If you have lizard skin

What are your favourite products, secrets, tricks and tips? Face and body. If you've improved your dry, dry skin, what's your regimen?

I do have an underlying medical issue that makes it worse (diabetes) but I want lovely soft gently gleaming skin.

As budget friendly as possible, ideally.

My body is worse than my face. My legs are literally scaly. I've basically got chicken legs.

Help!

I like aveno moisturiser for body. They do version for very dry skin.
Could it be your age? I had horrible dry itchy skin on lower legs and it was peri menopause related. Hrt helped.

minnowonthesay · 15/02/2026 06:50

I use bio oil on my legs at night, it really works. After my morning shower I use Nivea in the big pump bottle £4.99 in Boots at the moment.

This looks worth a try. I have Nivea in the blue tin but find it doesn’t spread very well if skin is damp.

Do you use the bio oil on dry (as in not wet) skin at night?

Bath oil

Springisnearlyspring · 15/02/2026 07:14

I’ve also used the Nivea one shared above and liked that.

Cluckycluck · 15/02/2026 07:22

Shower oil - the sanctuary do a lovely one, L'Occitane is great if its in budget

The Inkey List glycolic acid stick to exfoliate is amazing. It's so quick to use and moisturising as well as it contains shea butter.

Cerave moisturising cream or intensive lotion

Frenchfrychic · 15/02/2026 07:28

What have you been doing, you need to moisturise daily,

i moisturise all over each morning before I get dressed, I use a scented one I like, rituals or Laura mercier, I also use bio oil on my arms stomach and upper chest.

i use Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream on my upper chest, that’s made an enormous difference, I can’t quite believe it, I’m mid 50s and my décolletage used to have that creased look, it’s now totally smooth and tight, I also use it on my feel, and no cracked skin, and then rub it up my shins, I do that every couple of days,

you don’t need much, and use the original, it stinks, but god that stuff is a game changer,

minnowonthesay · 15/02/2026 08:00

Yes, on dry skin, a few drops, I wear long pj’s so it doesn’t oil up the bed 😂 it definitely works because when I get in the shower in the morning the water forms globules on my skin. I do even use it on my face sometimes and wake up with really soft skin.

PrincessofWells · 15/02/2026 08:04

Clarins body serum or the yellow clarins tonic moisturiser- I get psoriasis so need to keep my skin moisturised and both have worked well.

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoByAgain · 15/02/2026 08:10

Superdrug Vit E cream. Massive tub for £6 and usually on offer. I had lizard legs and whacking this on every morning has cured them completely.

sickofsixseven · 15/02/2026 08:20

Cetaphil moisturising cream is great, especially for legs because it gets rid of the red shaving bumps.

Summerhillsquare · 15/02/2026 08:23

Neal's Yard aromatic body butter. Not cheap but a little goes a long way.

echt · 15/02/2026 08:29

50+ sunscreen, the kind that's really really hard to rub in and make the white disappear - arms, legs, neck and décolletage.

Heyhelga · 15/02/2026 08:31

I swear by the Simple range. Moisturiser, booster, shampoo, and conditioner.

badgersbadgerseverywhere · 15/02/2026 08:36

I find CeraVe SA Rough and Bumpy cream the most moisturising for the body. On my face I’ve recently started using rose hip oil and I really like the glow it gives me.

I'm not moisturising (body) often enough. I never have enough time in the morning. I think I need to chage my routine and make time for it in the evening.

What does the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream smell like?

Any particular brand of rose hip oil you would recommend?

I find 8 hour cream smells subtly herby and medicinal I love it. my children don’t

Edited

Never tried shower oil but just looked at some and they look lovely. Will definitely get one of those.

How often do you use the glycolic acid stick?

I really like the Dove Pro Age body lotion. I use it on my legs after every shower and find it rubs in easily.

SherbertsHerberts · 15/02/2026 10:56

I have bought a Korean cloth thing but haven't tried it yet. Has anyone used one?

Seconding Aveeno. It's the best I've found. I use this one

The Sanctuary Spa shower moisturiser is good-you put it on
when you’re still wet after a shower and it just sinks in quickly.
