For me

The French tuck
Massive flares (though I love 'normal' flares
Carrot leg jeans
Massive spidery lashes

Light-hearted, of course, we all have different tastes, these are just some of my 'No's.

I detest the french tuck. Looks as though the top has got caught up when going to the toilet. I shop mainly online. You can't see the proper length of tops or how they would sit when posed hoiked up.

And what is the point of models posed squatting down in anything? Shows absolutely nothing of the garments they are supposed to be modelling.

And breathe 🤣. Rant over!

JaquelineHide · 24/01/2026 18:19

'Boxy' and short tops. My body is short enough as it is, I don't need to look even more out of proportion. It's been hard to find normal length tops for so long.

Makemineacosmo · 24/01/2026 18:24

Also not a fan of the boxy tops, they just seem to cut me in two. Oh and frills and too many 'sparkles'. Nothing pisses me off more than picking up a nice shirt or something and it's got a sparkly pocket or collar.

High waists, because they are uncomfortable. And three quarter length sleeves, just because I don't like them 😂

Trainers with dresses and everything. I wear trainers for exercise. As it should be.
Worst look ever!!!!

Agree 100%

Gettingbysomehow · 24/01/2026 22:58

Peplums....hideous
Massive collars
Skinny jeans
Chunky shoes
Ankle flapping trousers
Flowery dresses especially when worn with trainers

Onefortheroad25 · 24/01/2026 23:05

Everything being cropped. Jackets, jumpers etc.

Can't decide if I agree with this or not.
Agree in that I do think trainers look bloody awful with anything apart from sport/very casual however I find them so comfortable i'm glad to be able to wear them with everything

Remainsamystery344 · 24/01/2026 23:30

oversized everything
cropped tops
flat Mary-Jane shoes

Bloozie · 24/01/2026 23:34

I love high waisted jeans, massive flares, baggy everything, trainers with everything, joggers as formalwear, and midi length dresses. This is my fashion moment. Everything is about being comfortable. 2025/6 will go down as the finest season, fashion-wise, for a me.

I really don’t like burgundy though.

Lifestooshort71 · 24/01/2026 16:35

My wide-legged jeans fit perfectly to under my bum and then flare. The backs finish a few cms above the floor and the fronts break in the right place. I never wear them if there's standing water but, apart from that, I love them.

Where did you get them?!

TheLeadbetterLife · 24/01/2026 23:40

I love burgundy, brown, midi length skirts, barrel legs, wide legs, dropped shoulders, oversize slouchy silhouettes, all of it. I dread fashion moving on from this era, I feel like I'm in a straightjacket in fitted clothes. Hopefully when fashion does move on, I'll be old enough to waft around in kaftans all day like late-stage Elizabeth Taylor or Joan Collins.

I got them from Monsoon

Holdinguphalfthesky · 25/01/2026 09:10

I feel like I have discovered a whole new world with high waisted, barrel/wide legged trousers and cropped or boxy tops and jumpers! Years of buying things long enough to hide my lack of a waist, and now I show the world my “waist” and because of the trousers I look normal and not like a brick!

also they are so comfortable and they are roomy enough that I can sit on the floor and not worry about my arse crack showing.

I do agree with the joggers plus smart shoes and blazers thing. I felt equally uneasy when people started wearing combat and cargo trousers made of satin and pairing them with stiletto heels, back in about 2003. It’s just not right!

Myrealnameisbetty · 25/01/2026 09:31

Reading this thread has alerted me to the expression "carrot leg jeans". 😁😁 which was a new one on me! Hilarious!

I've lost count of the times I've found what I thought a lovely new sweater and on unfolding or closer inspection find it's cropped and not even waist length. No thank you.

LamonicBibber1 · 25/01/2026 09:31

Burgundy is obviously wrong.

Crew necks make me feel like a primary school child or inmate of some facility

Polyester anything, destroying the world one ugly frilly plastic blouse at a time.

Brogues are truly upsetting to look at. And that bloody mum uniform that persists, a Breton top with jeans.

Love a band t shirt, but I'd feel crap in them outside the house?! Like advertising what you listen to so obviously seems a bit performative. It shouldn't matter mind you.

I do it myself too, but sometimes I feel sad looking at everyone in black/ athleisure/"boring" and safe outfits. Love a barrel leg, love an elasticated waist at this late stage 😂

I came to realise I have a complex relationship with joggers. I wear them, but they have to be so specific (cotton, cuffed or barrel, "smart" not sporty...). I hate the vast majority of them.

Bimmering · 25/01/2026 09:35

Ah I love burgundy!

And cropped/short tops because I have a very short torso and they look great on me (because they actually hit nicely at my waist)

Ginmonkeyagain · 25/01/2026 09:36

Those horrible synthetic chunky knit jumpers in refresher shades that everyone seems to be wearing at the moment.

As someone wide hips and muscled legs from years of martial arts and running, I am happy to dance on the grave of skinny jeans and their evil cousin - jeggings.

MissingSockDetective · 25/01/2026 09:37

There's a certain massive lips and long curled dry looking hair look that makes so many people look the same nowadays. I wish natural, different, unique faces were more fashionable, they are so much more interesting.

CrustyBread1977 · 25/01/2026 09:41

Tiered dresses. I saw the top half of a beautiful Phase Eight dress for a wedding I’m going to in the Spring. Scrolled down … tiered at the bottom - totally spoiled the look.

dudsville · 25/01/2026 09:54

For the most part I don't mind what others wear, but I was surprised to see young men wearing the very low slung trousers again, the version where their underwear is on full display. It looks awkward and uncomfortable. And young women wearing leggings as trousers, especially the newest versions.

It's funny how trends come and go. I can see how the current white sport sock worn uncrumpelled looks good, but with grunge such a force in my impressionable years I'll just struggle to do that.

Julio Jan Pierre takes the Mickey out of fashion model poses like the squatting pose that you hate - here’s a link to his Instagram, please enjoy! 😊 www.instagram.com/reel/DTx7buHEcyw/?igsh=MTV3d3pma2ZsNTdqcg==

BlueRidgeMountain · 25/01/2026 10:17

Crop tops, or any top that’s just too short. Can’t find a decent length top anywhere and I’m not even tall! I do not want to be exposing my midriff - literally nobody will thank me for that!

I've really enjoyed the oversize look too but I think I'm nearly ready for a change now, and I've been digging out some of my more fitted clothes (but not skinny jeans which, by rights, should spend at least 10 years in the wildnerness as far as I'm concerned - not that I think they will).

I don't agree that fitted has to mean uncomfortable either so that's where we part company!

Makemineacosmo · 25/01/2026 11:13

I feel like a lot of fashion now is so unstructured that it's so easy (for me anyway) to look a bit sloppy. I do see other women wafting around in oversized clothes that, I may not like the style much, they look great because they can carry it off. I definitely can't. 🤣

I don't think a more structured look has to be uncomfortable, I've never found that previously.
