Removing pubic hair

bluedabadeedabadoo · 05/01/2026 11:52

Good morning all. How is everyone removing pubic hair nowadays (all of it).
I usually use removal cream but I’m overly sensitive and have come out in lots of red spots.
Shaving brings me out in red spots.
I don’t fancy waxing. Are there any other options out there?
Perhaps the electric shavers? What are they like, do they offer a close shave?
Home laser treatment- how does this work with public hair?

I know…I’m going off on a tangent but I find the implication that it is “cleaner”, “neater”, “sexier” as a women to remove all your pubic hair uncomfortable. Why do some women think this? Is it because we have been conditioned to believe that our vulvas are dirty, disgusting, and shameful? Do men feel like this about their genitals?

Personally, I just feel cleaner. I don’t think vulvas are dirty. Neither me or my husband mind if hair is there and we have sex. When I have left it to grow for a month or so I get very itchy.

I also feel the same when I shave my legs. Which I definitely do less of in winter but do feel fresher when I do.

My husband trims him pubic hair right down. Although I think he does it because it makes him look bigger 🤣

Leave it alone, or wait until you hit menopause and it all falls out 😂

NO IT DOES NOT! Mine became MUCH worse - and spilled down my thighs - when I hit menopause. I look (to quote the late, great Victoria Wood on the subject) like I should be sitting cross-legged in the woods playing the Pan Pipes!

Epilator? It’s just cleaner and smoother.

😳😱🥺

Mainly gay men.

Wait, what? Are gay men not men?

Oh god, I must have had sex with a lot of gay men!!

Edited

Me too 😕

Aghhhhhhhhhh · 05/01/2026 17:19

I shave all mine off NOT because I want to look like a child but because it itches like crazy and I HATE the feeling of having a hairy body its sensory hell for me!

BeardedBarley · 05/01/2026 17:22

Shaving or cream would not be for me.

I get the lot waxed off (Hollywood) and have done for at least 20 years (you’d hope it would get the message and fuck off for good). It really doesn’t hurt if you go to someone that uses hot wax. My beautician is completely brilliant at it and we chat all the way through - I honestly barely notice. Lovely and smooth for weeks and no prickly regrowth.

Im straight so I don’t care what a gay man does with his pubes.

Pubes do t itch unless you have an infestation. Re growth might itch so if you leave it alone you’ll be fine. Of course if that’s the reason you remove it.

BeardedBarley · 05/01/2026 17:25

Univerallyuniversal · 05/01/2026 15:17

It’s there for a reason. Only children don’t have pubic hair.

So silly.

I’d have hairy legs and armpits if I chose to, and that is there for a reason too. I never get why some MNers are perennially offended by adult’s choice to have no pubes.

By that logic, as a straight woman why do care what other women do with their pubes?

FionaBeee · 05/01/2026 17:26

Salon hot wax first (not strips!) then you can keep on top of it at home. I don't so much anymore - no need apart from summer holidays - but, GiGi brazilian hot wax is still my go to for home maintenance.
I never managed well with shaving, epilating, cream or wax strips. Hot wax was a game changer

The day men are willing to cover their ball sacks in hot wax and rip their pubes out for us, that's when I'll think about it.

I would also be really uncomfortable with someone who wanted me to look like an 8 year old down there!

BINGO! 26 comments in, and someone comes out with the same old tedious, predictable, old, boring chestnut that someone ALWAYS has to make on these threads......

'You look like a pre-pubescent child.'

Anyone who thinks a grown woman looks like an 8 year old girl, purely because she has shaved off her pubes needs to have a strong word with themselves.

Your comment says more about you, than any woman who shaves her pubic hair off, or any man who says he would like her to.

Oh, and also, many women shave their pubes because THEY WANT TO. It's not always for a man. Sex is great, (especially oral) with a shaven/bald pubic area

Try it one day. Might make you less judgemental and uptight! Wink

maartjebaabes · 05/01/2026 14:14

I do that. Several men I know do that. Do you think you helped answer OPs question?

Men's bits are ugly enough as it is without making them bald as well.

Just don't shave? trim maybe?

I used to itch horrendously down there until I started taking probiotics every day and I haven't itched since despite having a full bush.

Duckieorblane · 05/01/2026 17:44

Those saying men don't do this are decades out of date. It's a long time since I first saw places advertising "back, crack and sack" waxes.

Zanatdy · 05/01/2026 17:47

I shave mine as i’m nearly 50 and grey pubes are not attractive! To me or anyone else

My FWB gets his pubes all waxed off, including his testicles!

Womblechoc · 05/01/2026 17:55

I'm just mystified how waxing the 'undercarriage' works for an 'all off' situation, specifically the labia majora. Aren't they too delicate and 'foldy'? I know everyone has very different hair distribution and vulval shapes, but those who go 'all off' are you lucky to not have much labial hair or folds?

Bringemout · 05/01/2026 17:56

This is fascinating, I just trim mine once in a while, thats it.

Branleuse · 05/01/2026 17:56

midgetastic · 05/01/2026 13:39

Why don’t we think it’s just your personal choice?

Because it’s a strange choice to make ? It’s unhealthy and painful and yet you still want to persist ?

if you were self harming it would be seen as a bad thing. Why is this not self harming? What makes this ok?

It's not that strange tbh. It's quite normal for people to cut hair, trim bits, shave areas, pierce bits, get tattooed, change all sorts of things about their appearance.

It definitely doesn't look like I'm 8 years old when I shave my chuff. I've got hips and tits and loads of tattoos, which help me remember that I'm not 8 if I get confused.
