my friends all seem to have shoes off households now - do you take slippers with you? What kind would work, stylish, attractive?

I gather in other countries people take slippers with them to put on - this appeals - my feet get cold!!

Any ideas for stylish things to slip on my feet that I'll enjoy wearing? And are easy to carry??

My feet get cold @Namechange568899542 ... only a few of my friends have underfloor heating...so yes, I have two thick pairs of wooly sox I wear at home and at friends if we're casually dressed... but when I've put effort into an outfit, it feels very strange and rather sloppy to just wear socks at the bottom....

Love those cute pumps @FadedRed .... think I am going to treat myself.

So agree @clamshell24 .... taking shoes off all the time feels like such a recent cultural change... It is RUBBISH that people are walking all sorts into the house... As children, that's what doormats were for, cleaning your shoes... yes, if muddy of course shoes come off... but this ridiculousness about people having walked on toilet floors... Yes they have occasionally, but they've walked over a lot of ground since that, before coming into your house so I'd be surprised if one microbe was the same... It would be interesting to see a study about what really is on people's shoes after just walking down the street, and its not as if I am going to lick the floor inside after you've walked on it!! And so agree about pets walking in far rougher things!!

I know I’m in the minority but I grew up in a shoes on house and I actually find it rude to be asked to take my shoes off. I do it, but inside I think, grow up and get the hoover out afterwards if you’re that bothered. Even if I went to shoe free I wouldn’t ask other people to do it. I suppose it is a bit gross but I’m not one to worry about germs. Would probably have to hoover less though. Wouldn’t dream of taking a pair of slippers or wearing a used pair, I’d rather not go!

And I agree it’s a new thing. I’m sure when I was a kid you only got the odd family that were shoes off and the mother was always known as slightly neurotic in such cases.

I never knew that I was an option not to be shoes off (though my South African friend finds it very odd). My parents bring their slippers, as do some of my friends. I take some when I go to their house. I don’t wear slippers or socks at home.
