Can’t afford a whole new routine but would like to introduce something - maybe a serum - to up my skincare game a bit.

Where are you getting the Tretinoin from ?

JulietteHasAGun · Yesterday 10:59

Currently azaelic acid. But am about to start Tret as I hear such good things.

Lostsadandconfused · Yesterday 11:01

Tret and sunscreen.

Personally I’m getting it from Turkey but Boots online prescription services do it. I get my prescription Azealic acid from Boots and it’s fine. Fill out a form online and pick up a few days later.

Azelaic acid!!

G5000 · Yesterday 11:05

tret and SPF. I have a 50yo friend who was always religious about avoiding sun, even when the rest of us were frying ourselves and her skin is amazing, like a baby.

(well, and fillers. no skin care does what those do)

So is it an Acne cream ? - want to check I’m looking at the right stuff.

La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume, apply before bed as a night mask of sorts. Have never ONCE woke up and my skin not looked 10x better with this stuff. Amazing with sunburn too.
I am very careful with my skin barrier, so im looking at all these other suggestions with interest - if anyone whose skin gets on really well with La Roche Posay Cicaplast or Effaclar, and has found any other serums etc that work for their skin, im all ears!

Yes, but it works wonders on your skin texture even if you don’t have acne. It also works on rosacea. So you do have to send a photo of your face in when you order the first time. I have very slight redness and did have a single spot the day I took the photo and that seemed to be enough. I’m not sure you could do it if your skin was perfect so wash your make up off and pinch your cheeks till they go red. 😆. It’s the Finacea stuff I get .

you can buy a weaker strength with no prescription

I was with Klira but have just signed up with IUncouth, as they are cheaper. £48 for 2 months supply.

HoldMyWine · Yesterday 11:38

I think I may have a referral code

YessicaHaircut · Yesterday 11:47

Facial oil at night. Definitely makes my skin more balanced during the day.

Tretinoin. Nothing works as well for skin as you age.

But SPF every day is an absolute necessity.

For some people! Ridiculous to make such a sweeping statement!

What age and what skin type?

GargoylesofBeelzebub · Yesterday 12:15

I didn’t get along with tret.

Vitamin C is my ultimate skincare game changer. Makes my skin look so much brighter.

Medik8 c tetra, love it

Agree with this. I use a cheap £2 moisturiser on my skin, no fancy skincare. I'm mid 40s and don't have one wrinkle. I drink so much water, always have done. Could be that, who knows

Nah, I’m never without water and have been wrinkling up since puberty

It would have been helpful if I said that wouldn’t it 🤦🏻‍♀️

Mid-50s, combination skin in reasonable shape but just lacking a bit of glow and firmness A few fine lines and some darker areas.

I’ve read good things about Lancôme Genefique but it’s a lot to spend on the off chance.

Vit c serum

whiteboard · Yesterday 13:10

Lactic acid makes the biggest difference to my mid 50s skin. Tret did nothing much.

GameOfJones · Yesterday 13:17

That Elf vitamin C serum posted above is excellent and just came rated very highly in a product testing piece in The Guardian as it has the same concentration of Vitamin C as much more expensive products.

3peassuit · Yesterday 13:29

Tret, spf 50 and Kiehl’s ultra rich moisturiser.
