I have used Alien by Thierry Mugler and get a lot of compliments when I use that perfume. I am currently wearing Kenzo and just received one compliment.

Coco mademoiselle.

Molocule 01 smells awful on me - sort of a damp smell. On others it is fabulous :-(

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 12/04/2026 18:52

Cabotine - lovely and fresh and ‘green’. I can’t bear heavy, musky or over-sweet perfumes. Not so easy to find now, but a dd found me some recently.

DailyMaui · 12/04/2026 18:53

I'm horrified that it's suggested that you spray 15 times - you'd overpower people if you did this with any of my faves.

My favorite perfumes are:
Miller Harris Soufflot - I get compliments on this all the time. A nutty gourmand but not sweet or sickly. I love it in Autumn and winter.
Miller Harris Hidden on the Rooftops: this is the one that gets the most compliments. Floral, touch of honey. Lovely summer scent.
Kayali Tobacco Oud: smells nothing like tobacco or oud thank god but a fabulous syrupy incense. If you sprayed 15 squirts of this you'd probably kill people. Three sprays last all day and it projects really well. Lots of compliments from men. It's a winter perfume for me.
Tauer Perfumes Au Coeur Du Desert: possibly the best perfume ever made. So good and only a couple of sprays are enough. I have had several people chase me down the street wanting to know what this is. Another winter one. I love so many perfumes from Andy Tauer, he's a bit of a genius imho.
L'Artisan Parfumeur Passage D'Enfer: a very airy incense, churchy but ethereal. No one but me likes this... I only wear it in December.
Agent Provocateur L'Agent: sadly discontinued. A very sexy incense, not at all churchy. Rich and seductive. Used to be my signature perfume and I always got compliments when I wore it.
Maison Louis Marie Bois de Balincourt: smells very like Le Labo's Santal 33 but I think it's better, more fun, more sunshine. Lovely for spring/summer and my family always comments on it.
Tauer Perfumes L'Air du Desert Marocain: a wonder, a floral spicy marvel with layers and layers of intrigue. Truly, it is incredible. Everyone seems to love it. Last all day with just a couple of sprays.

Perfume is my obsession. I have so many that I need to split them into Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer. I love that I get to rediscover half of them when I swap over. I adore spring and summer as seasons but prefer perfumes that work better in the cold even though I hate being cold. I get very disappointed when a perfume smells a bit meh or doesn't last. Too many perfumes are weak and boring.

Alien extraordinaire got me loads of compliments. Sadly discontinued.

mathanxiety · 12/04/2026 18:59

Victor and Rolf Good Fortune Elixir Intense. I love it and I've received compliments on it.

I also.love Soleil by Fragonard, (and Violette also Fragonard but sadly discontinued).

It's not especially trendy or expensive but Kenzo Flowers is my favourite and I always get compliments

What kind of scent is this? Someone said it was similar to the discontinued d&g feminine which I loved

MyEasterBonnet · 12/04/2026 19:01

Does anyone use any of those dupe brands? My algorithm has been shouting them all at me since I’ve been posting on here about perfume.

Lifeomars · 12/04/2026 19:02

I've been stopped when wearing a L'occitane (sp) oriental scent but I can't recall its name as I finished it a while ago. I have had compliments when wearing Molton Brown's Fiery Pink Pepper. I love perfume, wish I had the money to lash out on Penhaligons, are the scents as gorgeous as they say? As for Alien, many years ago I worked with someone who wore it and it made me so nauseous I used to worry i was pregnant!

Carerofhedgehog · 12/04/2026 19:02

Why do I never get compliments on my perfume? My husband may mention it sometimes but nobody else!

MrFluffyDogIsMyBestFriend · 12/04/2026 19:04

Guerlain Shalimar and Lancome Hypose. I never receive compliments :(

Divain is good. I always buy their Hypnose because it's exactly the same and lasts ages. Some of the brands go off very quickly but the Divain perfumes don't. They vary a lot though and they often need to macerate...which means they need to be kept for 2/3 months to mature properly.

CalicoCaterina · 12/04/2026 19:08

Dipytique Eau Capitale is my favourite perfume, not sure about the number of compliments I get on it, one or two a week I guess, it is all I wear. I use the hair mist when I'm going to work and have a little solid one. I save the eau de parfum for when I am not at work as I'd hate to be the person with the overly strong perfume.

fabuary · 12/04/2026 19:13

What are those lovely sandalwoody Arabic perfumes that seem to be everywhere? it is one specific smell I smell a lot. mostly younger people wearing it. is it one specific brand?

Potofbegonias · 12/04/2026 19:16

MyEasterBonnet · 12/04/2026 10:51

Ooh I’m definitely not spraying enough then, I probably do 5 - neck, neck, torso, wrist, wrist. Will try more.

You shouldn't need 15 sprays of anything unless it's pissweak. 4-6 should be fine for EDT or EDP.

Juliette Has a Gun Miami Shake. People in Fragrantica hate it, but I've gotten so many compliments and several people have bought the same after me.

I love this one. I have it too. Gorgeous

Brunointhemiddle · 12/04/2026 19:22

Fashionably London or Cocoa Sunset both Zara

Sickdissapointed · 12/04/2026 19:23

I think Alien is gorgeous.
arrived late at a meeting and as I sat down a colleague shrieked oh my god cat pee!!
put me off a bit -

Imabitbusyatthemoment · 12/04/2026 19:23

I also have been complimented loads of times when wearing La Vie Est Belle but received it as a gift and have found it too sweet when I went to replace it.

Sortalike · 12/04/2026 19:24

Aromatics Elixir I've worn it for decades and it's my signature scent - I've had several compliments on it.

I also love Armani Elle, and always have a bottle of it for holidays - lots of "oooh that smells gorgeous" comments but I don't think its that popular.

FlawlessShiv · 12/04/2026 19:27

Too many to count but, my most complimented perfume is Summer Pink by Reef, followed by English Pear and Freesia layered with Peony rose, on its own wood sage and sea salt, all by Jo Malone.
I like Oud perfumes, Miller Harris - Scherzo is perfect balance of oud, floral and fruity and another oud fave is Delina Exclusif.
Angel’s share and Love don’t be shy by Killian Love also smells amazing!!!

parkezvous · 12/04/2026 19:28

Ebony wood Zara!

Madisnttheword · 12/04/2026 19:30

Baccarat Rouge. Literally get compliments everyday

Olliepollie23 · 12/04/2026 19:31

Creed Avensus for Her is my favourite.

Bowies · 12/04/2026 19:36

I’ve been chased down in the street wearing Miller Harris Lumiere Doree, but it’s actually one of my least favourites (blind buy).

I have really liked Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady and Kenzo Flower on others.

A lot of the popular perfumes mentioned I really dislike.

I do know someone who wears the Next Pink one for every day and that does smell really nice on her.

I do like Eau Capitale as well, had kind of forgotten about that, but it manages to evoke both fresh and polished.

Doximama2 · 12/04/2026 19:38

Love Luna by Penhaligons, get lots of compliments about it!
