For me

The French tuck
Massive flares (though I love 'normal' flares
Carrot leg jeans
Massive spidery lashes

Light-hearted, of course, we all have different tastes, these are just some of my 'No's.

Trousers that are not long enough. The ones that flap around mid calf especially look awful.

Baguetteandcheese · 25/01/2026 12:16

I know it’s winter but cold shoulder tops look fucking awful. Always have, always will. They are never flattering.

I adore my wide leg jeans, they make my waist look tiny.

2026IsMyYear · 25/01/2026 12:38

I detest:

Floral midi-dresses with those awful boxy vejas, denim jackets & cross body bags. It was a total uniform here for years on end

These dreadful leggings that go up into the crack of the arse. I hate them & just don't understand how anyone willingly wants to wear them. Even on women witj fantastic bodies they look bad & sadly the majority of the wearers i see do not have the physique for them....

Those weird long puffa jackets to the ankles but sleevless - riduculous looking to me. And usually paired with leggings & white sports socks pullled up over them. How did this become a 'look'

I'm 5ft 9" size 12 / 14 & love wide legs, barrel, flares etc.

I love midi & mini length dresses. Not so keen on maxi or knee length as i think they rarely look good on anyone

I have 34" legs & definitely wore my share of skinny jeans & i'm very over them & have no desire to go back there

I'm sure i have more peeves...🤣

Baguetteandcheese · 25/01/2026 12:48

I’ll never go back to skinny jeans, gave them up a long time ago. And I’ll never go back to bootcut either. Which are quite often worn too short.

G5000 · 25/01/2026 13:37

butt scrunch leggings must die! I get you want everybody to admire your arse crack but it really isn't pleasant to accidentally see. And I promise I am really trying not to.

UpMyself · 25/01/2026 14:02

Jeans with wide legs - barrel, horseshoe etc
Oversized jackets
Cropped jackets, cropped coats, cropped jumpers, cropped trousers.
Recycled polyester
French tuck
Centre partings
Athleisure
Ballerina trainers
Adidas trainers
Midaxi - ridiculous term

Gettingbysomehow · 25/01/2026 15:19

Ive seen every colour of person in burgundy and they all look God awful in it. Its not a colour that suits humans.

tobee · 25/01/2026 15:28

CeeceeBloomingdale · 24/01/2026 17:16

Brown, everything has been sludge coloured for too long.

Yes and beige. It's not "oh so sophisticated" it's very boring and been hanging around for ages.

Ballerina shoes. They just look rubbish on me and I don't walk well in them. They went away for about 5 minutes. But now are back with a vengeance

JuliettaCaeser · 25/01/2026 15:30

I wish the teen girl uniform had more
colour. Black puffa coat baggy jeans or even worse grey tracksuit bottoms. We used to wear such colourful clothes my dds and their friends wear really drab colours. Oh and the straight hair thing.

2026IsMyYear · 25/01/2026 15:32

I'm back to add those ATROCIOUS flesh coloured leggings into my list 🤮🤮🤮

tobee · 25/01/2026 15:33

Love a band t shirt, but I'd feel crap in them outside the house?! Like advertising what you listen to so obviously seems a bit performative. It shouldn't matter mind you.

Yes I absolutely agree with this

OneMoreYearMyFriend · 25/01/2026 15:35

Dresses on the high street are woeful right now.

‘Midi’ dresses that are nearer to maxi, shapeless and in horrible cheap material - just fucking everywhere!

Bring back a variety of lengths - including genuine midi (just below knee) - and some bloody tailoring (I have a waist!).

And fuck off big stupid puffy sleeves that make even slim women look like wrestlers..

So sick of huge sack dresses and wrestler arms! Be gone!

tobee · 25/01/2026 15:36

Ooh men's hairstyles - the one with full head on top but shaved at the sides. Sort of Henry V style. Is it called the acorn?

Breadcat24 · 25/01/2026 15:36

barrel jeans
Puff sleeves
silly collars
high socks

Pantalone · 25/01/2026 15:38

CannotThinkOfAWittyNameChange · 24/01/2026 15:39

I’ll see you everything listed in the OP and I’ll raise you:

  • barrel-legged jeans / trousers
  • jogger bottoms worn with pointy leather shoes (look on the ASOS / Zara websites if you don’t believe me!)
  • smart blazers worn with above-mentioned jogger bottoms and extra minus points if they’re barrel-legged and/or worn with pointy leather flats

I love all of these 😂 Currently on the look out for a pair of actual bloomers to wear with a blazer.

Angela Scanlon had a lovely pair of bloomers on her instagram last year

Hiptothisjive · 25/01/2026 15:44

For me it would be onesies Lycra tyoe suits, cropped tops (all of them including jackets), navy and black together, too short anything, dry robes

Otherwise awful fake lashes, lip fillers especially overly don’t ones and people who look orange.

Edited

My Dd had 2 pairs of these i thought she is a grown woman she can wear what she wants blah blah, i couldn't stand it and eventually had to tell her how horrible she looked in them !

Coffeeishot · 25/01/2026 15:46

I want to add crop/short blouses and tops they make me look a square!

TheChosenTwo · 25/01/2026 15:52

I hate the look of the short trousers/jeans with what I describe as middle aged weekend dad trainers - hard to say exactly what they look like but I know when I see them 🤣
also want to get on board with barrel leg jeans but I have long legs and they do give me the appearance of ricketts sufferer. I think they look really good on shorter people.
I absolutely love burgundy but have done for years so thrilled to find so much of it about at the moment. I’ve got a deep skin tone and suits my warm complexion.
I also dislike the cropped everything and massive collars so many tops. I’m not averse to a collar, indeed I own a few, but I’m also looking for things with a straight regular collar.
The other thing I can’t get on board with and they’ve been around for a while is really clumpy flat shoes. Very stompy and aggressive looking and don’t seem to add anything to an outfit.

tobee · 25/01/2026 16:03

This thread is so interesting! I think burgundy looks great on many people - myself included

I also think knee length is far more flattering to most women than midi length, though I know knee length is out of fashion

UpMyself · 25/01/2026 16:20

Burgundy suits me, and above knee suits me better than below.

BorgQueen · 25/01/2026 16:23

Tops that aren’t a proper length, probably a cost issue rather than ‘style’ but it annoys the hell out of me that tshirts and tops are 2 inches shorter than they used to be.

Oh, and dresses where the belt loops are up under your boobs, they look ridiculous.
I’ve got a lovely black linen shirt dress that I’ve had to unpick the loops from, they are a good 3 inches too high for the wide belt it comes with. Belts are meant to go round your waist!
I ended up giving a lovely zara dress away due to the stupid placement of the sewn in belt, I couldn’t remove it without ruining the dress.
