I have used Alien by Thierry Mugler and get a lot of compliments when I use that perfume. I am currently wearing Kenzo and just received one compliment.

Fashionably london by zara (jo malone colab) i get so many comments! It used to be a steal at about £25 but they have increased the price to £36 in the past 12 months.

Glossier you

Diptyque Orpheon, I always get compliments when I wear it.

ANGIEPANGY77 · 11/04/2026 18:59

I have two. They are Euphoria and Cashmere Mist.

Manicmondayss · 11/04/2026 18:59

Alien is the most overpowering, heavy perfume I have ever smelt. It’s terrible.

2026IsMyYear · 11/04/2026 19:00

Le Labo Another 13 - two random people stopped me in work last week to comment & ask what it was & complimented it

Tom Ford Costa Azzura - i wore it to dinner last week & as soon as i walked in the door the young woman serving our table told me i smelled gorgeous

Satsuma2 · 11/04/2026 19:06

I get the most compliments when I wear Penhaligon’s Bluebell.

Not sure if you know but I think Zara Immortal Vanilla is a very close dupe. Maybe that would work better on your skin! And better for your wallet too 🤣

No I didn’t know this - will give it a try. Thank you!

TeenLifeMum · 11/04/2026 19:10

Jean Paul gaultier original - every time I wear it I get compliments. Also miss Dior is a close second - DDs spray that on their blankets when they go away so they have my smell with them (they told me this, it’s not something I suggested).

Most compliments for English Oak & Hazelnut by Jo Malone.

Yes, it’s new for me, but several people have complimented it.

Also Wood Sage and Sea Salt ( Jo Malone) and the sadly defunct Hermes ‘Un Jardin Apres La Mousson’

These woodier scents seem to suit my body chemistry.

Delina by Parfums de Marly
Portrait of a Lady by Fredrick Malle
Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel

Glitterella · 11/04/2026 19:15

On a similar thread… do you think that more expensive perfumes like from parfums de Marly are better, longer lasting and perhaps more distinct than drug store or department store kind. It just occurred to me today whilst walking through a mall that perfumes are the one thing that I haven’t occurred to buy something more ‘designer’. Is it something you could liken to perhaps having a Birken handbag vs something you could buy on the high street?

I think it really depends. E.g. I’ve tried lots of the Creed ones and they were nice but nothing special imo and didn’t last long. Delina didn’t last long on me either.

Many designer/drugstore fragrances are really long lasting (eg Interdit edp lasts all day) and Zara fashionably London mentioned here is strong and lasts. Prada paradoxe intense is also very strong and long lasting.

I think often it’s the amount someone sprays that gets the compliments as just a couple of sprays on the wrist and neck likely won’t be noticed (except for some of the very strong perfumes like Paradoxe).

Molecule 01, the only perfume where strangers have chased me down wanting to know what it is

BridgetJonesV2 · 11/04/2026 19:27

DH bought me a 150ml bottle of La Vie Est Belle for Christmas. I do like it but wouldn't have bought a bottle in that size, I've barely moved the perfume down in 4 months Shock ... but I'm often asked what I'm wearing!

KevinsSignatureShortdeads · 11/04/2026 19:32

I know it’s already been mentioned lots, but I get so many compliments from men and women (both known to me, and complete strangers) about Zara’s Fashionably London. I don’t even think it’s that nice, but honestly, nearly every time I wear it, at least one person will say something.

I don't think there's much correlation between price and longevity. If it's a cheaper fragrance, you can better afford to reapply it often during the day, of course.

If I'm considering a perfume what I usually do is spray on the tester at the start of the shopping trip, then wait until I'm ready to go home to smell how it has developed on me and how well it has lasted. If it's still smelling nice, I'll buy it then.

I really don't like perfumes that go powdery or soapy on my skin, and that's a good way of weeding them out.

MadisonMontgomery · 11/04/2026 19:34

Molecule 01 - I stopped wearing it because I couldn’t smell it on myself, it’s a weird one because people either can’t seem to tell you’re wearing perfume, or absolutely love it - probably the one perfume I’ve been stopped by strangers to ask what I’m wearing.

My personal favourite is Zara Red Temptation - dupe of Baccarat Rouge, also get a lot of compliments from colleagues, friends when wearing.

I also love Aquolina Pink Sugar but it’s completely polarising - people either love it it absolutely hate it, I stopped wearing it a lot because one of my colleagues can’t stand it 🙈

I don’t like it either. I have it and wear it sometimes but it reminds me of a bowl of old fashioned dried rose pot pourri. Every time I wear it I try to like it. It’s mentioned so much on forums as being one to get compliments on so there must be something about it that appeals to others!

KatharinaRosalie · 11/04/2026 19:52

Juliette Has a Gun Miami Shake. People in Fragrantica hate it, but I've gotten so many compliments and several people have bought the same after me.

Florrieboo · 11/04/2026 23:02

Tihota by Indult gets me compliments every single time, I was at a chocolate factory one day and the employee followed me to tell me that I smelled better than the chocolate.
I also get a lot of compliments when I wear Borntostandout Sugar Addict. I love sweet fragrances and love when they get complimented. I never compliment anyone else on their fragrance though, I need to start doing that.

Isabelle70 · 11/04/2026 23:32

Amourage Guidance, I get compliments at work and a lady following me in the street asked me what it was one day.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/04/2026 23:38

Alien but the fake version and so many couldn’t beleive it was £8

BeaLola · 11/04/2026 23:39

I always get compliments when wearing Estée Lauder’s Knowing

Screamingabdabz · 11/04/2026 23:42

Prada Paradox, Miss Dior and Versace Crystal Noir. Always get compliments.
