Beauty chat - freebies/gifts with purchase/offers THREAD FOURTEEN

Time for a new thread, our first in a MN Community Group. We've chatted and purchased beauty bargains so much we've become a literal tribe! 😂

In other news PLouise was out of the gate with ridiculous speed announcing the first advent calendar waitlist in April.

In celebration I thought I'd try out a poll. It runs for 7 days, there was only 6 options so comment in the thread for those that come under 'Other'.

As always, welcome back long standing beauty bargain hunters and hi to anyone new who would like to join. Usual caveats about the threads being bad for you wallet still apply, but enjoy anyway. 🤗

Ooh intrigued as to where it is now as I'm not far from either of those...

It’s in Altrincham x

Thelifeofawife · 11/05/2026 19:01

Not beauty related as such, but I ordered a couple of sets of drawers from Robert Dyas for my ever growing stash of skincare/make up/haircare. They were on offer and a bargain, but unfortunately one of them arrived with a crack in the top. I contacted them last night and this morning they had arranged a replacement to be sent out (fast tracked) and told me I could discard the other one rather than arranging a return.
If only all retailers could make it this easy!

I’m looking forward to getting my bedroom looking a bit more organised this weekend 😁

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 11/05/2026 19:18

Ooh @Thelifeofawife would you post pictures once you've got them in situ and organised how you like? I'm a bit of an addict for that sort of thing.

Haha, sure thing - whatever floats your boat 😁

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 11/05/2026 19:31

I think I like things neatly organised because I'm quite disorganised by nature. These are my complexion and eyes/lips drawers and I know they're in another room bleating about needing drawer organisers. I'll get there eventually!

But the top is very tidy and clean! Mine is a mess. I really must tidy it again. It ends up with random toys and debris that the kids park there too.

Does anyone else end up squinting at the minis in the morning to figure out if they’re about to face moisturiser or hand moisturiser on their face 😂

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 11/05/2026 19:46

My minis are under the desk in an oval basket. Writing that, I now feel bad for them!
My complexion drawer has filled up recently with glow products and they are the ones that tend to freak me out first thing because they're all nonchalant and 'just apply me before foundation, it'll work out great, trust the process' and then in minutes my face can be seen from space, aaaaaagh

Where I struggle is that I don’t have a dressing table, so there’s storage here there and everywhere. I’ve been planning to get new bedroom furniture so part of that will be a small dressing table as well, just so I can contain things better (and not be constantly in and out of the bathroom when I’m getting ready!)

Me too. I don't have a defined area other than a tall bathroom unit for skincare. Make up is an issue as it's spread around in various boxes and cosmetic bags. I'm planning to add a small dressing table too but it will be small as there's not much space.

What I really need is one of the kids to permanently move out so I can have a beauty room/home office.

Very grateful for a ridiculously oversized built in dressing table. It took up the whole long wall of our bedroom when we bought our house: it was incredibly ugly and we were going to rip the whole thing out when we renovated, but our builders found a way to create cupboards at each end, and rehabilitate the middle, so I ended up with a fairly luxurious 1.5 metre spread slap bang in the middle!

That’s my plan when DS gets his own place 😁 Though I’m actually hoping he won’t move out for at least another 10 years.

Mine will be a small dressing table too. I want a run of wardrobes, with a little beauty corner on the end.
I have also seen people do a double corner shelf with a small chair, for those with very limited space, which I think is a great idea

@Thelifeofawife Ooh that's nice. That would work in the space I have.

@Thelifeofawife thats really pretty!

Thelifeofawife · 11/05/2026 23:25

I’m thinking of doing this while waiting on my new furniture, as I need new carpet as well, so will likely end up doing a full redecoration (even though I redecorated only a couple of years ago), so it will probably get pushed back towards the end of the year.

I do think it’s a handy space saver. I also like the little units you can get from Amazon where it’s a bedside cabinet with a lift up lid/mirror and pull out chair. But in reality we would all need at least 3 of those in our rooms 😅

My new JL reward today is a free Charlotte Tilbury magic cream 7ml, online only, no minimum spend (but you do have to buy something to add it to the basket).

It's valid until 25th May. The GWP we're expecting is coming 'late May' so I bet it will be the 26th or later, or it won't be possible to stack the offers.

You don't need to buy anything else. Just add the reward, press shop now, add it to basket then go to your basket, it'll show up as £11 but when you go to check out, it'll come off. You'll have to pay for postage but it makes it £4.50 for it 😍

Doglover73 · 12/05/2026 09:45

@namechange0998776554799000 and @JoRaRaRa thanks for the heads up on the CT cream. I have just done c&c on mine for £2.95, which I think is a bit of a bargain. I will put it into the DIY Liberty a/c, which is nearly full now.

I almost ordered more stuff to get the free delivery but restrained myself 😹

Since buying the totally unnecessary Jarrolds edit, I have been good and not bought anything else, so I thought I could go wild for £2.95!

I am gradually reducing my stash, (or at least that’s what I am telling myself !)

TragicMuse · 12/05/2026 13:11

Thanks from me too for the JL reward notice! Picking mine up tomorrow.

TragicMuse · 12/05/2026 13:15

Did I mention the Prevage face cleanser? I think I did.

Man alive, it’s AWFUL! Gritty, stings the eyes, yuck. I’m using it as a body scrub and can’t get through it fast enough. I HATE IT!

I deserve a treat for putting up with it!

user593 · 12/05/2026 13:33

Thanks for the JL tip. I’m picking mine up tomorrow too! I’ve not used it before but happy to give it a try for £2.95.
