dizzydizzydizzy · 16/04/2026 19:06

No. They’re clean.

whatifs1 · 16/04/2026 19:07

Nope

RuffledKestrel · 16/04/2026 19:07

Depends how they smell for me. Some new clothes stink.

Butthechildrentheylovethebooks · 16/04/2026 19:08

No, but my friend does. We went shopping together recently and she said about washing her new things.

AxolotlEars · 16/04/2026 19:08

Nope

purser25 · 16/04/2026 19:12

Not clothes I know but I always wash towels and bed linen wouldn’t wash clothes though.

VeraWang · 16/04/2026 19:18

Only if they arrive creased and I can't be arsed to iron them.

susiedaisy1912 · 16/04/2026 19:25

Yes always.

curious79 · 16/04/2026 19:26

Never

NoWordForFluffy · 16/04/2026 19:26

Yes, every time (and towels / bedding as well).

DustyMaiden · 16/04/2026 19:27

Yes

Bourbondunker · 16/04/2026 19:29

Yes i worked in primark and another online retailer warehouse youd all be disgusted by the state of the warehouse. Also other people try clothes on/ wesr them/ return them/ soil them and they get put back out onto the shop floor where you then buy it and dont wash it... you probably wont get ill (potentially foliculutis) but its grim

Thisisnotmyid · 16/04/2026 19:29

As someone who used to work in retail .. absolutely wash them!!. You have no idea who has tried that outfit on before you or how many times it’s fallen on the floor or been touched. New clothes are never clean.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 16/04/2026 19:31

Always. I worked in retail in my teens.

bananaboats · 16/04/2026 20:06

No

DappledThings · 16/04/2026 20:07

Nope. Nor bedding or anything else. Another thing I never knew was a thing at all until MN but apparently it's quite widespread.

PhaedraTwo · 16/04/2026 20:16

No.

Fgfgfg · 16/04/2026 20:17

Never until I contracted impetigo from a new cardigan. I was wearing a strappy vest top and when it got cooler put on my new cardigan. The impetigo rash covered my arms, shoulders, and neck. The weirdest part was my back where the impetigo stopped in a straight line just above the bra strap/edge of vest. GP was fascinated, me not so much.

IfyouStealMySunshine · 16/04/2026 20:18

Just jeans, underwear and pyjamas not bothered about the rest.

JMSA · 16/04/2026 20:18

No, but yes for towels, bedding and baby clothes (back in the day!).

AdjacentPossible · 16/04/2026 20:24

I do.

Some things smell strongly of chemicals.

tofumad · 16/04/2026 20:42

Never

Pinkissmart · 16/04/2026 20:44

Absolutely. They are new, NOT clean

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/04/2026 20:45

Yes absolutely .
Only thing I wouldn't wash is a jacket or coat .
