Removing pubic hair

bluedabadeedabadoo · 05/01/2026 11:52

Good morning all. How is everyone removing pubic hair nowadays (all of it).
I usually use removal cream but I’m overly sensitive and have come out in lots of red spots.
Shaving brings me out in red spots.
I don’t fancy waxing. Are there any other options out there?
Perhaps the electric shavers? What are they like, do they offer a close shave?
Home laser treatment- how does this work with public hair?

Yeah right OP gonna talk to you about my pubic hair and sex life {you’re a weirdo}

How can you compare legs or a man’s face to genitals? Completely different 🙄 but if you want to have sex with the genitalia of a prepubescent child then you do you 👍

When you see some full bearded men eat I do wonder what is lurking in there.

I'm just mystified how waxing the 'undercarriage' works for an 'all off' situation, specifically the labia majora. Aren't they too delicate and 'foldy'? I know everyone has very different hair distribution and vulval shapes, but those who go 'all off' are you lucky to not have much labial hair or folds?

They just push your labia to the other side and wax the hairy bit. It’s actually not very painful down there IMO because the hair is more sparse and also seem thinner.

2026x · 05/01/2026 18:18

I prefer sex without pubic hair; the genital to genital contact before full penetration feels better. I also acknowledge that beauty standards inform loads of choices we make about our body. We pluck our eyebrows, dye our hair stick pieces of metal through our ears. I personally don’t find waxing massively painful (threading my eyebrows is far more painful imo) but I assume I wouldn’t get attacked for threading my eyebrows or waxing my legs?

Cyclebabble · 05/01/2026 18:19

I keep it neat, tidy and short, but gone are the days when I wax and get rid of pubic hair entirely. Much more comfortable having short well controlled pubes than none.

Why does it matter if they're a weirdo (although I don't think OP is)

You'll never know if they are or not so why care 🤷‍♀️

Get laser.
But don’t waste your money on IPL (which is what a lot of people who say it doesn’t work get). You want a proper medical grade laser hair removal, professionally done. It’s not cheap, but then nor is waxing - you will make your money back over time.
You will need to get someone good though, who has a laser suitable for your specific hair and skin pigment.

Came here to say this.

I have similar preferences to you OP and professional laser treatment was wonderful. If you find yourself in a position to invest in this I would highly recommend it.

I am of a darker skin tone with curly hair and it worked amazingly (9 years and counting with VERY little upkeep necessary- I might run a razor over about 4 random hairs monthly, and they are so fine it leaves no irritation!) Same for my pits!

I had tried a home laser treatment previously, the Tria Hair Removal Laser, and it was absolutely useless and extremely painful.

FrootyCider · 05/01/2026 18:56

I am at in awe of anyone who can be bothered maintaining a smooth fanjo, but it's not for me. You could braid mine. It's a glorious, soft tuft. I hate the implication that hair is 'unhygenic' - that's not true. Equally I wouldn't want anyone who chooses to remove to feel bad about it. It's all fine. When I did briefly shave I couldn't stand the itch.

Cherrytree86 · 05/01/2026 18:58

Branleuse · 05/01/2026 17:56

It's not that strange tbh. It's quite normal for people to cut hair, trim bits, shave areas, pierce bits, get tattooed, change all sorts of things about their appearance.

It definitely doesn't look like I'm 8 years old when I shave my chuff. I've got hips and tits and loads of tattoos, which help me remember that I'm not 8 if I get confused.

Yasssss! This post sums it up perfectly

COMMON SENSE

who can argue with this??

Im not saying it isn't true, im saying 100 years isnt a solid non-fucked up benchmark of women in society.

I was agreeing with you! I was just musing.

Butwhat if there is hair on the actual labia majora? I can't see how 'all off' would be possible, or even worth the extreme effort.

As a PP said, proper laser not IPL.

Look for a salon that has a Soprano Ice machine.

If that’s too expensive, then the Philips Lumea at home IPL device has served me well on my legs but best money I ever spent was getting armpits and my bikini line done professionally. I have three very fine hairs under each armpit that I forget about!

The day men are willing to cover their ball sacks in hot wax and rip their pubes out for us, that's when I'll think about it.

I would also be really uncomfortable with someone who wanted me to look like an 8 year old down there!

This comment is gross. Not everyone removes public hair for a man either

Ginagogo · 05/01/2026 19:35

HisNotHes · 05/01/2026 14:46

Again, why?

You seem overly obsessed with what someone else does with their public hair

It's so cold, I'm growing all the hair I can for warmth.

😂

JustMyView13 · 05/01/2026 16:03

Firm agree.
Never once have I heard a bald headed man be compared to a baby, despite the almost identical haircuts.

😂😂😂😂

I guess I can’t really comment on anyone other than myself; there is hair on my labia majora but it’s not an extreme effort to remove it.

FlyingApple · 05/01/2026 19:46

I don't and neither does my husband. I will when he does 😂

autumn1610 · 05/01/2026 19:59

Why can’t a grown woman do whatever the hell she wants with her bloody public hair without being told we are doing it for men, because of porn etc. I’m single and A man has not been near me for over a year and I still hot wax every 6 weeks because I want to, because I get extremely irritated by my pubic hair if I don’t. I’m not rashy and bumpy or whatever else is thrown out there. And I don’t look like a pre pubescent child I have an adult vulva and that’s what it looks like!

anyway @bluedabadeedabadoo I would recommend going to a hot wax intimate specialist game changing doesn’t particularly hurt (obvs not pain free)

You may want to see a doctor if you look like an eight year old down there!

I agree with you a full bush makes me smell unless im imagining it.

Plus growing up i wasn't allowed to shave or trim any hair.
And when on a period dryed on blood I just can't.
Everyone to their own.
Im single no one tells me to do it I do it for me.
I dont live in the 1900s.

Of course you’re not imagining it. Pubic hair traps sweat, oil, pheromones. It gets coated in urine and menstrual blood. And more. It smells - it is MEANT to, from an evolutionary perspective. However nowadays most of us would agree it smells gross!

"paedo" - check
Just need "internalised misogyny" and "The Patriarchy" for a full house :)

I get this argument, and OP has a choice and a right to advice.

However...lets not pretend that it is a healthy or natural way to be. Porn has driven this and im so glad i was a young woman in the 80's when men were just glad to get some action?
Mind you have been single a long while, so if this is the expectation now I think i may be too much for a man now..in many ways!!😆

But times move on. Showing one's ankles was considered racy at one point. I'm just glad women can get away with being slim and don't need to spend all those hours in the gym to get the 'ideal' bod like men do.

Sillyrabbitt · 05/01/2026 20:06

As someone who lost their public hair to chemotherapy, I find it really horrible to see people suggesting my body is like an 8yo (I also had a double mastectomy, what do you think of that? Does that make my body like a pre pubescent chikd?) And no my husband wasn’t a nonce for wanting to have sex with me Smile

😱

You epilate the whole lot? I can't even do my legs.

No I shave lol, but I’ve heard epilators are good.

I don’t look like an 8 year old and I’m married but I do it for myself- I’m just not a fan of the bush, I shave my legs and armpits too. DH gives his bits a trim / shave too. 😆

Once when I was 7 I covered myself in my dad’s shaving gel and shaved my whole body. 🤣 Think I used the whole can, he was not impressed.
