Meanwhile I have ordered some FitFlops direct from FF. I am a size 5, but nowadays 5.5 in FF seems to fit better. Unfortunately half sizes aren’t stocked in shops, so online is the only way. That inevitably means I will be sending at least some pairs back 😿

I have ordered a pair of the fisherman sandals as per @faustina’s recommendation. Sadly only black or white available in half sizes, so black it had to be!

Btw: JL have some FitFlops on sale but they don’t stock half sizes.

@IlovePond I find if Fitflop themselves don't do a shoe in half sizes, then a 6 works for me (also a 5.5). If you can wear shoes with no backs, these are the most comfortable pair - I've walked miles in mine, and they look nicely minimal and go with everything

IlovePond · 03/05/2026 13:28

They look really nice @faustina .

Unfortunately 6 is too big for me. Size 5 fit exactly, but I always prefer a tiny bit of clearance at front and back in sandals , so 5.5 it has to be.

However, I have taken a chance on a pair of waterproof ones in size 6. I should probably have ordered the 5 as well, but my order was getting very big!

Thanks @faustina - I will report back

Ok so I also went for the fish sundress! I love it. However the strap pattern is good on mine and I don’t have any issues with the side buttons. They are a bit neat but I have a few Toast items like this and I can fasten them up fairly easily. I am slightly built 5ft 3 and the dress comes down almost to my ankles but it still works well. Wore it instantly as it was so lovely here yesterday afternoon. Chilly by the evening though - definitely for warm days. I am quite taken with the idea of the top to wear over it as suggested on here… might have a think about that idea!

ScallopShellWalk · 03/05/2026 16:25

I had an hour in Toast Edinburgh today. I looked at some of the sleeveless dresses. The block print warp check looks lovely and the material and colour is light and airy looking but not see through. The navy lightweight seersucker is see through for sure. I liked the look and material of the tablier stripe pinafore. I didn’t try any sleeveless dresses. The fish one in Edinburgh looked nice with straps that were similar in colour. Very lovely print. I tried on the fish top and it is very lovely but it was too bare around the armholes for me. I felt it totally drew attention here and I didn’t like what I saw.
Although the sobremesa dress was not in the shop the men’s shirt in the same fabric was there. I think the fabric is lovely and I’d like to try this dress when it comes into store.
I tried the white dress in my size and the smaller size. I wanted to like this so much and it is lovely. Not particularly lovely on me though. Long to the top of my feet I’m 5’2”. But my back is quite short so the ‘waistline’ is lower than my naval. I think this is what had it look less nice on me. I tried the table setting print dress and it’s lovely but not what I wanted. But aha the brown smock dress is beautiful. If only it wasn’t so expensive as I really just want a dress to knock about in. I may consider sale.
I tried the stripe linen culottes and stripe shirt as paired online. I was sorely tempted by the culottes, as I had admired them for a while but it just wasn’t right. They are quite heavy in material everywhere including the waist. More dressy than slouchy comfy.
So I tried the cotton twill belted trousers and just like that I knew they were for me. I also tried on a few tops, some lovely nice patterned ones but in the end went with a simple Alda stripe cotton tea. Very happy.
It’s interesting, I get attracted by all the “catch your eye” loveliness and in the end felt most happy with something very simple. I now have my light coloured bottoms for summer that I wanted and I also have my first toast tee.

ScallopShellWalk · 03/05/2026 16:45

Sorry, everything was “lovely” it seems. 🤣

hicat · 03/05/2026 17:28

Ohhoo I just ordered the contrast enamel salad bowl and jug (ochre/brown). I’m quite excited to receive them. I dont really dip into homeware but as I’m too huge to consider new clothes atm that I can’t try for sizing it’s sent me into that section. Would love the lobster tea towel too! 🦞 those with the other one, is it a nice quality cloth?

I managed to sell enough on vinted to pay for the decho sun hat so am excited to get to keep it! Not that it’s sunny.

Stoic123 · 03/05/2026 18:26

@hicat - great quality tea towel. Thick material without being overly stiff.

