Welcome to the Toast thread where we talk about what we love, (and what drives us mad 😹), about all things Toast.

As usual, pictures are welcomed, as are comments, questions and info about Toastie topics.

Does anyone know if the Frankie coat ever goes on sale? I’ve lusted for a while but the price is insane

mizu · 31/01/2026 09:23

@Wtfdoidoplease I’ve had an offer from an eBay seller but it’s a teeny tiny discount

Thanks!! It’s last season’s colourway and I worry about returns when it’s something so expensive but I’ll think about it. I think I prefer this season’s lighter tweed though

ScottishMouse · 31/01/2026 16:53

Just went to have a look at the new stuff in store. I wanted to see the jersey skirt, but it did not work on me at all. I did unexpectedly buy the button through linen cotton poplin dress in washed black, which I didn’t even notice online. I need to try it on at home with different things to see if it is definitely a keeper, but it is so much nicer on than the model photos suggest. The fabric is not very poplin-like, more of a standard linen cotton, and I think it will work well across the seasons (probably even in Scottish summer!). The arms are roomy enough to fit a sweater under, and I tried it open as a sort of jacket/coat which also works well. I would ideally like it to be a couple of inches shorter, so may get it altered once I am sure it is a keeper.

I went into Toast Cambridge today and tried on the railroad stripe skirt and the blue crockery dress. The skirt was beautiful fabric and felt really high quality but it also felt too long and overwhelming - I’m 5ft 6, so I left that.

The crockery dress is lovely, I took my usual Toast dress size and it fitted well, was maxi length and I know will be a real workhorse. It came home with me. They were putting out the paisley print dress but I didn’t try it. The fabric felt lovely but was too men’s dressing gown for me. I’m hoping they do the same dress in a different pattern because it looks very flattering.

Also, looks like, as expected, I am no longer Kindred, having ‘only’ spent c.£800 over the past year, mostly full price 😵‍💫

ScottishMouse · 31/01/2026 18:31

I saw the paisley dress and top too @Saurus72. Patterns are not for me, but it did look very nice.

OftenOrange · 31/01/2026 21:17

Thank you for the info on new stock , I’m still reeling from overbuy in the sale and realisation that some things don’t really look great on me despite liking them a lot.
The crockery dress is really beautiful , which colourway do you all prefer ?
I’m definitely getting Kitchen from the names and veggie strewn silk cotton pieces but have they actually come out with a moniker?
The Conservatoire thing with model posed at a Steinway grand really grated as I found it pretentious, but I’m totally into the veggies and tea towels , authentic!

Scotiasdarling · 01/02/2026 08:35

I thought I was probably an ex Toast customer the other day when they sent me an email with a selection of things I might like and they were all beige! I've been dragging old Rundholz dresses out of storage and bought some beautiful new denim trousers from Oska, and was feeling pretty pleased on the wardrobe front until I got my Kindred renewal today and saw the dress with the bright print with lemons that the model holding pomegranates is wearing. I NEED IT! Do you think it's just a tease, or do you think it will appear later?

ScallopShellWalk · 01/02/2026 08:36

I received an invitation to kindred this morning. I have been rather obsessed by Toast this last wee while. I already had bought a post pass but I’ll look forward to seeing what other fun it brings.

I’m sorry @Saurus72 you lost yours.

Did anyone else get an invite this morning?

I’m planning a trip to Edinburgh today and wanted to go into the Toast shop. I planned to try in the black linen trousers but they have been moved out of all the shops now, except the one that holds sale/archive stock. I suspect they would have been too long for me anyway. Instead I’ll try the linen barrel cropped trousers. Might be a better length but I’m not sure what barrel will look like. I had been looking forward to the black.

I'm quite chuffed in a way I have kindred but also a bit skint now after the sale. 😁

Countmeout · 01/02/2026 09:26

I got mine @ScallopShellWalk . Because I am not near a shop I buy (and send back) a lot. Sorry you lost yours @Saurus72 although it’s so much more expensive now that most things must go into free post. No consolation I know.

That dress does look interesting @Scotiasdarling . Must be in the next drop.

Countmeout · 01/02/2026 09:28

Sorry for anyone interested in the dress here it is

I clocked that dress @Scotiasdarling has a 50s vibe
Is it me or does she look like she has huge hands clutching her pomegranates?😄

@ScottishMouse oooh there's a shirt !
The Paisley dress is on its way, hopeful that the fabric lifts it in a crisp cool summer 80s way.
Not sure I can justify both but sorely tempted.

My Kindred has just been renewed ,phew!

ScallopShellWalk · 01/02/2026 10:06

@Countmeout that does look very interesting and teasing. I don’t often have patterns but if I do I think I’d look at that. Love yellows and have none. Feeling summery a bit now then looking outside at the dreich and clag and I’ve a chunky knit on.

