Yes. They smell funny to me, all the labels have to come out as well.

MidnightMeltdown · 16/04/2026 20:51

No. Especially not evening wear. New clothes always look their best before they’ve ever been washed.

Gowlett · 16/04/2026 20:55

Just kids clothes, never my own.

Yes, always, apart from coats.

somekindof · 16/04/2026 21:20

Yes, I’ve been inside a clothes factory…

PenelopeAsks · 16/04/2026 21:31

Yes. Or have them dry cleaned.

Snorlaxo · 16/04/2026 21:34

If you ever worked in a warehouse or clothes shop, you would always wash “new” clothes because they are far from clean.

keepincool · 16/04/2026 21:34

I always wash new knickers, towels, bedding and face cloths before using them. I also wash anything I get second hand. Anything else bought new I don't usually pre-wash.

OneGreenSheep · 16/04/2026 21:43

95% of new clothes yes. New towels and bedding definitely yes!

Hannaseed · 16/04/2026 21:47

No.

swingingbytheseat · 16/04/2026 21:48

Absolutely not, you’d have to be mental

BeMellowAquaSquid · 16/04/2026 21:49

I did when buying baby clothes I was obsessed with the fact rats could have been in the delivery with them. My own clothes not so much 🤣

LateFiesta · 16/04/2026 21:56

Always.

OldWave · 16/04/2026 21:57

Absolutely.
Where are the clothes made? Who made them? What dyes, chemicals, mold, pesticides, rodents, insects, viruses, have been in contact with them on their journey halfway across the world?

LizzieSiddal · 16/04/2026 21:58

100% I always wash clothes, bedding and towels etc. same with crockery, cutlery, glasses. I can’t understand anyone not washing things you bring into your home- you don’t know where they’ve been or whose been touching them.

OhBettyCalmDown · 16/04/2026 22:04

Nope, never

Well I've survived almost 67 years without incident without washing new clothes. I don't wash clothes from Ebay, Vinted or second hand shops either.

pinkpony88 · 16/04/2026 22:28

No, but I do always have this niggling feeling that I should.

OopsieeDaisy · 16/04/2026 22:33

Usually yes, unless it’s something I need for a particular event and I don’t have time to wash and dry beforehand.

dizzydizzydizzy · 16/04/2026 19:06

No. They’re clean.

😂😂😂 you're deluded

& as well as unclean, they're full of chemicals.

@BeCraftyFatball anything next to my skin definitely. I wouldn't wash an outdoor coat though.

Legomania · 16/04/2026 22:39

No. If it smelled or had visible stains I wouldn't buy it in the first place.
I also rarely hover in public loos, and nothing bad has happened there either

You should. Apart from the fact they're not clean, handled by numerous people, they also have a lot of chemicals in/on them.

people saying they're 100 & have never done it & they're ok, have no idea what the chemicals are doing to them.