ScallopShellWalk · 03/05/2026 20:55

After leaving the shop I’ve kept thinking about the linen knit tanks. So I’ve gone and ordered a button up one in the green.

Countmeout · 04/05/2026 08:41

Thank you for all that information @ScallopShellWalk, I’m glad you found something you liked.
I am a bit disappointed that the navy seersucker dress is so see through. I will try it at sale time if it’s still there.

CoasttoToast · 04/05/2026 08:43

@ScallopShellWalk

CoasttoToast · 04/05/2026 08:55

MN so glitchy
Have tried to edit previous message but its exhausting trying !

@ScallopShellWalk Thanks for the review of the fish vest, low cut armholes are a pet hate so will leave it

Ive ordered the fish dress in a 12 to see if the bust area fits better and a 10 in the Fig dress
Reviews for the Fig state huge in the hips so sized down to a 10

ScallopShellWalk · 04/05/2026 08:59

@Countmeout the seersucker dress had a stripe pattern running down that looked perforated if not then especially thin. Alongside a more solid fabric. So I’d say ribbed? Not the whole fabric was see through but the effect was. It would be light and breezy. Maybe it would be fine enough as not all of the material is see through. I imagine it’d be great in hot weather with a light breeze reaching your legs. It was beautiful and soft and a lovely colour.

ScallopShellWalk · 04/05/2026 09:11

@CoasttoToast what may have affected the fit of the fish top on me and maybe armholes, is that I tried in my usual size 10, however the fit size calculator on the website recommends an 8. I didn’t know that and didn’t try an 8. I guess it’s possible I would have found the armholes ok but even looking online the model shows it might be the top. I don’t normally care much of wearing vest tops but that one was not nice at the armholes on me. The top was a beautiful material. It seemed to fit me across the shoulders/back but could arguable been a little wide at the base. Maybe I should have tried an 8. But there’s lots of other lovely tops so no need really. A quick decision that it wasn’t right on me is really all I needed. Might be different for you.

hicat · 04/05/2026 11:19

Would anyone that found the right kind of round reed for the basket weaving mind linking it here? Going down a bit of a wormhole! Did you opt for 2-3mm? And how many meters? I almost went with one option but then realised it was bamboo and apparently that’s no good!

faustina · 04/05/2026 11:27

@hicat - annoyingly it doesn't say what the diameter of the reed should be. I messaged the organisers yesterday to ask and will post on here when I get a response

hicat · 04/05/2026 12:49

Ah great thanks @faustina :)

Delara · 04/05/2026 12:51

Hi all, does anyone have experience with the men's clothes and knows what the quality is like? Ive only got a few pieces of the women's but am thinking of getting a gift card for my partner as he's been after some new trousers.

hicat · 04/05/2026 21:51

@Delara sizes can be unpredictable much like with women’s wear, but my partner has a few shirts, a jacket, and a jumper and they are all my favourite pieces of his clothing. He says he gets lots of compliments on things at work :)

triggers34 · 05/05/2026 08:23

Good morning , I don’t often post , I finally made it to Kilver court , we were attending a wedding nearby . I came away with brown cord barrel legs , I’m pleased they’re now sold out as I paid full price 😊!
@BimblesalongHow do you know your account has been linked ? I’ve made a couple of in store purchases and I’m keen to get early access to the sale. Is it the shop app because all my purchases are on that ?

I’ve also sourced a couple of things from Vinted a natural linen boxy boatneck top and some wool culottes , the latter haven’t arrived and the top has a small mark but it was such a bargain it doesn’t really show, I may dye it at a later date .

IlovePond · 05/05/2026 09:21

@triggers34 - you have to tell the person on the till and give your email address so that they can link the purchase to your account. I have never once been asked in Toast, I always have to mention it myself, which is annoying if I forget!

triggers34 · 05/05/2026 11:27

@IlovePond thank-you , I was asked for my email and able to post reviews so I must be ok .

IlovePond · 05/05/2026 11:35

That’s good @triggers34 I like the KC shop. Did you look at the outlet stuff? They had very little when I was there at Easter, unfortunately.
