I’ve fallen in love with a Givenchy dress…

Help me find one that’s as close in style as possible.

Ideally no more than £150 (the Givenchy one is £1500).

It could be black or navy.
It could be mini or midi length.

Thank you!

Women can wear whatever they like! Legs or boobs is such old fashioned bullshit and designed to keep women in their box. Fashion is supposed to be fun!
Some of these comments reek of jealously and insecurity, once again, the OP didn’t ask for comments on the dress, she asked for a dupe!

I didn't say "should" . I said I wish I didn't see women's boobs on show. It isn't stylish. Totally my view.

Another poster says it needs to be legs or boobs on show, and that rule might help. It's the overall effect. In this case I think it's showy and cheap looking, regardless what it might actually cost.

I agree with you.... I find people pretty gross when everything hangs out. You lose any respect for them and you almost feel sad for them, watching them chatting along completely unaware how poorly they appear to the outside world. There is a time and place for everything.
That's just my opinion, and people may agree or disagree.

The time and place for this dress is surely a 20 something party or nightclub. What makes you think the OP is intending to wear it anywhere else?

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 11/03/2026 07:38

To be honest, I think the humour was unintentionally added by SoScarlet’s brief summary of the various dupes she offered.

The original dress would be beautiful on the right figure, but does have some impractical features. I had a beautiful boned bodice dress, fit me like a glove, yet I could effectively lift myself out of it by stretching to my fullest height and bending a little backwards. It worked by gravity. Anything that interfered with gravity would have had my bust out of the dress.

Practicality does need to be considered with even the most glamorous dress. Standing on a red carpet? Absolutely. Anything involving much movement, probably not. And some of the alternatives offered were even more impractical- the warnings about the dangers of inexpensive structured dresses were helpful.

You're drawing your own conclusions. I never mentioned the OP and was not referring to her. I was referring to people in general who let it all hang out in excess. They can do whatever they want or feel comfortable with, but I personally find it gross.

2026onwardsandup · 11/03/2026 08:14

Sorry can’t help with dupes . I actually like the dress , the shape , structure and the exaggerated lower half .

Ok not suitable for dear great auntie Beryl’s funeral / most interviews/ doing the dishes SmileSmileSmile.
This is style and beauty so give the OP a break .

I think if you have the figure for it - go for a similar style . Looking back I wore a few amazing figure hugging dresses to parties . At the time I probably didn’t have that much confidence and didn’t appreciate how I looked .

So I hope that you find your dress and feel fabulous when you wear it !StarStarStar

Yes, I feel like you really need to

  1. See the dress without the model to fully understand the engineering (my first photo attached). And then
  2. Know that it IS actually made from an engineered knit - what they are doing, creating these hard shapes with soft fabric, is not cheap. You may not find one exactly like it… yet. If you run the photo I shared through Google Lens, you get some options, like this BCBG dress. You could look for it in other sizes on Vinted or EBay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/126784056013 And BCBG seem to do a lot with this neckline so just check their stuff out.

The problem is that the bust on such a dress can’t be made of anything BUT knit, unless you add more structuring, because they look square/diamond but then curve to the body. Other fabrics just won’t do it the same way. But give it a year, and then you should have some better copycats, because everyone and their brother covered this as a seminal dress by “Sarah Burton now at Gucci” for Spring 26.

EDIT: Givenchy not Gucci. And this dress was also recommended as a dupe by AI. I can see it. editorialist.com/p/susana-monaco-notched-neck-minidress/

That's not a dress, it's a structural engineering project

🤣

It appears to be an assumption that women who basically don't like this look reek of jealousy. Have they considered women with this view might just look amazing in figure hugging clothes but simply wouldn't wear this particular boobs out look with a bra style top. Modesty can be sexy too.

Tacky

When I was younger, it was either boob/cleavage OR legs on display definately not both out together. Always told it wisnae classy.
Guess times have changed 😂

What does that have to do with women’s choices and independence?

Guess what: not everyone likes seeing boobs and butts everywhere. I don’t find that attractive at all, and I don’t see what’s wrong with saying that. And no, I’m not jealous. I love my body, but I prefer to leave some things to the imagination.

Classy these days is not having your arsehole on display. Different times indeed.

You are contradicting yourself. This is the OP’s choice, and you are calling her tacky and saying she should cover up. Women can wear whatever they want.

I didn’t say that. I said my own opinion—that I personally don’t like looking at boobs and butts. At no point did I say she is tacky, should cover up or that she shouldn’t wear that dress.

It seems like you’re trying to find reasons to be offended. That’s your choice, but it doesn’t mean I’m in the wrong.

pottylolly · 11/03/2026 12:54

I would suggest trying it on to see how it looks on you. Then trying to find the dupe. A style like this only looks good on very specific body types

I’m not sure why such a woman would feel the need to bloviate on how much they don’t like something they’re not being asked to wear. I don’t like it either, and the fact that OP does has absolutely no bearing on my own life or sartorial choices. Someone liking something I don’t isn’t a personal affront.

OP likes the dress and asked for recommendations for dupes. That’s it. It’s fine that you don’t like the dress and wouldn’t wear it. You don’t have to. No one is telling you that you should and/or trying to shoehorn you into it. Relax.

I don't know. It worries me that fashion puts pressure on women to dress in ways that titillate strangers - I feel almost the opposite - that fashion is misogynistic - encouraging women to 'look good' by squeezing into clothes that show off their boobs and bums and thighs. This is for the gratification of men generally, so they can ogle and fantasise.

If women in lockdown didn't wear these clothes, then surely they aren't the clothes we feel most comfortable in. I'm not suggesting we should all slob around in joggers and slippers, but is it really liberating to women to wear clothes that almost reveal our breasts and genitals to anyone who wants a letch for free? I don't think so.

I could say it was internalised misogyny to want to present yourself as a sex object. I don't know if people think that's an extreme idea but you could certainly make a case for it.

A woman thinking another woman is presenting herself as a sex object by the clothes she wears is an exact example of internalised misogyny.

Very disappointing to see women judge other women like this. Such an embarrassing and archaic view.

I wholeheartedly disagree with this statement.

As society progresses, I believe women are encouraged to dress and do things for themselves,
not for the “gratification of men”. All of the women I know couldn’t give a shit what a man thinks of their body or their outfit.

It’s 2026! Time for this archaic and misogynistic mindset to move swiftly on.
