Swim suit that has good bum coverage!!

Please help me find a swimming costume!!
I have ordered and sent back so many on line that i'm at my wits end.
I am looking for a swimming costume to wear on beach holidays and for a spa day that is coming up.
My main issue is that none seem to cover enough bum !
I didn't think I was a particularly weird shape but seems in swimsuits I am.
I'm 56 and 5ft 8inches, small bust (34A) and usually a size 10 for tops and trousers but I have been ordering a size 12 as none seem to cover enough cheek! but problem then of course is bust is too big and sometimes too short in the body
I have tried various from M&S, Boden and Next !
Wise Mumsnetters please help me find a swim suit with decent bum coverage that doesn't have lots of ruched tummy control and that will fit my bust!
Liked this but too high cut for my sagging bum ! https://www.marksandspencer.com/sculpt-broderie-trim-plunge-swimsuit/p/clp60759777?color=BLACK#intid=pid_pg1pip48g4r1c1%7Cprodflag_plp_ts_CBS_5

tried this https://www.marksandspencer.com/tummy-control-printed-bandeau-tankini-top/p/clp60784541?color=BLACKMIX#intid=pid_pg1pip48g4r1c1%7Cprodflag_srp_ts_QP_70

tried this shape - again too highly cut for bum!

Any advice for a well covered bum swim suit welcome

Thanks

Decathlon do low leg ones which provide good coverage - I have this https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/womens-swimming-1-piece-swimsuit-kelly-lines-pink/358093/c364m8912427 but it might be too “sporty” rather than beach looking for what you’re after.

NipperPenrose · 10/05/2026 08:07

I have found my tribe!! It infuriates me no end that, increasingly, swimsuits barely cover our arses. Who's designing them?!! Watching women having to dig fabric out of their cracks because the current styles just don't fit our bodies properly increases my ire. And how many women actually want their cheeks on show?

My solution is two-pieces from Amazon. (I am long in the torso, so one-pieces don't work.) I've bought these and others: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bslingerie%C2%AE-Halter-Waisted-Bikini-Swimsuit/dp/B086TXRHS2/ref=sr_1_23?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.9nA5JSCbLsyn9V2dVKSy_ekjY6ZzXkTT8dKcjAwPaWAfKxB6oJmacZ24L5BOVpgTRxkJnK7dkyddLyrf6UMkiMm06rqHtoYiwW1fZa3usQdv0BzpB9prAFqpm3ypekgg4Bk7EQEaWI48KIlbIvx8UswF8VWWeMEExM2c_h5FuYP1D2FnbCRQMSn9WZnBAbZKbEEAXmgFnoZ0G_sp3D3kQRrkIjLvTJrsmqlBdMYk1JRcnQklH6FYHK1tgzLFBoTSLk7l-XNxAS5lNFpqrJDEE7zapubUaOC3Mlx2pu2GFrY.40thZY-nLcFqqov17AT81QMTmagSSmGGBAKphqxfr7A&dib_tag=se&keywords=vintage%2Bhigh%2Bwaisted%2Bbikini%2Bset&qid=1778396552&sr=8-23&th=1&psc=1

Yes, they come from China and are not trendy, but they're flattering and they cover my ass. I am a size 10-12 and middle aged. I type in "high waisted vintage bikini full coverage" and even then it takes a lot of digging to find ones that will cover my butt.

It sounds to me like you have a body length issue, rather than a bum issue - particularly given you say bikinis not a problem.

Try ones where the reviews say it's long in the body? (Sadly, that kind of useful info is never included in the product description.)

I have tried longer length swimsuits but it's not the issue - my bum really is the issue Grin I am an hourglass with a generous bum. I'm a size 10-12 but my bum is not at all toned, so swimsuits that are just normal but a bit skimpy on the bum (let alone anything like high-leg cuts) unflatteringly right across and then ride up when walking about. I don't like boy leg/board shorts/tankinis, just want a swimsuit that holds the bum in properly!

The Bonmarche swimsuit is literally the only swimsuit I've ever had that completely contains the behind, totally tuglessly. I've got lots of others which are not bad but the Bonmarche one I wear for things like aqua parks as I hate walking around between slides, tugging the elastic down all the time, or standing for queues on the stairs feeling a bit too exposed for my liking. It doesn't roll down at the front either. The other swimsuits I have which require more arranging I save for sunbathing.

