actually?

Another vote for the Uniqlo style one. I took a gamble on an Amazon copy and quickly bought again in another colour - tempted to get a third. The cord fabric one is lovely but the shiny one is more like the viral one. They are so easy and practical I’ve stopped using any other handbag day to day.

I’ve just got this - fits phone, lip salve, tissues and keys. Perfect.

Thank you for this, I've just ordered one ( a slightly different style) for my husband who complains that he has nowhere to put his phone and wallet!

My OH has a nice selection of man-bags & rucksacks.
Chooses the one best suited to where we are going (out walking the Ddogs, off into town shopping, out for the evening etc). Each is pre-packed with a pair of reading specs, antibac, tissues, pen & paper, loose change etc.
Have to admit, he is a gem when it comes to getting ready and is always done before me.😂

I’ve recently stopped carrying a bag! It’s so liberating - keys in pocket and hold my phone and purse, although to be honest these days I don’t think we even need to carry a purse when everything is on our phones. I don’t miss any of the crap I used to lug around 😂

VintageLane · 22/05/2026 20:15

I very rarely use a bag these days. I just carry my keys and phone in my hand or pockets.

IcedDrinkWithUmbrella · 22/05/2026 20:16

I get my DH to carry a small rucksack and put my stuff in there 😂

CMOTDibbler · 22/05/2026 20:19

I'm quite happy with a Uniqlo type bag, but for festivals/gigs I don't like a bag but don't have enough secure pocket space so use a belt bag https://foragedesign.com/collections/all-pocket-belts which you can happily wear all day if you want and has a lot of storage without getting in the way

Uniqlo bag.
or
Men’s trousers. I once borrowed my partners jeans on a night out and could not believe how HUGE the pockets were - I could fit literally everything I needed in them with no risk of stuff working its way out.

selffellatingouroborosofhate · 22/05/2026 20:32

The problem with putting stuff in pockets is that it falls out when I go to the loo, assuming that it didn't already fall out when I sat in a chair.

I like rucksacks with pockets on the hip belts. My water and medication and sunglasses and hat fit in the bag part and my phone and wallet in the hip pockets. I can stow my jacket and anything I buy in the bag part.

I find it very annoying to constantly have things in my hands, and very inconvenient.

FleurDeFleur · 22/05/2026 20:41

Some good suggestions here. You need a small, lightweight, secure cross body bag. Frees up your hands, things don't fall out of pockets, harder for pickpockets!

This is lovely, very practical and stylish.

I think they're more commonly called hip bags now - I wear this to the rugby because it's so much more convenient to not have something on my shoulder. Not that I have had many reasons to stand up and wave my arms in the air recently very sadly...

No,no,no!! We need the 90s fluorescent multicoloured bumbag here...what if the op looses it? With one of these she is sure to find it in a heartbeat. 😆

Pussert · 22/05/2026 20:48

Both my sons (24 and 15) have bags.

Id love my husband to have a man bag, I am fucking sick to the back teeth of him asking if I can take his phone, cream and inhalers.

Sometimes i feel a but evil when I choose a little bag and he asks me..NAW...use your bloody pockets for once 😤

Try Zara jeans - they have big deep pockets.

hugasaurus · 22/05/2026 20:50

I’ve had to buy a small cross-body bag today as I had this dilemma this morning when I realised the outfit I was wearing had no pockets!

hugoagogo · 22/05/2026 20:58

I like these:
https://www.fjallraven.com/uk/en-gb/bags-gear/backpacks-bags/travel-bags/pocket/
I dont do handbags usually, but when I just need a few things, these are big enough for lipbalm, keys, purse, phone and not much else.

Trainup · 22/05/2026 21:01

aintnospringchicken · 22/05/2026 19:19

The Uniqlo cross body bag is fairly compact ,but can hold a surprising amount.
If it’s hot weather I always carry a small bottle of water with me.No problem fitting water, money, keys ,phone, lip balm ,tissues etc into the Uniqlo bag.

Yes this. It was quite fashionable a couple of years back and you still see people with it now. It scrunches up really small but holds a lot. I keep one in my car for days I don’t have a pocket to carry my small stuff.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 22/05/2026 21:03

Uniqlo cross body bag. They don’t have to be Uniqlo though, I got a bright red one by Pieces that I’ve worn to death. Needs washing now.

Wickedlittledancer · 22/05/2026 21:03

Why not a small bag, I have one of these in the small. It’s very discreet, enough for my phone, keys and a lipstick,I also bought a little card holder from Amazon that I put on a key chain and it holds my cards and any money I want to take out

That cross body pouch is lovely.

I feel like there are two kinds of people on this thread. Those poring over the classy, understated brown leather bags and people like us Grin I bought a Loungefly grass-type Pokemon bag, can’t wait for it to arrive!
