Vinted - Massive Price Increases

newbie202020 · 17/02/2026 21:09

I'd taken a break from Vinted for a few months and had a browse this evening in preparation for a warm holiday.

I'm really surprised to see a big increase in prices - not for sellers who are obviously selling fakes (eg multiple versions of the same item, brand new) but seemingly normal sellers with items for sale at virtually the same price as buying new eg a dress from Zara 'new without tags' but with a picture of the sellers wearing it out for £40. This seems to be very different to just a few months ago.

Equally I've seen a number of sellers with 'new, with tags' items for sale for a few hundred pounds, well in excess of the price of a new River Island/H&M dress. Are others seeing the same and what's driving this? For the very inflated prices, is this a scam? They seem to have been favourites many times.

Some Zara stuff does seem expensive for what it is but I haven’t seen anything too crazy for high street. There are still good deals, today I got a suede jacket for £45 when it’s still online for £139 and in stock.

But as high St prices have gone up, and more people use Vinted the prices on there will inevitably go up. Lots of expensive things I’ve watched have sold really quickly.

Poppins2016 · 17/02/2026 21:15

I suppose it's cost of living - everyone wants or needs to make as much as they can.

It is frustrating though. I refuse to buy items that are listed close to or at RRP. There's no benefit to me at all and it's not as though I can return the item if I don't like it.

Hephzibah64 · 17/02/2026 21:30

I saw a pair of boots on Vinted that I have. The seller had them priced at £250 . Thought I’d get mine up for sale and be quids in. Quick google shows EBay has them for £35!

Samanabanana · 17/02/2026 21:33

I've just spent £45 and bought 8 items BNWT. Mainly M&S and H&M stuff. So I've not noticed a massive increase but I think some sellers always try and push their luck!

MynameisJune · 17/02/2026 21:36

It’s the amount of fakes on there. I don’t think most people know that you can get fake copies of brands like Sandro, Maje and Sezane. There are a huge amount of these brands all new with tags and into 3 figure prices. They all appear to sell but I’d bet money on most being fake from Ali express/DH gate etc.

Marylou2 · 17/02/2026 21:44

Can't believe the number of obvious fakes on Vinted at the moment. As previous posters have said it's particularly obvious with Sezane. They need to get a grip or all trust will be lost.

SilenceInside · 17/02/2026 21:48

The most expensive H&M dresses that I can find on Vinted right now are a collaboration with Paco Rabanne so presumably were expensive to begin with and are rare to find. Or fake.

Expensive “River Island” and “Zara” all seem to be mis-categorised either deliberately or accidentally. There are some weird “bundles” listings that are clearly not just a single dress, but seem to be some sort of short cut to avoid listing lots of individual designer dresses.

When doing my normal searches, I’m not seeing any changes to prices at all.

somanychristmaslights · 17/02/2026 21:55

I’m finding the opposite. I’m having to reduce my prices to be able to shift anything.

MayaPinion · 18/02/2026 21:16

I’ve reported loads of fake DMs and the sellers - new, no reviews - have been taken down, but when a seller has reviews/followers they generally say there’s no cause to believe it’s a fake, even when they’re really easy to spot. I’ve given up now or I’d spent all day doing fake hunting.

treeowl · 18/02/2026 21:17

I have always paid RRP for something that has sold out etc.

Freeasabreeze · 22/02/2026 15:59

I’ve been noticing the same recently.

Just been looking this afternoon as I want a cheapish gilet for walking the dog in the Springtime, bog standard brand nothing fancy but some people are still asking quite a bit for used ones. There was a stand looking used used New Look one up for £25.

It’s always hit and miss as I’ve had a few duds recently so at that price tag I’d rather buy new.

Puppylucky · 22/02/2026 16:04

Yes I have absolutely noticed this. I think some items are sold out from the original retailer so people are charging a premium but other items such as M+S carrot jeans seem insanely popular and people are really pushing their luck pricing wise. But as you say I'm not paying high prices for what is basically a bit of a gamble.

Manymoresometimes · 22/02/2026 16:35

I was looking for thermal vests/sock and most of them are being sold for the price they paid for them!

henlake7 · 22/02/2026 16:52

I think it depends on the item. Ive noticed Joanie has gone up, probably due to the company closing down.
Although I just bought a lovely Zara coat for £14 and Im pretty happy with that!

LaurieFairyCake · 22/02/2026 16:56

Totally the opposite for me. I’ve put up a brand new pair of Russell and Bromley biker boots which cost about over 200 for under £60. They’re literally the cheapest brand new pair on there and no offers yet.

no idea why 🤷‍♀️

The week before payday can have an effect in my experience. I bet they will get snapped up next week .

NOTANUM · 22/02/2026 18:19

Russell and Bromley has a big closing down sales so the market is flooded.

I agree Vinted is no longer good value or ruined with fakes. I’ve been tracking some sellers of trainers and the only sellers with reviews are people who bought on Vinted and flipping due to size or quality.

LaurieFairyCake · 22/02/2026 18:23

Oh I didn’t realise they’d closed down. Surprised that hasn’t pushed the prices up but I guess if there’s a massive sale then not 😳

LaurieFairyCake · 22/02/2026 18:25

So the Russell and Bromley website (and I assume the sale has gone !) Bloody hell, thought they’d have loads of stock to sell

PeonyPatch · 22/02/2026 18:30

I’ve noticed the opposite. My items are just NOT selling. I’m having to reduce to £5 and below and I’m selling Zara, John Lewis, M&S, Ted baker etc!!!

newbie202020 · 22/02/2026 20:05

Thanks for all of the replies - interesting to hear the range of different experiences!

Whowhatwerewolf · 22/02/2026 20:21

I'm definitely not noticing this. Last month I bought a real suede Jigsaw long coat for £50 that would have been £450 new, a Gerard Darel shearling coat for £40, some current season Autograph wide leg jeans for £6.50 (I already had a pair the exact same I paid around £50 for), a Celtic and Co fair isle cardigan for £30, etc. The prices for the things I want are so good I'm struggling not to buy even though I was planning on a low buy year. That's well and truly gone out the window!

I sold two Sandro dresses for about £10 each, I had no idea of their value tbh
(items given to me to sell)

MidnightMeltdown · 22/02/2026 20:31

It’s probably because so many buyers send ridiculous offers

Puppylucky · 22/02/2026 20:34

But sellers don't have to accept ridiculous (in their eyes) offers.
