What’s the oldest thing in your wardrobe that you bought and still wear?

I’ve 50s/60s things from my mum and aunt and a few vintage-y bits but the oldest item I bought myself is a 501 denim jacket from 1995.

Also nice/quirky shoes from the early 2000s that occasionally come out including Jimmy Choos from 2002.

What do you have, that you bought for yourself, that still gets an outing? (I’m 53)

My DS (only child) has a lovely girlfriend and she has taken a big stack of my 90’s clothes. It’s been brilliant having her in hus life.

I’ve loved reading these! All the denim jackets …

DH has t.shirts from the mid 1980’s.

I have a silk evening wrap so it is only worn to weddings that was my Grandmothers from the 1930’s.

Otherwise it’s my maternity combat trousers that I had in 2000, I wear these a lot.

A satin bath robe from BHS circa 1998

Dark blue Monsoon winter coat that I bought in the early 2000s. I wore it when I was pregnant with DS (winter of 2004/5). Still wear it now.

I also have a raspberry wool Brora scarf that I ‘borrowed’ from my Mum around 1989. I don’t wear it often but it’s too good to get rid of.

My dad’s silk cravat from around 1957 that mum made with a remnant from the frock she sewed for herself. I wore it as a belt for some years in the 80s. It won’t go round me now but I can’t ever get rid of it

A very long, black, wrap coat in 50% cashmere and 50% wool from the Planet sale in about 1995. As good as new.

A huge, warm faux fur jacket from maybe 1985 comes out for very cold weather.
I found a tee I bought at one of my very first gigs in 1984 which had been in a locked trunk since the 90s. Haven’t had a chance to wear it again yet, it’s in the laundry basket.
I have bits and bobs that were old when I bought them in the 80s - a 30s silk tea dress, a 40s kimono - but I don’t wear them now. I probably should find a way to wear them or move them on.

A jumper I bought when I went to University in 1983!

I have jeans bought in 1987, that I now only wear to do the garden. My oldest things worn as normal are a silk evening dress from 2008 and a soft jersey top from 2004, both, I have just realised originally from Monsoon, and a Planet wool coat from about 1994.

My skiing gear. Same ski pants and thermal layers since 2006!
Aside from that it’s my Allsaints Cargo leather jacket which is 10 years old. I haven’t kept anything older than that.

My oldest things also include a Cargo leather jacket from 2016.

Plus Burberry Daylesmoore coat, Mulberry Bayswater in Oak from 2013 and some black DM Pascal Virginia boots from 2016.

A nightie from 1995
An acrylic V-neck jumper (with a massive hole in so I can't wear it outside) from 1992
