Removing pubic hair

bluedabadeedabadoo · 05/01/2026 11:52

Good morning all. How is everyone removing pubic hair nowadays (all of it).
I usually use removal cream but I’m overly sensitive and have come out in lots of red spots.
Shaving brings me out in red spots.
I don’t fancy waxing. Are there any other options out there?
Perhaps the electric shavers? What are they like, do they offer a close shave?
Home laser treatment- how does this work with public hair?

Why not just leave it alone? Save time, money, angst and risk of infection.

Yes.
Why on earth does anyone want to remove it all? So much risk of infection plus the cost and effort.
Also means you end up with a fanny like a child.
It’s all bloody porn driven.
Leave your poor pubes alone.

Agree proper grade laser. Haven't had a pube for about 10 years.

Anyone been on to call her husband a paedo yet 🙄

Yep, two posts below
yours 🤷🏼‍♀️ .

The main event as you put it, has no hair!

The base has hair a lot of the time. I like to have it all in my mouth so it’s nice not having a face full of bush 😂

Whilst I would agree wholeheartedly with a woman's right to chose what they shave or don't shave, it is naive to assume that your choices do not come from societal expectations. I have 2 daughters, now young adults, but they were adamant they wanted to shave everything off from pretty much as soon as they started to grow pubic hair. I rarely shave anything off,leg hairs maybe for a summer wedding, but I could not persuade them to just relax about it. The pressure is definitely out there and the more normalised it is too remove all body hair, the more pressure teenage girls are put under to confirm.

I disagree. I actually think it’s quite the opposite. Normalisation is good. It is normal, full bush is normal, choice is normal. Modern communications and pop culture have shown women they do not need to conform to historic and outdated ideas of what is ‘modest and ladylike’. We do not need to fear being labelled as brazen hussies just because we as individuals prefer to shave or wax or laser any body hair we choose. Thank god women feel liberated to make decisions over their own bodies. I have never felt pressured or that there was an expectation to be hair free. I have had partners proffer preferences for a full bush. But it’s literally not about anyone else. I prefer to remove my pubic hair, as I do with leg and underarm hair. For me.
I do not understand why this is so difficult for some people to grasp.
I also prefer partners, male or female, to be well groomed in that area. Sex is more enjoyable. Even masturbation is more enjoyable.
Just accept that people have different preferences.

Laser treatment, everything off, feels very clean and fresh, I’d never go back to having pubic hair…er well I couldn’t if I wanted to!

Perhaps a side of boiled potato’s 😂😂

BUTTERY boiled potatoes. They were definitely buttery...

Question for those recommending Bush Balm. Are you talking about the various trimmers or the aftercare products please and thank you?

Except nowadays it's more of a statement to have a mahoosive bush. One might assume it's some hairy fetish.

The natural condition of our body can hardly be a fetish.

Having hair ( aka as body is intended to be) is not unclean or unfresh). You will still produce secretions and sweat without hair.

A question for those who are so against hair removal - what do you about holidays? Do you wear a bikini/costume with pubes on full display? Genuine question!

I think most people who are against hair removal just trim the edges if going in a swimsuit.

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 06/01/2026 07:32

Glitchymn1 · 05/01/2026 20:39

I don’t get a rash or spots/ ingrown hairs- not yet anyway. I mostly shave, I’ve used an epilator on my legs before and as op didn’t want to shave I thought maybe run the epilator over the pubic area 🙈maybe this is a bad idea as I’ve had a few 😱faces. Maybe ignore my advice op!

@ISpyNoPlumPie I find pubic hair gets really long and then it gets itchy, that’s why I whip it off. I find trimming it more annoying than just running the razor over.

I have used the epilator on my legs and my armpits and was quite happy with the results.

I have hardly any armpit hair left due to starting to epilate as a young teen… you needed (at least back then, and I don’t think the mechanism has changed drastically) to hold your arms up / make sure that there were no creases of skin in your armpit. I once forgot and got bits of my skin abraded 😱 which I only realised afterwards because the pain wasn’t considerably worse…😅

an other reason why I’d be hesitant to use the epilator on those super sensitive bits!

my partner has used the epilator to remove all his pubic hair. So there’s that 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I personally would recommend careful shaving followed by at home IPL. The decrease in hair and hair strength means that I get much less ingrowns. Even though I’m very inconsistent with it… I might just decide to get it lasered off, tbh.

