Removing pubic hair

bluedabadeedabadoo · 05/01/2026 11:52

Good morning all. How is everyone removing pubic hair nowadays (all of it).
I usually use removal cream but I’m overly sensitive and have come out in lots of red spots.
Shaving brings me out in red spots.
I don’t fancy waxing. Are there any other options out there?
Perhaps the electric shavers? What are they like, do they offer a close shave?
Home laser treatment- how does this work with public hair?

The day men are willing to cover their ball sacks in hot wax and rip their pubes out for us, that's when I'll think about it.

I would also be really uncomfortable with someone who wanted me to look like an 8 year old down there!

👏👏

Epilator? It’s just cleaner and smoother.

I got the worst ingrown hairs ever when I tried using the epilator. It’s also more painful on my personal opinion than waxing…

esit: my fiance has used the epilator quite a few times and apparently doesn’t have the same issues I do 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

So this is going to sound really weird but when I was 18 my friend told me her way of doing it & I’ve done it ever since. It can take a while the first time but is so worth it. Tweezers, only on the mons area. Then shave everything else. The hair grows back sparsely & you can just keep on top of it easily.

It's so cold, I'm growing all the hair I can for warmth.

Currently considering knitting leg/pube/eyebrow together for a human duvet.

Essentially what your doing is the same as waxing but slower removal, tweezing and waxing both pull the hair out at the same time root. I’ve done it before when I couldn’t get a wax booked it, just as effective

Newsenmum · 05/01/2026 20:22

It’s the same as leg and underarm hair. You could argue it’s all ‘weird’. I always think to leave mine but I dont like how it looks, feels
or smells (always looks all bunched up the end 🤢).

Which creams are best?

I’ve tried it all over the years and always come back to waxing.

The first one hurts….but after that? Really not that bad at all. The hair grows back much slower and more sparsely than with other methods. I had my very first one done at a salon, but then I can keep on top of it every 4-6 weeks at home.

You’ll be glad to know your body hair stops growing as you age. At 50 I now only have to shave my arm pits and legs once a week and (although it hasn’t yet) apparently your pubes fall out altogether, so time is your friend here -just wait it out.

No I shave lol, but I’ve heard epilators are good.

I don’t look like an 8 year old and I’m married but I do it for myself- I’m just not a fan of the bush, I shave my legs and armpits too. DH gives his bits a trim / shave too. 😆

Once when I was 7 I covered myself in my dad’s shaving gel and shaved my whole body. 🤣 Think I used the whole can, he was not impressed.

Edited

I wax but no way I could epilate my pubic region!

I don’t get a rash or spots/ ingrown hairs- not yet anyway. I mostly shave, I’ve used an epilator on my legs before and as op didn’t want to shave I thought maybe run the epilator over the pubic area 🙈maybe this is a bad idea as I’ve had a few 😱faces. Maybe ignore my advice op!

@ISpyNoPlumPie I find pubic hair gets really long and then it gets itchy, that’s why I whip it off. I find trimming it more annoying than just running the razor over.

Wtf????!!!!!! Most men fully shave their pubes? What a world!

Most men I’ve been with, I can’t speak for most men. Age range from 25 to 45. I love that men are doing their bit now, also looking after themselves more appearance wise. Blowjobs are so much better without hair getting in my mouth so oral on a woman must be too. It feels more sensitive for me being shaved too.
I think men know if they want a woman to go down there then they need to make it appealing.

Totally agree, albeit my experience is an older demographic. And I for one am glad. Nobody wants to fight their was through a jungle to reach the main event!

My mum told me the same thing recently…..she now only gets her legs waxed once a year!!

Agree . I’m 54 and shave my legs once a week but could get away with less. Armpit hair only in the summer really and it’s down to a strip. Pubic hair is still going strong but am depressed by the greys popping up- that is more likely to make me remove it all! 😂

I’m in my early 30’s and had a complete crisis a couple of years ago when my grey skunk stripe started appearing at the front of my head 😂 God knows how I’ll react when I notice my first grey pube 😂

Honestly it’s the worst feeling. I don’t feel ‘old’ at all and it’s like Mother Nature telling you you’re past it. I pluck it if I see a grey but have wondered about pube dye! Just for mon? 😂

I guess I can’t really comment on anyone other than myself; there is hair on my labia majora but it’s not an extreme effort to remove it.

It must be a case of very different hair distribution patterns + a variety of body shapes which results in some women thinking "It really isn't a massive issue" and others wondering how on EARTH would it even be possible to wax such a complicated area.

Haha - yeah 😂
I would say though - i doubt you’ve got anything going on down there that is unlike anything they’ve seen before. I’m sure they have methods for all body shapes and hair patterns (if you were interested, which obviously you may not be!)

Why don’t we think it’s just your personal choice?

Because it’s a strange choice to make ? It’s unhealthy and painful and yet you still want to persist ?

if you were self harming it would be seen as a bad thing. Why is this not self harming? What makes this ok?

Women shaving their minge is self harming?

I've heard it all now.

Just when I thought I'd seen it all on here.

Nomplemome · 05/01/2026 21:44

HopSpringsEternal · 05/01/2026 15:32

Its true! But if it happened to be the first thing they encountered on a nudist beach it would be a surprise!

I genuinely don't care what people do with their body hair but do find it a culturally interesting phenomenon. When I lived in cuba in the nineties women used to shave their thigh hair in a straight line so the bit below the mid thigh was still hairy. It was considered very sexy in Hispanic women alongside a big arse and hips. My natutally hairless thighs and skinny bum.was of no interest to anyone.
In the UK, we were all expected to be skinny as fuck with huge tits and a neat but present pube area.

Fascinating… how do you know?? Anyone have more examples?!

Gemz1010g · 05/01/2026 21:54

I shave it all off in my everything shower, I can't stand having hair down there but it's all for myself.

Obeseandashamed · 05/01/2026 22:07

Waxing or laser but I’m finding laser a pain as the shaving in between is irritating and can be a long process if you’ve got coarse or dark hair. I miss waxing! Nothing beats it though I’m hoping longer term, laser will be worth it!

Shhhhitsmagic · 05/01/2026 23:08

A question for those who are so against hair removal - what do you about holidays? Do you wear a bikini/costume with pubes on full display? Genuine question!

vdbfamily · 05/01/2026 23:15

Whilst I would agree wholeheartedly with a woman's right to chose what they shave or don't shave, it is naive to assume that your choices do not come from societal expectations. I have 2 daughters, now young adults, but they were adamant they wanted to shave everything off from pretty much as soon as they started to grow pubic hair. I rarely shave anything off,leg hairs maybe for a summer wedding, but I could not persuade them to just relax about it. The pressure is definitely out there and the more normalised it is too remove all body hair, the more pressure teenage girls are put under to confirm.
