Plouise - what fresh hell is this??

DD is 9 and came home from a party at the weekend talking about Plouise lip balms. I googled thinking I might get her some as her lips are very dry in winter but Confused they all say bad bitch on them? Shes 9! And judging by the pictures online of the Plouise Empire (ie the shop) she’s actually on the older end of their target demographic.

I feel very old.

She's recently started hosting events that are most akin to "The Willy Wonka Experience" by all accounts. There was one at the Trafford centre at Xmas and now this latest bday party debacle. She seems to have started very ethically btu descended into a cash grab.

The Trafford Pinkmas never happened! She sold all the advance tickets (£80 each 😲) in June, didn't apply for planning permission or anything until the council chased her in October, no chance of mounting the event - which the council said would've been unsafe for children.

It sounds more like stupidity than scamming, but loads of parents had booked transport and hotels for their pink-obsessed little girls and it's caused bad blood.

I'm not sure what to think about parents paying £38 a pop for tickets to a 12th birthday party which is obviously going to be a promotional event ...

It’s crap shite aimed at kids. Be more discerning kids!

TawnyVowel · 10/02/2026 03:08

The whole brand screams tramp.

It’s a pile of cheap shite.

SweetnsourNZ · 10/02/2026 06:27

Problem with a lot of these lip glosses aimed at young girls is they have no sun screen in them and there use is increasing the rate of lip melonomas similar to the baby oil craze in the past.

Xmasbaby11 · 10/02/2026 06:55

It's popular with my DD and friends - they are Y7. The packaging is very young I'd say, attractive to that age. I'm not sure if any of them own Plouise products as they are £££, but they certainly love the style.

RS1987 · 10/02/2026 06:58

There’s loads that don’t say bad bitch - just get one of those ones?

Definitely aimed at pre teen and teen girls i hate the brand its expensive and nothing special. Don't ever buy the surprise boxes they send the influencers on tiktok really good ones with loads in and everyone else there actual paying customers basically empty boxes with a couple of pieces of old stock.

P Louise used to be aimed at women and older teens. Didn’t know primary school girls knew about it!

troppibambini6 · 10/02/2026 07:52

I took dd and her to friends to the Plouise empire for her 13th birthday. I had to book 6 months in advance for the cafe. When we got there I realised I had got it very wrong they were far too old for it!
They were still ok but all said we are the oldest here by a lot. It’s absolutely bonkers.

My 12 year old niece was big into it and I got her some stuff for Xmas and she was delighted. My 10 year old dd is oblivious to it. I’ve just bought niece some more stuff for her birthday next week- am really hoping she isn’t too old now she’s about to be 13! I didn’t realise the target market was younger

my niece is 17 and I bought load of it for Xmas
her and her friends are really into it
ive got lots of the lipgloss and a few eye pallets

Loveapineapplepizzame · 10/02/2026 08:14

I hate PLouise. It’s the marketing at kids that’s just disgusting. DD is 12 and has literally tons of the stuff and we’ve got a trip to the bloody PLouise minion stronghold planned for next weekend. I’d rather remove my flaps with a rusty razor blade tbf.

Fends · 10/02/2026 08:30

What an absolute chav fest 🤣

soddingspiderseason · 10/02/2026 08:42

My daughter worked there in the cafe. Absolutely chock full of pre-teens buying make up called “Bad Bitch”, “Pop my Cherry”and “Water my Melons”. Bloody awful. She’s left thank goodness. Had to sign an NDA as well. Grrr.

Americasfavouritefightingfrenchman · 10/02/2026 08:53

I saw their advent calendar online and thought the packaging looked amazing but the contents were a tad naff and it was hugely expensive. My elder daughter is 11 and wholly uninterested. Youngest is 9 and always asking for skin/make up/beauty stuff. I bought a few beauty advent calendars this year as it is ages since I bothered with anything and swapped products around/supplemented with some bath bombs and made us an advent calendar each. Hers was based on the Sephora one in the tin. In the end she was a bit underwhelmed I think. I’d have one again though. There was some really nice stuff & I’m enjoying trying it out.

Kizzandra · 10/02/2026 09:03

Honestly, this has made me so mad! How can you have 11 year old influencers on social media when the minimum age for an account is bloody 13?! Makes a total mockery of any of the current rules and begs the question of how any changes to the minimum age could or would be policed! Appreciate this isn't the point of the post but really!

FiftyShadesOfPurple · 10/02/2026 09:14

Oh, dear. Whatever happened to hanging round in the local chemist in your school dinner hour trying on Rimmell lipsticks 😄

pinkswirl · 10/02/2026 09:14

My 12yo DD has never heard of it, but she doesn’t go on social media (and her friends can’t be into it either).

I looked at it when it was mentioned on the bargain threads as I thought it might make a good stocking filler, but quickly rejected the idea after seeing the same.

FiftyShadesOfPurple · 10/02/2026 09:23

Just googled Lacey and found a video of her - can't believe how young she is😱

Nosejobnelly · 10/02/2026 09:29

I thought this was a portmanteau for a new type of clothing like jeggings 😂 im
old (and don’t have tween/teens anymore).

Or Collection 2000!

Fiddlesticksand · 10/02/2026 10:51

I just went down the tiktok rabbit hole and found the Lacey account. I’m appalled.

MidWayThruJanuary · 10/02/2026 10:52

@Fiddlesticksand
It's child abuse imo.

Well, you’re not wrong. I saw some videos of mums taking their daughters to the “party”. Ummmm…

purplespink · 10/02/2026 11:01

My Dd wanted PLouise for Christmas. I got her a lipgloss/oil that says ‘stay shining’ on it, a hand cream and an eyeshadow thing for playing with. Doesn’t wear or take it out, doesn’t say any swear words on it. She’s nearly 9. Sometimes attaches the hand cream to her backpack.

Strawberrypicnic · 10/02/2026 12:24

Omg! I saw a clip of that little influencer's birthday party on tiktok, couldn't understand what was going on or why the comments were so positive. It was disturbing