I’m not long back from holiday abroad and have never seen so many arses in my life! All shapes and sizes. However there were still also plenty of full cover like me!

I didn’t however much like it on a boat trip to have a couple of bare arses wandering about the boat when I was sat down - eye level and close proximity no thank you 🤢

MudandParsnips · 10/05/2026 08:52

Another one recommending Pour Moi - can get from M&S. I find it absolutely infuriating all these awful high cut swimming costumes. Who is buying and wearing them?! I do not want to be showing half my arse cheeks in any public domain, thank you very much!

Anonymouseposter · 10/05/2026 08:54

Landsend tugless are good and they do a long length.

Bonbon21 · 10/05/2026 09:01

Try Halocline low leg swimsuits.. proper cheek coverage, suits keep their shape and colour. They also do longer torso styles. Free returns, so you an order different sizes and styles...

catspyjamas1 · 10/05/2026 09:09

Phase Eight
Pour Moi

Have several from both, excellent bum coverage and fit.

ThatAgileLimeCat · 10/05/2026 10:42

I tried so many last year. Then went into my local Next and walked out with 2 lovely ones that were really flattering.

ThisGreenOtter · 10/05/2026 11:59

Andie Swim! They're on the pricey side but great quality and last ages, and they do a long torso option in some suits also

WhereAreWeNow · 10/05/2026 12:15

I'm also 5"8 and a 10 and have been struggling with this problem. I tried on a load in JL and I'm happy to report that most of the JL own brand costumes managed to cover my arse. I've also got a good one from Bravissimo but that's not helpful if you're not particularly busty OP.

ScrollingLeaves · 10/05/2026 14:21

Have you tried one from “Pour Moi”?
I got one for the very reasons you are speaking of and it is good for covering the bottom, and flattering.
https://www.johnlewis.com/pour-moi-free-spirit-twist-front-ruched-tummy-control-swimsuit/p114434296

Landsend would have bottom-covering styles too, and the Longer length option ( measure yourself to check to see if you need one) stops it from pulling up into your bottom and making a wedge.

Pour Moi looks great, but they're not cheap! I think investing in quality not quantity would be worth it though, but I usually pay under £20 for swim wear (probably why the damn thing doesn't stay put)!

Their fabric is decent though.

Louisa58 · 11/05/2026 07:10

Got excited as these look nice but the price !! I’ve ordered one from Pour Moi (also far more than I’d spend on a swimsuit) but at half the price of this, so fingers crossed. I had ordered one from Next earlier on in the year but had to return for lack of bum coverage. Hadn’t heard of Pour Moi so very grateful to see this post ! I’ve had a pretty swimsuit from Next for years and also one from Esprit which have lasted well and those were from the days when your backside got coverage ! I hope retails are reading these comments and taking note !

I hate this too. I have quite a long torso and they all seen to ride up. And I didn't want boy shorts or a tankini, just a regular one piece that covers my arse.

Sundayagain27 · 12/05/2026 23:10

So update Boden bring returned!
I think I will stick with bikini for holidays I have a nice pour moi one from last year and my faithful black Speedo for the pool of required ! might try tugless and pour moi ! Can categorically say tankini not for me !
thanks everyone 🙏

I have a similar issue!

It’s not body length or size as I’m a 6-8 and 5’3. I just have a large round bum and all the current styles cut right across it, leading to incessant wedgies.

I don’t need or want a full coverage style like the lands end tugless, or something very basic/practical like speedo or decathlon, I’d like something a bit more fashionable but with a bum sized bum!

Brands I have found not bad - but only some styles, not all:

JL own brand
Seafolly

Off to investigate Pour Moi!

Fashionpoliceneenaw · 12/05/2026 23:28

if you’re happy to splurge a bit try the Ralph Lauren ones. Good coverage front and back and looks pretty too. I found the Reiss one piece gives only moderate coverage but their bikinis are great.

That is lovely and not too expensive for a 'good' swimsuit. Many are £100+

I often find that many brands have ongoing styles that they bring out in different colours each year so if you find something that works for you, you can get the same style in a different colour and also look out for it in sales, Vinted, ebay etc.

Gastropod · 13/05/2026 06:24

I’d suggest having a look at the sports swimwear or surf brands: Arena, Speedo, o’Neill, etc. They design stuff to stay put on your body while swimming and I’ve found that the arse coverage is decent in many of their models. It’s not all “sporty” looking stuff - they do nice beachy styles too.
