Swim suit that has good bum coverage!!

Please help me find a swimming costume!!
I have ordered and sent back so many on line that i'm at my wits end.
I am looking for a swimming costume to wear on beach holidays and for a spa day that is coming up.
My main issue is that none seem to cover enough bum !
I didn't think I was a particularly weird shape but seems in swimsuits I am.
I'm 56 and 5ft 8inches, small bust (34A) and usually a size 10 for tops and trousers but I have been ordering a size 12 as none seem to cover enough cheek! but problem then of course is bust is too big and sometimes too short in the body
I have tried various from M&S, Boden and Next !
Wise Mumsnetters please help me find a swim suit with decent bum coverage that doesn't have lots of ruched tummy control and that will fit my bust!
Liked this but too high cut for my sagging bum ! https://www.marksandspencer.com/sculpt-broderie-trim-plunge-swimsuit/p/clp60759777?color=BLACK#intid=pid_pg1pip48g4r1c1%7Cprodflag_plp_ts_CBS_5

tried this https://www.marksandspencer.com/tummy-control-printed-bandeau-tankini-top/p/clp60784541?color=BLACKMIX#intid=pid_pg1pip48g4r1c1%7Cprodflag_srp_ts_QP_70

tried this shape - again too highly cut for bum!

Any advice for a well covered bum swim suit welcome

Thanks

I have a Speedo one piece I absolutely love — so comfortable and flattering!

worriedaboutmyboytoday · 08/05/2026 20:13

Háve a look at Orla Kelly's range. I got one in the sale from Sports Direct last year and love it so much, I bought two more!

Decent bum coverage and lined, so feel very secure.

TheLittleSunnyCat · 08/05/2026 20:14

I wear Fantasie bikinis - they have different style bottoms and mine give great coverage, they are probably a bit too generous if anything for me. No idea if the swimsuits are equally good but I’d be tempted to see what you can find on eBay (with returns) as if it’s a “this season style cut” thing then maybe previous seasons might be different and worth trying in. I find Fantasie nice quality.

Pinkflamingo10 · 08/05/2026 20:30

I’m 5ft 8 and I have to order the long tall swimsuits from Next- they’re longer in the body and so comfortable. Boden and M&S do tall sizes too. If the suit was longer in the torso it would fit better over your bum also. (This is what I find)

BananaWoman999 · 08/05/2026 21:43

I second Sainsburys - got a great one in the sale last year and just saw now that they have 'low leg' cut swimsuits which I can only imagine are the opposite of high leg cut!

Also smaller of chest, if that helps.

Mcdhotchoc · 08/05/2026 21:55

I'd have thought that you would be better with tankini separates

ConnieClue · 08/05/2026 22:03

I could've written this! I've tried so many & sent them all back.

I've settled for some shorts now as running out of time for holiday.

Last year I did get some short style ones from amazon with adjustable ruching at the sides, so they looked more like briefs but had the bum coverage. They're the best I've found!

I'll have a look back on my orders and see if I can link them.

COUNCAT14 · 08/05/2026 22:05

I have a massive butt, very pear shaped, regular swimmer and I find George (Asda) actually have great coverage and very good prices!

I know just the thing! Have a look at Bonmarche, in particular the ruched front swimsuit in plain black (or navy). Provides full coverage behind without tugging. I had this exact same problem as you and have ordered scores of swimsuits from lots of places in the past and this was the only one which really does the job and which isn't boy leg, it's just good full coverage.

Some of the other swimsuits are also good from there for this issue but it's the plain black and navy ruched front ones which I've found the best.

CherryblossomRose · 08/05/2026 22:20

Sorry just seen that you don't want lots of ruching. This one does have ruching and it's not as modern looking as the one you linked, but in my opinion at least it worth it for the very secure coverage behind.

Sundayagain27 · 08/05/2026 22:38

Thanks everyone
have ordered a long swimsuit and tanking from boden
I have a pour moi bikini which is a good fit already but struggling to find a pour moi swim suit with 34A cup !
Will report back on boden !

I find Asda swimwear really good in terms of fit, quality and value for money. They’re
easy to order and return so you can experiment with different sizes.

BustPipes · 08/05/2026 23:30

It sounds to me like you have a body length issue, rather than a bum issue - particularly given you say bikinis not a problem.

Try ones where the reviews say it's long in the body? (Sadly, that kind of useful info is never included in the product description.)

blueshoes · 09/05/2026 02:28

OP, this won't win any prizes in the fashion stakes but it covers your whole bum:

I returned this one for having too much material at the bum and a tightish chest size, so it might suit someone with more bum and less bust.

RS1987 · 09/05/2026 09:47

I wear any old swimming costume with board shorts over the top

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 09/05/2026 09:55

Lands End have a great swimwear range with good bum coverage. Huge sale on at the moment too: https://www.landsend.co.uk/Women/Swimwear/ix-11307/Sale?srsltid=AfmBOoq1t9UDotmznsvl0xUjtue2INL7D9Kjt1vvHMMpX14obzWUmHLJ#product=P_44304&scroll=1451

I agree the current high leg half arse fashion for swimsuits is an absolute nightmare, I also want decent bum coverage front and back. I had the most depressing shopping trip. Anyway I found the answer, it's a brand called pour moi that id not heard of and this style of swim suit (they have plenty of variations of this), perfect normal level of bum coverage https://www.pourmoi.co.uk/products/ruched-halter-tummy-control-swimsuit/ the tummy control is annoying imo but it's a flattering shape

TheChosenTwo · 08/05/2026 16:44

This might be helpful for more well endowed people who want full bum coverage but I’m an A/B cup, size 8 with a rather straight up and down body shape - I just want my bum to be kept under wraps 😭 why is this so hard?!

I've just looked at the Landsend tugless swimsuits someone linked to, there's loads of size 8s in the sale atm so you might find something you like there? (I used to be 6/8 in my yoof and am currently a 10 so rather less choice for me, but they did look rather nice and good seat coverage for all)

cabbagesandcauliflowers · 09/05/2026 16:47

After being stuck on this exact problem for years (why do I have to expose my arse to go on the beach) I recently ordered a costume from Solsona Swim. I’ll let you know if they are any good but they look cool and not frumpy.

Although I do possess the uncanny ability to transform many a trendy thing into ‘asexual frump’ so let’s see.

CapabilityBrownsHaHa · 09/05/2026 22:06

I've bought a couple of these from Amazon when I've been different sizes. It does have tummy control, but not too much ruching. The cups are sewn in, so no fiddling trying to straighten them out. Its quite glam for a 1-piece, and cheap! And most importantly, full bum coverage. https://amzn.eu/d/0hvfgIYu
