Sardine dresses?

Chic and French feeling or incredibly naff gimmick?

My two pennorth...
Not keen on the one that actually says 'sardines': much too literal. We can see they're small fish; we're not idiots. The blue and white is much better (having just the one colour helps as it's less garish - although inevitably my 'garish' will be someone else's 'bold and striking'). My only objection is a personal dislike of designs with midline symmetry - if the fish were merrily swimming all round the skirt it would get a definite thumbs-up from me. The other dress is much safer, but also much less interesting and less fun.

Unless they’re all from the same shop it can hardly be a ‘gimmick’, surely? Or even a theme.

I see nothing particularly French about any of those dresses. Whether or not a person might look chic in a sardine printed frock is dependent on too many variables to be considered in the abstract!

I absolutely love the sardine tin aesthetic, I bought 2 cross stitch patterns yesterday and I'm on the look out for a sardine sweatshirt.

Not keen on the white v neck with crabs on but the other two are fun.

I love the really loud one on the left, I love that shape and I think the print is really fun. It's not my style, but I would admire it on someone else. I think the other two are fine, but a different league, less interesting and I wouldn't really notice it out and about.

Neither particularly French, nor chic, imo, but if you want a cheerful outfit, it's perfect. Nice bold colours and prints.

Personally, I'm not keen and I wouldn't buy them. It's personal opinion, some people might love them!

I can’t stand sardines so wouldn’t go about dressed as a tin of them. Actually like the first dress, though, but would feel as though anyone wearing it should be handing out 25p off coupons outside Sainsbury’s.

I quite like them but as a vegetarian I'll obviously be wearing one emblazoned with 'tofu' print instead.

I think they are hilarious. I like the sardine thing on knitwear and craft patterns but I'm not sure about the dresses, especially that first one. Christ.

I've got a china cat food bowl with sardines swimming round the outside so no - i'd feel i was dressed like the cat bowl.

I have one that is blue with white sardines. Love it and get lots of compliments…especially from Americans.