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 06/01/2026 07:35

Honestly why does it matter what another adult does to their body? She didn't come on here asking should she shave or leave it alone, she asked for ways to remove it.

You may be happy with doing nothing to it but the OP doesn't want to leave it. It doesn't make her look like a child, or a porn star, doesn't make her husband a paedo. She's not being forced to do it, she wants to do it.

I'm very much single and still do my bikini line, and shave my legs and armpits, wax my arms, chin and upper lip. I do it because I prefer it (and don't want to look like the bearded lady from the Greatest Showman).

SoftBalletShoes · 06/01/2026 07:36

I don’t like having pubic hair, but I wouldn’t have it lasered off bc skin gets a lot more delicate as we age, and I might be grateful for a bit of a cushion against friction one day. I’m single so I don’t have to think about what anyone else likes. I do what feels best to me, which is to keep it trim.

ETA: On the rare occasion I see my FWB I like to take it all off, but it’s really hard to do myself, and I’m not paying for a wax as it’s $120 where I live.

Someone has posted on here they lost their public hair to chemotherapy, it’s bloody gross that people keep suggesting if someone doesn’t have pubic hair they have genetics like a child 🤢

I had laser, I’d thoroughly recommend it. I wish I’d done it when I was younger as there’s a few greys which obviously were unaffected by the laser.
I shave every week or two to get rid of them but there’s no rough stubble, bumps or spots now as it’s only a few hairs. Nice and smooth, and comfy.
I had 13 sessions though the last two were just top ups. It cost about £350.

Same as this. I’m in the middle of a course of 8 sessions. Complete Hollywood and underarms, slightly uncomfortable but over quick and super excited for the end result. Although in the same boat with the greys unfortunately, left it about 10 years too late I think.

The day men are willing to cover their ball sacks in hot wax and rip their pubes out for us, that's when I'll think about it.

I would also be really uncomfortable with someone who wanted me to look like an 8 year old down there!

I find this utterly disturbing. Comparing a child to a fully grown adult? The fact that you cant seem to fathom an adult female vulva with fully developed clitoris, labia and other developmental differences is uncomfortable. Equating hair removal to an 8 year old child anatomically incorrect and misguided, rooted from projection and misinformation.

do better.

Thanks. Yes I could leave it alone but I feel more comfortable during sex to not have any.

Is it you that feels more comfortable without it? Or your partner?

If it’s you, why do you feel more comfortable without it? It’s natural, it’s meant to be there and actually performs a function. What has convinced you it’s ‘better’ to look pre-pubescent?

Can people stop with the pre-pubescent and child like comments. It's bloody weird and slightly disturbing.

You can make your point without resorting to the same old trope. I think at nearly 50 with breasts I no longer look like a child whether I have pubic hair or not. I'm not Benjamin Button, I'm not going to age backwards (mores the pity).

I agree. It’s incredibly tedious. The absence of pubic hair does not make an adult woman look like a child in any way, shape or form. It is not possible for an adult woman to look like a child.

I don’t have a partner as such but am in the early stages of dating. I’ve no idea what he thinks but for me I just feel more confident and happier in myself to have it removed. It’s absolutely discusting to suggest that just because I have no pubic hair I look pre-pubescent. 🤢 I can assure you that in now way at all does my naked body look pre-pubescent but because I don’t have pubic hair 🤦🏻‍♀️ I don’t imagine a pre-pubes ent child has fully developed breasts and genitalia so how you can compare is absolutely beyond me and is just discusting.

Over the years l’ve gone from shaving to Veet to waxing. I’m now settled in to a Hollywood wax every 4 weeks. The first time is the worst mybody seems to have adjusted to it over time, it has become just part of my routine. Uch nicer than the dentist. I’ve kept the same beautician for a long time. If you find someone who does a good job stick with her.
