Beauty chat - freebies/gifts with purchase/offers THREAD FOURTEEN

OvaHere · 19/04/2026 09:03

Time for a new thread, our first in a MN Community Group. We've chatted and purchased beauty bargains so much we've become a literal tribe! 😂

In other news PLouise was out of the gate with ridiculous speed announcing the first advent calendar waitlist in April.

In celebration I thought I'd try out a poll. It runs for 7 days, there was only 6 options so comment in the thread for those that come under 'Other'.

As always, welcome back long standing beauty bargain hunters and hi to anyone new who would like to join. Usual caveats about the threads being bad for you wallet still apply, but enjoy anyway. 🤗

Sorry to hear that. Why do they do it? Slight aside, but it made me think of someone selling one they’d refilled on Vinted a few weeks ago. I’m sure it was up for over £100. When I asked if they were planning to upload pics of the contents, they said “no, it’s a surprise”.

😮

I was expecting it to be richer and heavier. 😂

I found the MZ one I've just finished more so.

I wasn't sure if I liked the AB Rich Cream when I first tried it then I loved it after a while so I'll give this one time.

I proffered the mz one but got bored with it as potatoes do big. I chop and change. Probably why my skins had a tantrum 🤣

mooshkymoo · 25/04/2026 10:25

@countdowntonap I just got the Emma Lewisham skin reset eye crème for free when I restocked on EL skincare this week on CB. It’s normally £74 for 15ml. Haven’t tried it yet, but I’ve been getting lots of compliments since using the EL illuminating and skin reset range (glowy skin according to friends / look like I’ve had a facelift according to DH 🤔).

I just checked now and the free gift is still available on CB if you spend £85 on the brand. Probably only worth it if you know / rate EL and looking to restock or try new skincare. Additional note: It’s in one of those handy pump things, so you don’t have to find a little spoon or stick your fingers in the jar.

Edit: I do also have the AB rich cream, so can let you know how they compare - consistency wise at least - if you’d like. Just let me know.

I found it too oily. I don’t get too many pimples these days but after a week using the ab cream one appeared by my eye. Disappointed as the ab eye patches work wonders for me. Using the rest as an expensive décolletage cream. Hoping for better results with the caudalie and banana bright from the SNK AC. Also have the Medik8 crystal eye from Sephora still to try.

I have the ab patches. Im undecided whether to use or sell as they are expensive but my eyes do need help 🤣

Don’t put potatoes on your eyes, kids. It’s a slippery slope to the hard stuff… dauphinoise!!

I love the AB rich cream and get so many compliments about my skin when I wear it, but I use it on top of my usual skincare - it seems to leave me with a pearlescent glow. Are there any other (cheaper) products that do this? MZ rich cream gives me a similar pearlescent glow but is also super spendy.

This is supposed to be a good dupe for AB Rich Cream. I haven't tried it though.

@mooshkymoo I liked the Emma Lewisham serum I tried. I plan to try more from the range in the future.

@Thelifeofawife I heard an interview with one of the hygiene bank founders who said that for people in hygiene poverty anything other than the basics are out of reach, so a lipstick or mascara can really help give them a boost when they need it. And as I had a billionty black mascaras I donated a few of them, I'll never use them all anyway

So impressed with all of you weight loss journeys am inspired by you all

Doglover73 · 25/04/2026 11:35

Just triggered a memory. I remember buying the emma lewisham supernatural cream from Caroline hirons kit and lived it. Finished it, highly unusual.
I must not go looking at it again now I have so much.
Having a bit of a tidy up and found lancome genfique day and the night cream. Has anyone tried these? X
I have the lancome set from xmas still unopened. X

You do see ACs on ebay which are listed as 're filled' and that's fair enough as they are honest about it, wouldn't buy myself as they are invariably refilled iwth inferior products using the liberty or harrods original calendar box but I suppose for some people it may be a lower cost way of doing the advent thing. But this was listed as brand new/unopened so a bit of a disappointment. Seller has agreed to the return so back it goes...

25% off the Female Founders edit (the one with the Decree Serum) code BEAUTY5

https://www.debenhams.com/product/debenhams-female-founders-edit-worth-over-220_ydd23872?colour=misc

That’s good! I kept the page open in case there were any decent offers on it, so I could buy another.
Annoyingly, TCB had a £2 bonus yesterday but there was nothing I wanted at the time that tracked cashback. Wish they had applied it today instead.

MrsBnow12 · 25/04/2026 13:09

Anyone know of any free delivery codes for Debenhams, am tempted to pick up a second of the Founders Edit

When I added to bag it offered 49p delivery.

I've played around with Coupert and found LOYALDEBS15 takes it to £27.20

Also as a point of interest the eyeliner in the kit is a very expensive one. I'd never heard of the brand but I got £10 for it on Vinted after I bought the edit a while back.

You lovely bunch of enablers! I now have a lovely jarrolds kit and Debenhams kit on there way!

Oh that code doesn’t work for me. I wonder if they have realised and pulled it. £30 is still a good price

Thanks for the code! Got two for £54.89 including shipping ☺️

It worked for me just now. Odd!

JoRaRaRa · 25/04/2026 15:36

Thank you, I've got another female founders kit on the way 🤣 @Thelifeofawife the code just worked for me, not trying to enable you, but maybe try it again 😉
I've just been to York designer outlet, it's no longer £35 for one of the tom ford eyeshadow palettes, it's £52 but buy 3 for 2 on anything in the store (except la mer and Jo Malone). So I bought the eyeshadow quad in hazy sensuality, a duo highlighter and a sparkly bronzer (all tom ford). I've bought a lot of bronzers and highlighters recently but these are sparkly so I'll wear them on evenings rather than every day. Bought those 3 for £93 so I reckon I still got a good deal there.

JoRaRaRa · 25/04/2026 15:37

@Thelifeofawife I used the code in the app, not sure if that makes a difference?

Thelifeofawife · 25/04/2026 16:00

I managed to get the code to work by going on private browser. Thanks for the enabling @OvaHere

I may not bother with the Jarrolds edit now. I begrudge paying £4.50 for delivery, the main thing I wanted was the eyeshadow stick and possibly the bag. I was going to add something to the order for free delivery but I’d be buying for the sake of it.
I may be eating my words later and cave in, but for now I’m holding off.

@JoRaRaRa You got a good deal on the TF haul. I think if you’d have bought the 3 items with the 25% off it would have cost you slightly more.

I think i need to spend some money rven though its the week before payday! Have been seeing a LOVELY man for a few weeks now but unfortunately today he said he doesn't think it will go anywhere. We've been physical and its been just okay to be honest. He was incredibly sensitive about it and tried to skirt around things, but eventually admitted that although he thinks I'm attractive and does fancy.me he just doesn't think he fancies me enough for the start of.something, and that my weight is one of the things that he'd maybe prefer to be different. I was quite obviously upset and you could tell he felt like an absolute dick, but its really knocked.me - he was incredibly nice though and i cant blame him for his preferences. Can't tell anyone in real life so thought id share with you all 😏

OvaHere · 25/04/2026 17:43

That's really crappy @LouScot you deserve a pick me up treat. Flowers

Did he really need to mention the weight though? That seems unnecessary. He felt like a dick for a reason.