ScottishMouse · 01/02/2026 10:07

Yes @CheeseonToast2026. At a very quick glance it looked like the same/similar style as the silk cotton one with the tie neck that came in navy & gold.
I also got my Kindred renewal this morning. Sorry to those that didn’t. It’s so random, isn’t it? I have ordered a lot this year but have ended up keeping only a few pieces.

Stoic123 · 01/02/2026 11:25

Kindred also renewed here. I didn't buy as much last year as have done previous years but still bought something most months.

ToastCosILoveIt · 01/02/2026 12:18

Belated thanks to @ScallopShellWalk , @ScottishMouse and @OrangeyLemon for your feedback on the round neck mohair cardigan. I have progressed a return on the portal so that I don't miss the deadline but I still have to make up my mind on whether I keep it or not :). I put it on to type this post and am liking it. It also made me wonder how many of the clothes we receive, especially in the sale, have been tried on and returned by other Toasties on this thread or on our Facebook page!

I too had my Kindred renewed this morning. Rather shamefully I would say I am in the upper percentile for spend of Toast customers but I am at a point in my life where kids are young adults and I am still earning so I have space to prioritise my wardrobe :)

I like the jersey skirt in the new drop, was interested that it didn't work for you @ScottishMouse , can you say more about the fit and quality? I also like the paisley dress. It is a hark back to paisley print that Toast used in it's collections around 10-12 years ago I would say.

faustina · 01/02/2026 12:23

I got mine too. Maybe you're better at ordering the right size @Saurus72 and you don't place so many duff orders? It does seem random as I don't think I've spent as much as you. Or perhaps they're picking us off one by one so as to avoid a mass rising

ScottishMouse · 01/02/2026 12:37

@ToastCosILoveIt the skirt didn’t work for me because it was too long (but I am only 5’2”), and because there are pleats at the front - these just emphasised my belly and said belly made it hang weirdly. So I would say it would work on someone a bit taller and without a round meno belly. I also wondered if it would bag terribly at the bum and knees as it is quite straight. I also think the quality of the fabric was not as good as the jersey used to be. I think it has become a little thinner over the last few years. I have a dress in the same fabric from maybe 3 years ago and it definitely felt thinner than that. So I’m afraid my review is not great, but you should definitely give it a go as it might be great for you.

ScallopShellWalk · 01/02/2026 16:53

Just been into the Edinburgh toast shop. I’m pretty sure I saw the fruit dress with the lemons and green. It looked nice, had pride of place and definitely worth a try on but I didn’t have time. I tried on the linen trousers and was surprised to see that the sizes small, xs and xxs all fitted me, tho maybe small is the look I like most. I also tried the linen smock in blueberry and I am very very tempted. I think that was my favourite. I came home with silver stud eolith earrings (thank you for drawing my attention to them @cashmerecat I haven’t been able to stop thinking about them). I’m also having a think over the still life silk bandana for another time but I think it’s maybe not quite right. Was fun but I was being rushed out by my other half. Going back again soon.

Sorry for the double post I think it’s because I’m in the car and internet is sparse.

ScottishMouse · 01/02/2026 17:40

Had a bit of a try on with my new dress today, though it has been dark all day in my house so I couldn’t see all that well.
it is definitely longer than I would like, and I’m not sure if that makes it a bit frumpy. I usually do any hems myself but the bottom of this is a bit tricky so I don’t want to risk it. I have also had some terrible professional jobs done in the past so am reluctant to do that either. I usually only buy things that need to be taken up if I am confident I can do it myself.
I also realised that I have not worn a dress since last summer, and I recently got rid of all but one long linen one for very hot days.
This is all pointing to this not being a good buy for me. But it is lovely, and a bit different, and if I was better at “styling” (hate that term!), it would probably be useful in a number of situations/environments….🤔

AmethystMoonShine · 01/02/2026 18:23

I got my Kindred renewal too. I’m very envious of those that have been in a Toast shop recently and seen some of the new stock. My next chance will by half term when I’m due to be near the Mayfair store. I have an item needing repair which I must remember to take with me!

PrincessofWells · 02/02/2026 07:46

Kindred renewed here too, surprisingly. I'm not sure I've spent that much.
Edited to add it was around 1.1k.

ScallopShellWalk · 02/02/2026 08:52

Re kindred I fairly recently contacted toast about kindred and this was my response:

Kindred membership is reviewed annually and is based on many factors. There is no set criteria that we can advise. Invitations will be sent to kindred members annually in July.

So not only the amount spent, as that was kind of what I was asking but other things too. Though the kindreds are coming out and it’s not July as mentioned.
