I’ve fallen in love with a Givenchy dress…

Help me find one that’s as close in style as possible.

Ideally no more than £150 (the Givenchy one is £1500).

It could be black or navy.
It could be mini or midi length.

Thank you!

Nadine Merabi have some very architectural / structured dresses, and their sales are good

Deleted as someone suggested already

It’s a pretty close match though so worth repeating!

Sidebeforeself · 10/03/2026 14:01

It looks very uncomfy. You’d be constantly hoiking and fiddling . Perhaps not in the Givenchy one but I cant see a cheaper one being sufficiently well made.

And where would you wear it?!

I do realise Im not the target customer group for this dress

stargirl27 · 10/03/2026 14:05

I must have missed the part where OP asked for opinions on the dress🙄

She didnt. But it’s not against the rules.

I didn't say it was but the unwarranted opinions of random strangers are pretty irrelevant!

Unwarranted opinions of random strangers is pretty much guaranteed on an internet forum!

I agree.
Also, the dress looks good mainly because of the model wearing it. I’m not sure it would look as good on someone with bigger boobs or a chunkier body.

I suspect OP is well aware of her body shape and believes she will look good in it, hence searching for a more affordable dress in the same style.

Pollyanna87 · 10/03/2026 14:42

Seems there’s a lot of jealousy on this thread from women who wish they could look great in the dress.

Sorry, OP, I don’t have any suggestions but I hope you find something, I’m sure you’ll look amazing!

Why bother giving one though? It’s such a waste of time.

lulujuju · 10/03/2026 14:46

It's a beautiful dress and I agree with others, those laughing and making negative comments have a hint of jealousy about them!

It's a forum. Don't look on the internet if you don't want opinions.

Sidebeforeself · 10/03/2026 14:53

I’m not remotely jealous. I was just pointing out that a cheaper version is unlikely to be made as well as it would need to be to have the same effect . Just in case OP hadn’t considered that. Not saying she’s wrong just trying to be helpful. I’m sure OP is perfectly capable of ignoring comments if she doesn’t find them helpful!

CookingFatCat · 10/03/2026 15:13

Breasts or legs but not both is still a good style direction!

It's a forum. Don't look on the internet if you don't want opinions.

There’s a difference between discussion and just being unhelpful. The OP asked for a cheaper alternative, not a group vote on whether people like the dress. Saying it’s horrible or mocking the OP choice of clothing doesn’t really help, it just comes across as a bit mean.

DeftGoldHedgehog · 10/03/2026 15:51

It looks nice on the model. I'm a C/D cup and not massively boobed but it would be like spring busting out all over up front on me.

Laiste · 10/03/2026 15:57

The Givenchy dress isn't even particularly revealing !

What's funny about the dresses suggested? Is there a load of awkward 12 year old boys in here or something? 'Sides splitting' with laughter at a dress ... 🙄

pokemoan · 10/03/2026 16:01

People are right that a cheaper option won’t have the same structure/scaffolding

Sadly this has started to creep into S&B lately. It used to be a nice enabling place, now posters mistake it for AIBU.

TealReader · 10/03/2026 16:48

OP do you need that dress for something in particular? Is it a dress you would wear frequently in different ways? (I like to justify expensive clothing with a cost per wear). Have you tried it on? If not I would!

I agree with others- cheaper imitations will not match this one. If you really love it what I would do is- find it on every website possible and put a watch on it (net a porter MyTheresa outnet bessette etc) as it may well be significantly reduced at the end of the season or pop up on an outlet site. Set up an alert with Vestiare and and local designer exchange places. If in the UK - local shops and Sellier etc.

in the meantime put aside as much as you can each month, and it may take a long time but you’ll have the money eventually!

I have started investing more in my clothes. I probably would not spend that much on a dress for occasions etc but I would spend a lot on clothes I wear a lot. I’ve really wanted a pair of Margiela Tabi loafers for a long time and have been saving- last week they dropped 60% on Net a Porter so I snapped them up and I love them so much. These are a very marmite item and I’m sure most people here would say I’ve got more money than sense but when I love shoes I will wear them to death so the cost per wear will be pennies eventually,

DairyMilkFreeZone · 10/03/2026 19:38

Wow there are some really unpleasant people on this thread.

NessieMonsta · 10/03/2026 20:22

If the dress will suit you, OP, invest in it and also have it altered for an absolutely exact fit if necessary. The structure makes it elegant. It is about the interplay of hard tailoring and soft curves. The cheaper versions are too booby in a boring way because they lack that contrast of sharp frame (dress) and rounded content (figure).

I could imagine Xena Warrior Princess wearing it to a banquet, and that is a sincere compliment.

I would not wear it because I am not the right shape but rock it if you can! Kudos.

It's beautiful, but if that dress set on fire my breasts would know exactly where the emergency exit was.
