Warm, grippy, comfortable boots

I’m after some boots matching the description above that are a little more stylish than walking boots.

I know there will be lots of recommendations for dr martens but I have wide, weird feet and I’m too worried about them needing to be worn in but still being uncomfortable and it being an expensive waste!

Thank you in advance!

Watching with interest

I have Sorel boots which are so warm and more comfortable than slippers - but not grippy at all! So annoying

Twoshoesnewshoes · 06/01/2026 22:00

I bought These in an emergency (icy pavement, skater trainers) from Shoezone - they’re actually great! Much comfier than my Clarks ones and the sole is chunky and grippy.

I’ve got Ryedale muck boots about £30 quid but keep me upright when it’s slippy

Pistachiocake · 06/01/2026 22:19

fitflop, the short wellies are comfy

I love my Sorel walking boots, they’re sooooo comfortable. I’ll find a link.

these aren’t exactly mine as I have a corduroy ankle bit, but same sole.

ResusciAnnie · 08/01/2026 14:04

hmm link maybe broken but here’s a pic too.

Legero gore-tex boots come in lots of different variations. I have wide feet and their leather boots with a side zip are a good fit.

jimmypug · 08/01/2026 14:48

My new goretex adidas hiking trainer boots came today and they are brilliant. Really light and still grippy

jimmypug · 08/01/2026 14:52

They do bright and colourful ones as well as plain blacks etc

I own a lovely pair of Wauldlaufer boots. They do wide fit and a removable insole and also come in half sizes. Highly recommend this company to buy them from.

Sole Bliss. Their fur lined boots are like wearing slippers, toasty warm and have retractable grippy things hidden in the sole. Cost about £250 but one of my best ever purchases. In fact I’ve just bought their lace up biker boots because they’re just so comfortable on a wide be-bunioned foot.

defnotadomesticgoddess · 08/01/2026 16:19

i got some ecco leather ones last year. The tread is really good for non slip and they look ok

FruitWordSalad · 08/01/2026 16:23

I've got Mammal boots. They're very warm and I love the flick out grippers in the sole.

Seasaltchips · 08/01/2026 16:54

@ResusciAnnie are the soles grippy on ice or mud though? I have an earlier version of the Sorel boots. They are so warm and comfy but no grip at all!

SqishySqashmas · 08/01/2026 17:05

These might be a bit too 'walking booty' but are very good, super comfy, you do need to size down though. I have the black ones, DD has the brown version - both are lovely!

ClearFruit · 08/01/2026 17:11

Ariat are fantastic.

FruitWordSalad · 08/01/2026 17:28

If people are after grip, either the Mammals with the flick out spikes, or there's always Kahtoola or Yaktrax. I prefer Kahtoola - their nanospikes are great.

NutellasKitchen · 08/01/2026 17:34

I've been searching for the same sort of thing OP. Currently I like the look of Kamik Atwater on alpinetrek.co.uk. Actually I like pretty much everything on there. Maybe you will too.
