Removing pubic hair

bluedabadeedabadoo · 05/01/2026 11:52

Good morning all. How is everyone removing pubic hair nowadays (all of it).
I usually use removal cream but I’m overly sensitive and have come out in lots of red spots.
Shaving brings me out in red spots.
I don’t fancy waxing. Are there any other options out there?
Perhaps the electric shavers? What are they like, do they offer a close shave?
Home laser treatment- how does this work with public hair?

I had laser done on my full bikini line and underarms 12 years ago. Best decision I ever made.

I agree. It’s incredibly tedious. The absence of pubic hair does not make an adult woman look like a child in any way, shape or form. It is not possible for an adult woman to look like a child.

Totally agree.. a womans genitals will never look like a childs.
Sex feels so much more sensitive without hair for me. I’m also less smelly without it as hair traps sweat same as armpit hair.

imisscashmere · 05/01/2026 20:03

Of course you’re not imagining it. Pubic hair traps sweat, oil, pheromones. It gets coated in urine and menstrual blood. And more. It smells - it is MEANT to, from an evolutionary perspective. However nowadays most of us would agree it smells gross!

Before the 80s there were flannels to wash yourself clean, these days baby wipes or bidets or a shower toilet attachment as they have in nearly all toilets Finland, or even go the whole hog and have a Japanese washlet.

Wait, what??

I’m in peri… am I to wake up one morning all porn-star like? 😂

Yes, yes you will. Although as a pp noted, it reappears on your chin, so all is well 😂

Sweetiedarling7 · 05/01/2026 23:22

Yes.
Why on earth does anyone want to remove it all? So much risk of infection plus the cost and effort.
Also means you end up with a fanny like a child.
It’s all bloody porn driven.
Leave your poor pubes alone.

As someone who has been “all off” since around 15/16, now in my 40s and due for my next Hollywood wax on Thursday. I’m a 36F up top and certainly don’t look like a child naked. Neither does my genitalia look like that of a child.

  1. Do you remove your underarm or leg hair? Does that you look like a child?
  2. Do you have a male partner who shaves their face? Does that make him look like a child.
  3. For those who say that pubic hair has a purpose, the body was not designed it evolved. It is likely that any purpose was to retain “scent” (that’s smell).

I’ve even been asked by some men to grow a bush; sorry that one is not negotiable.

Overall, being all off is less sweaty in warm weather, makes heavy periods easier to manage and looking at myself in the mirror, l prefer it thay way.

Do you leave your under arm hair alone? Or the hair on your legs? Or your poor defenceless eyebrows? Or even if you don't remove hair from those areas, are you as judgemental about those who do as you obviously are about people who make that choice for their pubic region?

Here we go again 🙄

Bet you never expected your post about hair removal in style and beauty to have gotten nearly 350 comments and still going strong 😂

I have used the epilator on my legs and my armpits and was quite happy with the results.

I have hardly any armpit hair left due to starting to epilate as a young teen… you needed (at least back then, and I don’t think the mechanism has changed drastically) to hold your arms up / make sure that there were no creases of skin in your armpit. I once forgot and got bits of my skin abraded 😱 which I only realised afterwards because the pain wasn’t considerably worse…😅

an other reason why I’d be hesitant to use the epilator on those super sensitive bits!

my partner has used the epilator to remove all his pubic hair. So there’s that 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I personally would recommend careful shaving followed by at home IPL. The decrease in hair and hair strength means that I get much less ingrowns. Even though I’m very inconsistent with it… I might just decide to get it lasered off, tbh.

Oh My God!

That must have been logistically quite hard - did you help him? Was it a punishment for something awful?? Given the skin around the balls is quite loose presumably he had to hold it tight, hold his bits out the way and also drive the epilator... my mind is blown.

Absolutely not. It if was in AIBU I could understand it!! I also never imagined that I would be alikened to pre-pubescent child or that judgements would be made about my non existent husband/ partner 😂

Ah yes, I have to say I'm not surprised, because I've seen threads like this before. Hair removal according to MN -

Remove hair from your legs / armpits / eyebrows - no problem
Remove hair from your vulva - you're an anti-feminist sell out and puppet of the matriarchy (and your partner is a pedophile).

It’s absurd isn’t it! There was a similar thread a while back and I was told my partner was a paedophile and I must be like a blow up sex doll 🤣
It really interests me how so many women are so against other women who like to keep things bare, and make such horrid comments, but the bare ladies couldn’t care less about the bush brigade!

This! I’ve yet to see a post telling anyone who chooses to sport hair that they should remove it.

millionlovesongs · 06/01/2026 10:24

i have a bare fanjo but as soon as you see my fat thighs, c section scars and belly overhang I think someone might realise I’m 55 not 8 🙄

Have you not? Read more threads!

Some of the posters who remove their hair do post passive aggressive comments about it being 'cleaner' and less smell etc which implies being natural is dirty.

BlackCat14 · 06/01/2026 10:29

Agree @millionlovesongs ! My fanny is bare but my double D boobs, tattoos, hips and c section scar make me look every inch a woman! Also my boyfriend is bare down there and his hairy chest and tattoos prevent me from ever thinking he looks like a child!

Don't understand why everyone is calling it a vulva.
It's your mon pubis (the fat pad below your tummy) and some women do go as far as the vulva!.

But that is usually in defence of being called names. And with heavy periods it works out better for me. But l’ve never suggested anyone else should do it.

I think people are just saying that they they feel it’s cleaner. I feel cleaner but I don’t necessarily mean that that it is technically cleaner.

Agree. Hence the term “clean shaven” usually used about men. But why do people get so concerned about the contents of someone else’s knickers? The OP posted a simple and reasonable.

Thanks. Yes I could leave it alone but I feel more comfortable during sex to not have any.

Why on earth is it uncomfortable to have sex with public hair?! Never heard that before.

Not physically uncomfortable as in painful, I just feel more comfortable in myself. You may have not heard this before but that doesn’t make how I feel any less valid 🤦🏻‍♀️

most men do prefer clean shaven vaginas. And from a practical standpoint I have to concede it makes sense …as one male friend of mine put it to me once - “would you want to suck a hairy penis?” and I had to admit that I wouldn’t.

I do remember once when a partner went down on my and I had pubic hair, he had to take a hair out of his mouth and although he didn’t say anything, this did make me feel uncomfortable and has probably informed how I feel about it now.

How do you know this? Have you asked every man?
P.s. its not your vagina youre shaving

Some men do, but not all in my experience.

I have almost always had trimmed pubic hair as an adult. I swim regularly and trim it for that reason mainly but I think the trimmed triangle looks better than either the fuller bush or less / no hair on me. Each to their own though. I see plenty in the changing rooms and have never made a judgement whether there is no hair or lots of hair.

I have two sisters and I know having been swimming with them that one has none and one has lots! I don't care!

My sexual partners have rarely commented hit when they have it has been favourable. I think it looks sexy. Certainly nobody has ever asked me to change my look.

I have shaved completely a couple of times, as a surprise for sexual partners. On both occasions I had sex immediately afterwards and it felt no different at all.

I disagree with those who say that having no pubes makes me look like a child. My vulva is different to a child's even with no pubic hair. And obviously I have breasts!

I would miss my pubic hair were it not there. I quite like playing with it from time to time!

But as with all things, each to their own.
