Please help me find a swimming costume!!
I have ordered and sent back so many on line that i'm at my wits end.
I am looking for a swimming costume to wear on beach holidays and for a spa day that is coming up.
My main issue is that none seem to cover enough bum !
I didn't think I was a particularly weird shape but seems in swimsuits I am.
I'm 56 and 5ft 8inches, small bust (34A) and usually a size 10 for tops and trousers but I have been ordering a size 12 as none seem to cover enough cheek! but problem then of course is bust is too big and sometimes too short in the body
I have tried various from M&S, Boden and Next !
Wise Mumsnetters please help me find a swim suit with decent bum coverage that doesn't have lots of ruched tummy control and that will fit my bust!
Liked this but too high cut for my sagging bum ! https://www.marksandspencer.com/sculpt-broderie-trim-plunge-swimsuit/p/clp60759777?color=BLACK#intid=pid_pg1pip48g4r1c1%7Cprodflag_plp_ts_CBS_5

tried this https://www.marksandspencer.com/tummy-control-printed-bandeau-tankini-top/p/clp60784541?color=BLACKMIX#intid=pid_pg1pip48g4r1c1%7Cprodflag_srp_ts_QP_70

tried this shape - again too highly cut for bum!

Any advice for a well covered bum swim suit welcome

Thanks

I feel your pain OP, I can’t wait for this ridiculous high cut trend to pass. I also don’t want boy leg/shorts/skirt/tankini. My best one recently is a Lands’ End tugless.

Pinkdaisychains · 08/05/2026 15:45

It’s been a few years since I bought one, but Fatface always used to have proper bun coverage

Pinkdaisychains · 08/05/2026 15:45

Bum not bun!

muddyford · 08/05/2026 16:04

My Lands End ones have good coverage.

CoCoJones26 · 08/05/2026 16:24

Landsend, also "pour moi" ( available at JL and Next) are good. I have bought from both in the past few months, they're great.

TheChosenTwo · 08/05/2026 16:28

Oh ffs this pisses me off so bloody much.
Dd and I browsed for ages last year and discounted absolutely everything for being ‘too bummy’. Just want to lay down without my arse being on display but it seems like too much to ask even though clearly lots of people feel the same.

MassiveOvaryaction · 08/05/2026 16:41

I've had ones from Panache and Curvy Kate with good bum coverage.

This might be helpful for more well endowed people who want full bum coverage but I’m an A/B cup, size 8 with a rather straight up and down body shape - I just want my bum to be kept under wraps 😭 why is this so hard?!

cannaethink · 08/05/2026 16:44

I bought this one in a different colour a couple of years ago Figleaves
I’m also 5’8 and a 10. It’s a decent length and bum coverage. I’m pretty sure I got a 12.

PauliesWalnuts · 08/05/2026 16:46

I've got a big bum (and I cannot lie) - I get mine from Speedo and everything fits in.

LemonandLimesoda · 08/05/2026 16:46

Why are men's clothes so much more comfortable than womens?! I feel your pain op, hate feeling of it being half way. We should be able to be feminine and comfortable without opting for plain styles.

Japlan · 08/05/2026 14:05

Have you tried Next Tall ones - at 5ft 8 body length could be adding to the problem

I was also going to suggest a "tall" or "longer length" costume.
Next, Marks and Boden do them, amongst others.
Less creeping up the arse.

TheChosenTwo · 08/05/2026 17:18

Oh a tall range might actually be a great solution for me! I’m 5’7 so not ‘tall’ but worth a go. Thanks for the suggestion and fingers crossed it helps others too!

Justusethebloodyphone · 08/05/2026 17:26

Another vote for pour moi. I discovered them accidentally and now have 5. All bum covering. They wear really well. I feel I solved a long running problem (which means theull
probably now change).

LemonandLimesoda · 08/05/2026 17:58

Pour Moi looks great, but they're not cheap! I think investing in quality not quantity would be worth it though, but I usually pay under £20 for swim wear (probably why the damn thing doesn't stay put)!

SleepsAThingOfThePast · 08/05/2026 19:05

I got one in Sainsbury's. I have a large arse and covers well.

WifeOfBaths · 08/05/2026 19:13

I came on to recommend the Pour Moi Santa Monica swimsuit. It’s one of the most flattering ones I’ve ever had.

Mumandnan10 · 08/05/2026 19:15

How about trying Lands End? Their tugless swimsuits have good coverage.

Yes the quality definitely makes a difference. I’m a standard 10 but found a 12 more comfortable on me (not very toned so more forgiving on flabby bits).

TheBirdintheCave · 08/05/2026 19:28

I gave up and bought some colourful swim shorts instead. My holy grail is a matching set of shorts and underwired bikini top. I hate that the choice is either board shorts with sports style tops OR nice bikini tops but with skimpy bottoms.

eurochick · 08/05/2026 19:42

Boden tend to be cut for women rather than teens.

Justploddingonandon · 08/05/2026 19:46

Would a tankini work? I got one from next ( with more shorts style bottoms) as I have similar issues with being different sizes for tops and bottoms.

Cocktailglass · 08/05/2026 19:53

Swim shorts?
