I want to look cool, elegant and pretty! Am dreading the heat and anything synthetic fabric is just going ro be unbearable.

Dont particularly like my upper arms or back showing so strapless/strappy dresses are out and I would prefer a natural fabric in a lighter (but not bridal obvs!) colour.

A little bit sexy would be nice - not talking attention-seeking but not frumpy either. And preferably floaty maxi although wouldn't rule out a midi.

Im a 12/14 and 5'7

I dont know where to start- has anyone seen anything theyd recommend? Budget up to about £200

Only linen blend and maybe too close to bridal colour?

100% linen.

Vinted!!! I got a 100% silk dress for £15 for a destination wedding. You’ll be able to afford something really gorgeous and could risk getting it wrong a couple of times and STILL be within budget.

mumbleleaf · 12/04/2026 09:25

A few questions:
Is it humid hot or dry hot?
Is the wedding inside or outside? And will there be air con.
Inland or by the sea?
Is it a destination wedding or you're traveling because the bride and groom live in that location? Any religious or cultural considerations?

NoMumLeftBehindLiz · 12/04/2026 10:58

I bought two All Saints silk dresses on Vinted last year for my Seville holiday (41 degrees in the daytime!). I’m size 12, both were midi-maxi length and both had a small fabric belt on them to synch in my waist so they draped beautifully, but were adjustable, loose fitting in other places and were very comfortable to wear. I think they were less than £50 and had never been worn before.

AEIOYOU · 12/04/2026 11:09

Why are people suggesting silk for a 40 degree wedding? It will be so horribly sweaty and warm and will absolutely show every sweat droplet.

Something from Farm Rio

EleanorMc67 · 12/04/2026 16:22

This is pretty? Though do you want short sleeves or longer?

Posting this for the shape, as the colour/pattern will no doubt be too much for you, OP - but would you consider something off-the-shoulder? This covers the upper arms while still keeping you cool?

Your preference to cover your arms will work in your favour. Covered skin is much cooler than exposed skin. Midi or maxi both good.

Suggest cotton or linen.

It will be hard to find tho!

These are really important considerations. It might be 40 degrees outside but if you’re in an air conditioned hotel you won’t feel it.

Remember your feet will swell in the heat so choose shoes that allow for that.

This! Currently in the Caribbean where it's only high 20s but humid today. Totally different to the ME or even Southern Med.

Colour is very important! What colours will not show sweat patches easily?

Eg hot pink, pea green will immediately show up any sweat, so consider a colour where you won't be self conscious of sweat marks!
