😂😂😂 you're deluded

& as well as unclean, they're full of chemicals.

@BeCraftyFatball anything next to my skin definitely. I wouldn't wash an outdoor coat though.

They've always seemed clean to me. Nor am I bothered by the allegedly terrifying chemicals.

havingoneofthosedays · 16/04/2026 22:42

I don’t even wash clothes I buy from vinted or the charity shop

newornotnew · 16/04/2026 22:44

Yes

havingoneofthosedays · 16/04/2026 22:44

@PhaedraTwo 💯

SummerFrog2026 · 16/04/2026 22:39

You should. Apart from the fact they're not clean, handled by numerous people, they also have a lot of chemicals in/on them.

people saying they're 100 & have never done it & they're ok, have no idea what the chemicals are doing to them.

Busy work to no purpose. No thanks.

Eurgh

What do you think is going to happen? So far as second stuff it's high end, whether from Ebay or vintage shops; much is dry clean only and clearly has been cleaned.

New from shops, utterly ridiculous to wash it.

Oh and I only rarely wash wool jumpers either.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 16/04/2026 22:50

Yes if they are next to my skin.

I find t shirts smell.

OhWise1 · 16/04/2026 22:51

Yes!

Why is it ridiculous to wash clothes that have been made and transportednin god knows what conditions, not to mention where the e fabric itself has been maufactured and even further r back, where the thread has been spun

I wouldn't say it's ridiculous to wash it all. I find it unnecessary. It's ridiculous to find not washing new stuff as shocking as some claim to.

Miranda65 · 16/04/2026 22:58

No. And all of us who think the same have always been perfectly fine. This obsession with "hygiene" is just baffling. Life's too interesting/busy to even think about this stuff.

mjf981 · 16/04/2026 23:08

Yes.
A lot of them have that awful new clothes smell. I worry about chemicals and dyes (maybe this is illogical) as well.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 16/04/2026 23:14

No. Not bedlinen either, but I would wash any sort of towel or face cloth before using them.

LazyTiger26 · 16/04/2026 23:21

Yes because you have no idea who tried them on other than you in the changing rooms

LazyCatLtd · 16/04/2026 23:23

I read somewhere that new clothes often are treated with chemicals which are quite unpleasant . So yes I do always wash them.

SpottyAlpaca · 16/04/2026 23:23

No, never. I also ignore best before dates on food.

Somehow, I appear to still be alive. 🙄

I love the feel of new bed linen straight out of the packet.

I don't bother washing towels before using them will concede that towels work better for drying after a couple of washes.

Zennia · 16/04/2026 23:51

No.
What do you do if the clothes say dry clean only? Take them to the dry cleaner before wearing them?

Hayley1256 · 16/04/2026 23:58

I wouldn't wash a new coat or jacket. I do wash everything else including bedding, towels etc

They probably do.

ThisOneLife · 17/04/2026 07:30

VeraWang · 16/04/2026 19:18

Only if they arrive creased and I can't be arsed to iron them.

That makes no sense.
Now you’re going to have to wash and iron them!

SummerFrog2026 · 17/04/2026 09:46

Bunnyofhope · 16/04/2026 22:47

Busy work to no purpose. No thanks.

There is a purpose, just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it has no purpose.

Try reading some information on chemicals in clothing manufacture.

Yes, they are. Washing clothing, bedding & towels before using them is very sensible if you don't want these chemicals being absorbed into your & your families bodies 😊

SummerFrog2026 · 17/04/2026 09:50

swingingbytheseat · 16/04/2026 21:48

Absolutely not, you’d have to be mental

Or just prefer not be be absorbing all the chemicals used in manufacturing them.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 17/04/2026 09:51

No. Should I?
