My lips are a mess. They are dry and flaky constantly. The skins so thin that I am in a cycle of flake heal flake.

what are your absolute lip balm or mask holy grails. I have tried laneige mask. I regularly use nivea lip balms, bliskek, Vaseline.

nothing is helping.

Is it just dryness or could it be an allergy to existing skincare or lipstick? I was allergic to lipstick for years. If I wore it, my lips would just crack and the skin peeled off. After about 8 years of this, either the allergy went away or all lipsticks suddenly stopped containing whatever the irritant was. I used to find the Nuxe lip balm the most soothing though

Having some success with an overnight lip exfoliation serum from The Ordinary with a layer of anything over the top.

I got some Hyluronic acid lip balms from Temu that are great! I also really like the o’keeffe’s overnight lip balm.

are you drinking plenty? I always get really sore lips if I’m dehydrated.

Forever Aloe lip balm. I always go back to it - latest lot from eBay.

TheDandyLion · 16/01/2026 19:22

Lanisoh nipple cream overnight. Bert's Bees during the day when out and about.

Done2much · 16/01/2026 19:24

Burts Bees is my favourite

never thought of nipple cream overnight, thankyou @TheDandyLion

UpMyself · 16/01/2026 19:29

nivea lip balms the original one is ok, the others are drying.
Vaseline - only keeps moisture in, it doesn't moisturise.
Blistex is good.Blistex Relief Cream - 5g - Boots

Celestialmoods · 16/01/2026 19:31

Lanolips. Any lanolin based lip balm will do the job.

ChopstickNovice · 16/01/2026 19:32

Lanolips!

AnotherDayanotherNameChangeX · 16/01/2026 19:37

lanolips for during the day, laneige sleep mask for overnight 🙌

Prawnalicious · 16/01/2026 19:38

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. Bit ££ but lasts for ages

HopefulYankee · 16/01/2026 19:49

Lanolips is great but my favourite is Byoma lip mask. I put it on my lips at night before bed and when I wake up my lips are really plump and smooth. And it doesn’t sting like Too Faced lip injection. 🙂

Charlotte Tilbury Life Changing Lip Mask is really good. I mean, it hasn’t changed my life in any significant ways as promised but I’m running out and would definitely buy it again.

PeonyBulb · 16/01/2026 20:15

well when my lips cracked badly one winter I happened to have By Terry rose lip balm from an advent calendar handy which worked miracles and sorted them out by the morning. It’s bloody expensive though

PermanentTemporary · 16/01/2026 20:28

Neutrogena.

Squirrelsnut · 16/01/2026 20:29

Are you dehydrated? As long as I drink plenty of water my lips are fine. It's not all external factors.

TheFatCatSatOnTheMat · 16/01/2026 20:32

You want the Nuxe Reve de miel lip balm in a pot. I have tried everything recommended and this is the best.

My lips were cracked and bleeding one winter and I was in so much pain, posted on Mumsnet and bought pretty much everything that was recommended. This was the winner and I am never without it now.

Nuxe Reve is the absolute best but only the pot, not the stick.

CraftyNavySeal · 16/01/2026 20:33

99% of lipbalms are crap because they have irritants in them so make your lips sore and trap you in a cycle. You could be allergic to the lipbalm ingredients which is why this happens.

Bepanthen is cheap and lanolin based, Cerave healing ointment is also good.

StickyFiggyPudding · 16/01/2026 20:37

O’Keeffe’s Lip Repair is the only lip balm that works for me.

UpMyself · 16/01/2026 20:37

Emas82 · 16/01/2026 20:38

Palmers cocoa butter lip balm, best I've found without spending too much.

Kingfisherfan65 · 16/01/2026 20:41

I have terrible problems with my lips. I get cheilitis along the bottom, and they swell up making me look like I've had fillers. The best balms I've found are Akamuti Honey & Chamomile Lip Balm and Burts Bees Lavender and Honey.

Buscobel · 16/01/2026 20:42

I got my daughter Honey Balm at Christmas. It looks very nourishing.

mamaduckbone · 16/01/2026 20:45

Carmex every time - the trad one in the yellow metal tin.. Burts bees is also nice.

UpMyself · 16/01/2026 20:51

I like the Carmex in the round pot (but it does contain irritants) but prefer a Blistex one. I also like ChapStick.
