Beauty chat - freebies/gifts with purchase/offers THREAD FOURTEEN

OvaHere · 19/04/2026 09:03

Time for a new thread, our first in a MN Community Group. We've chatted and purchased beauty bargains so much we've become a literal tribe! 😂

In other news PLouise was out of the gate with ridiculous speed announcing the first advent calendar waitlist in April.

In celebration I thought I'd try out a poll. It runs for 7 days, there was only 6 options so comment in the thread for those that come under 'Other'.

As always, welcome back long standing beauty bargain hunters and hi to anyone new who would like to join. Usual caveats about the threads being bad for you wallet still apply, but enjoy anyway. 🤗

I love that bag with the oh my cream edit. I’ve never bought anything from them (the name has always put me off!) - are there any codes for it? I’ve been reasonably restrained recently so could be tempted!
I did buy this last week and am delighted with it, both products are perfect as are the shades. The lip gloss is so flattering and non sticky and long lasting! I love this so much am almost tempted to buy another which doesn’t ever happen!

It’s only taking an extra 1% off for me?

Ah the 10% off works on the WA edit not the Hourglass edit for me.

user593 · 07/05/2026 12:23

It also works on the Lisa Potter Dixon edit.

Ah, it was taking an extra 10% off when I first tried it. I couldn't find another code that worked. I'm tempted to buy both, but I really shouldn't 🤭

They've finally reduced the Fair one. Still not sure if I want it for £54.

The only thing that makes me hesitate is that I was expecting a JL GWP with £200 spend to be out in May - does anyone know when it's coming?

Is this what you are waiting for? Quite like look of it.

Thanks @OvaHere . I’ve order the oh my cream edit. I’ve never ordered from them so the welcome20 discount made it very tempting, they have a few good offers on the Tata harper gift sets too. I’ve been wanting to try their eye gel so added the set with that in too.

Yes that's the one. Looks like it's coming out late May, so I've ordered the radiance box now - don't want to risk it selling out

@Beautyfox which colour bag did you get? I’m dithering!

I know I would love both but I’m really into khaki at the moment and I thought that colour went better with the sarong. However I am well aware I will never wear/use them together. 😂 tbh I’m quite tempted to get both colours 🙈

I've looked at the hourglass and WA sets again and there's not enough from each that I want to make it worth buying especially after my recent Dior, Tom Ford and Chanel hauls 🙈 I think I'd rather spend my pennies elsewhere at the moment. Although, I do still have £40 in dodgy credit 🤭 I'm not sure I dare spend it yet though.

I put it in a basket but I'd end up selling everything bar the blush and contour. I might cover the bulk of my costs doing that but I don't think I want the blush or contour enough.

Bar the odd new release that really stands out and catches my eye I think I may have hit make up saturation point for now. 😂

I feel like I've gone from getting edits and trying to get a bargain to wanting to run up my credit card on Dior 😳 not a good place to be 🤣 At least when I'm bankrupt I'll look good sleeping in a tent and eating baked beans out of a can 🙈

JoRaRaRa · 07/05/2026 14:07

@OvaHere I'm the same though, out of the wa edit, I want the contour, maybe the blush and to try the mascara, but I have a box of mascaras that I'm struggling to get through.

Out of the hourglass, I'd like to try the concealer and primer. And I like the setting powder but I think I'm probably better of just buying the setting powder when I do eventually run out of the 5 setting powders I already have in my stash.

I'm the same with mascara and I already have the WA mini from the SNK Blush and Go edit.

I like the HG concealer but I don't love the primer or setting powder - they're fine but just fine iysyim.

Talking of concealers though I bought the Patrick Ta concealer from CB when it came back in stock and I think it might be the best I've tried so far.

This is the thing, most of the edits have mascaras in so I have loads now. Plus I have free ones from Victoria Beckham (as that is my favourite one so I request 1 every time I buy) and a few free ones from Chanel. If I ever run out, I can buy a WA then.

Oh I really like the hourglass setting powder. I did use Laura Mercier for years and have 2 pots of it in my stash still but my face is feeling drier nowadays and that doesn't help. Plus as I'm starting to get lines, it seems to sit in them making them so much more visable. I also don't need primers, I seem to have a growing stash of those too, helped on by the fairy gwps 🤭

I like the Patrick ta concealer too, I haven't decided if I prefer it over the nars one though, I switch daily, today it's pt. I have the pt foundation too and that's gorgeous. I didn't realise how nice it looked until I went back to Guerlain and Dior. I have 3 guerlain foundations in my stash 🙈 so I'll have to use them at some point but I really prefer Patrick ta now. We can blame escentual's sale for all my Guerlain foundations 🤣

OvaHere · 07/05/2026 14:51

@JoRaRaRa I still haven't committed to the PT foundation but now I've tried the concealer I think I'm going to at some point. I have a goal of using a few up first as I have quite a few I'm happy with. If I get to the point I'm having to resort to those I don't like that much I'll buy it.

My top 3 powders are Huda and Fenty loose powder and CT pressed. I specifically use the CT pressed for on the go touch ups, I've not found anything else that can fix my t zone mid way through the day quite as well.

Would the Patrick Ta suits those of us with an oily t-zone please? Desperate for a new foundation (glowy but matte-ish would be the dream and natural but not too heavy) and a concealer for chin spots (delightful!). I’m hopeless at buying foundations and concealer and instead have about a zillion blushers, lip products and eye pencils as they are easy to buy but never happy with my base!

Fillybuster · 07/05/2026 15:21

I’m dithering over the WA edit now it’s down to £54. I’d use all 3 sticks, so it’s actually not bad value - I genuinely need a new highlighter and contour stick - but it’s just not really floating my boat. Hmmm.

I totally forgot to drop off the M&S glow box and I think have missed my return window. Not the end of the world but a bit annoying as there wasn’t much in there I really wanted.

The JL GWP oth, looks like a winner! My £10 off £60 spend ends on 21st May. I bet they launch the GWP after that closes….

The PT concealer is quite light and serum like. I think it's fab for under eyes which is what I mostly use concealer for. It might not be the best one for blemish coverage as I haven't used it for that.

@Beautyfox I went for orange/terracota in the end as felt it went more with the colours I wear in summer plus usually tan or gold sandals. They are both lovely and it was a tough choice! The discount code definitely swayed it! I didn’t realise they used to be Naturismo. Love the look of the sarong!

No, I'd say that the foundation is more suited for dry skin as it has lots of skincare in it. That's why I bought it as my forehead and cheeks get really dry. I have used the concealer for blemishes but there are better ones out there for that.

I need to set myself that goal, at the weekend I was shopping for a light weight foundation. I've narrowed it down to Lisa Eldridge and Chanel, but I really don't need to buy either especially as last year I bulk bought no7 hydra foundation which was meant to be my new summer lightweight fave 🤣

I keep meaning to try the CT pressed powder, I've been using Tarte but it's getting very close to the end of its life now. I actually don't have any more pressed powder in my stash, maybe I should focus on that instead.
