Jeans - wtf is going on?

WTF if going on with jeans?

Why are they all messing with my lady parts? Like literally squishing and smooshing them in not a pleasant way. My poor parts feel a little bruised and chaffed.

  1. I’m not wearing small knickers
  2. sizing up or down makes no difference
  3. this is from m and s pricing upwards (via John Lewis to Me +Em)

Has the COL shortened gussets?
have my perimeno labia grown to ridiculous sizes?
is it just me?

You might need jeans with a bigger rise.

DonTBeacunt · 11/05/2026 18:21

What is a bigger rise?

DonTBeacunt · 11/05/2026 18:34

Just realised what it is and I’m a high rise/high waisted “gal”

Oh thank goodness
I thought it was just me

I ordered four pair pairs to try on last week and they've all got this problem

I didn't grow taller, so what am I looking for?

TheFlyingPenguin · 11/05/2026 18:42

Levis are worth a try. I found a pair, first try, which fitted well. Mid\high rise - loose through hip and thigh. Straight or wide leg.

Have our bottoms grown? As I’ve lost 2 stone I don’t think this is the problem but I’m constantly having to readjust my knickers and stand to relieve my lady parts!

What I would like to know is what has happened to all the mid rise jeans?? 👖 impossible to find.

I quite like high rise but most high rise are too high for me

Huckleberries · 11/05/2026 19:34

@DonTBeacunt mine has actually got a bit smaller, it's one of the reasons I was treating myself to new jeans

I don't really want high waisted
But if the problem is, they've cut the pelvic area too short, then high waisted won't solve the problem anyway because all the fabric will be at the top

Although they are a bit longer than they should be, so the length has clearly gone more in the leg than anywhere else

I'm sure this used to be easier... I might actually have to go to a shop.... I don't really fancy doing loads of returns

I get my mid rise jeans from either Next or Tesco. You are right that they're a complete pain to find

Discobooloo · 11/05/2026 19:48

Levi's ribcage

DonTBeacunt · 11/05/2026 20:13

@Huckleberries mines smaller too so it’s got to be a designer problem and not an our body issue 🤪
I will admit that a lot of it is partly my fault for not quite wanting to commit to my size yet so I’ve been to shops tried on sizes/styles and found on Vinted (or bought direct from M&S) but I’ve obviously not sat down in these jeans for longer than a quick lunge/squat 🫣
sitting down for a couple of hours isn’t possible to try out
it’s a conspiracy to make me walk/stand more isn’t it?

Doggymummar · 11/05/2026 20:17

I had this with Zara they feel like the seams all join right on my clitoris and it's so painful. I sold 5hem on eBay. Levis, diesel and/or are my replacements.

DonTBeacunt · 11/05/2026 21:39

So it’s not just me!

Wow me too, and only in past 2 years. Thought it was a weird weightloss side effect but my long term slim friend gets it too.

Ineedanewsofa · 11/05/2026 22:30

Omg me too! I never had this problem as a 16/18 but now I’m usually a 12 it’s every pair of jeans! I’m actually wearing a really old pair of fairly low rise jeans quite a lot because they don’t do it. What is going on?

trainedopossum · 11/05/2026 22:33

Have you tried tall sizes? I’m not especially tall (5’7” and 32 leg) but tall trousers fit so much better in the crotch/waist proportions. Legs are usually too long but the arse is perfect.

I wondered for years why a smaller size was too small in the waist but the next size up was gappy in the crotch.

I had high hopes for the Levi’s ribcage but they only hit just above my navel.

gummywitch · 11/05/2026 22:35

Oh god, I have this issue too. Thought was just me, only in jeans bought in last 6 months. I have to keep standing up to to try and pull them away from pressing into my bits and digging in. None of my old jeans do this, weirdly.

I had a nail appointment 2 weeks ago and had to pretend I had a bad back to keep standing up as it was burning and stinging. I honestly thiught it was that id 'exposed more of myself' since losing weight so less padding and cover. My jeans are well fitting(until seated a certain way!) barrel jeans from M&S and New Look Adelaes. All mid to high waist, I prefer high waist.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 12/05/2026 13:17

I am a high rise girl….. Sainsbury’s is excellent for jeans with a higher rise

OtterlyAstounding · 12/05/2026 13:31

I buy mid rise, straight leg men's jeans, and have no problems with this! But I've just realised that's because of course men's jeans would have a roomier 'crotch point' (what Google tells me it's called).

I find they're not usually too long in the leg (but then I'm 5'8), and fit well around my bum/waist, as well as being much better quality fabric than the equivalent women's jeans, in the admittedly very cheap brand I get.

So that's always an option to try out!

LikelyLacking · 12/05/2026 13:35

Me too! I just bought a pair of high waist, wide leg M&S jeans, usual size regular and they are right up my crotch! They’re not tight, so not a sizing issue and I have the same pair that I bought a year ago that don’t do it to me- if it’s M&S, they’ve definitely changed their shape/pattern.

I was going to say that the original “boyfriend jeans” were designed because women were putting on their actual boyfriend’s jeans and liked how comfortable they were. I have a pair of men’s Levi’s I bought from a bargain bin for £5 and they are so soft and comfortable! However, the “boyfriend cut” designed for women now may have the same crotch point issues as all the other fashion jeans. I do still have a pair from 2014 (?) which are loose and baggy and low rise and they do not cut into me…. But they do keep slipping down!
I realised that all of my new ones are problematic like the OP’s too, despite being wide in the leg they cut up between my bum cheeks like cheese wire and give the same aforementioned problem at the front. Are all brands doing a butt lift engineering-type design that has this effect?

Wjdbxb · 12/05/2026 14:53

I’ve noticed this too over the past couple of years. I wondered why I was getting numb flaps all the time.

MyPurpleHeart · 12/05/2026 14:55

I have found my people

Honestly when I'm shopping for jeans at the moment I have to make a judgement call on whether or not they are likely to give me thrush

and the high rise low rise thing is infuriating, I want to hide my pouch without having my waistband under my armpits, but I don't want to wear jeans designed for Kendall Jenner because it all falls over the top!

henlake7 · 12/05/2026 16:02

I had no idea this was a thing! Are you buying them too small or trying to yank up low/mid rise jeans to make a high rise!?
Mine all seem to fit without squishing my lady parts. Mine are mainly Primark though, I find their denim pretty decent.
