I need to look fabulous

I've lost half my body weight and it so happens my ex husband will be attending the same conference as me in March. Its a big pagan thing so wear what you want
I need to look fabulous.
Has anyone seen any amazing pieces recently you can share with me. It would feel really good to put two fingers up.
I am 64 but enjoy fashion and can wear pretty much anything. My arms need to be covered and it will still be quite cold.

What was the point of the thread though, if you've already decided on the jacket?

Yeah, the jacket limits choices significantly as cant really see what will work with it let alone that fits the brief!

Missohnoyoubetterdont · 30/12/2025 22:27

Another no for the jacket. The holes are just awful. Love the green dress though. That works some nice boots/shoes would be awesome outfit.

ClaireEclair · 30/12/2025 23:01

What is your budget and dress size? You can get some really fabulous second hand designer dresses on sites like Vestiaire Collective.

Nothing says pagan like The Vampire’s Wife. They are very flattering and beautifully made…here are two I found but they are quite small (and they run small too). They are lovely!

I think a semi sheer top under that jacket with the trousers and heels would look wonderful OP...you could do silk or fine wool and an amazing bra...not see through but confident 🥰
Or maybe silver to pick up the eyelets
I like the jacket, trousers and heels idea ✨️💐✨️

Anyahyacinth · 30/12/2025 23:18

Seriously dislike the Vampires Wife green dress Trinny has it in several colours and I think it just has a terrible sad vibe

Pineapplesunshine · 30/12/2025 23:30

I love the idea of a jumpsuit. I’m thinking the Gillian Anderson sex education character vibe. There’s a teal jumpsuit she wears which is beautiful. I think it’s Nancy Mac and it’s crepe. They do velvet ones too. Pretty pricey but beautiful and may serve as inspiration if outside your price bracket (definitely outside mine!).

ConfusedCarly · 30/12/2025 23:36

Honestly if you can wear a heel rock them darling
I would say probably a dress and depending on the weather maybe tights with it aswell
At the moment Zara seem to have some really nice dresses so you can go look there I would definitely recommend
If you are wanting to cover your arms then maybe get a little scarf to put over or a simple but amazing cardigan
Usually I like to get my cardigans from little boutiques as they are usually such hidden jems
What sort of price range are you looking at ?

FishPie2 · 31/12/2025 00:07

I have a similar jacket to that, same brand, but the eyelets are much bigger and I get so many compliments when I wear it I would love another in a different colour. Have a look at that one if you want the eyelet jacket.

Missstified · 31/12/2025 00:47

What about a nice cowl-neck top to go underneath if you choose to go with smart jeans and the jacket?

I love clothes from Disturbia , and I think they be many clothes that will meet your brief .. If you’ve not shopped there before you’re missing a trick as I think it would be right up your street

Perrylobster · 30/12/2025 21:10

How’s your body - is it toned or any loose skin? I was going to suggest a nice jumpsuit with a nice bag and shoes but certain materials won’t look good if you skin is a bit loose and you might be better off with something structured.
Congratulations on the weight loss.

Jumpsuits are also very unkind to flat bums. Rear mirror check definitely required before buying!

I agree - and can also look great if you have a shapely bum.

FrostyFlo · 31/12/2025 07:47

Don't just think clothes , get you ready also . Great you've lost weight but start a new skin care regime .
Buy new make up if you wear it , learn how to apply it , sort out your hair and consider a new style .

Mailegchristmas · 31/12/2025 08:29

I quite like the blazer! I would pair it with a scoop neck or v neck black top. Go and get fitted for a wonder bra/well fitting push up bra. For trousers black leather leggings or straight leg black leather trousers would look good I think, with some black heeled boots? I would also belt the blazer because I think they can look a bit shapeless if not. Then I would wear a silver necklace.

I would buy a body glow oil for your décolletage or do a very light self tan. Go and have a blow dry before you go, keep up with skincare and lots of water. Professional whitening or some whitening toothpaste. These things always make me feel super confident and if you feel confident you’ll look your best, it’s magnetic. I wouldn’t go too heavy on the makeup, if you aren’t confident with makeup go to a makeup counter or watch some tutorials on YouTube.

you will look fabulous, keep your head up high and enjoy!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/12/2025 08:34

Black leather leggings and that jacket would be awful imo. Like a 1980s cliche.

Katrinawaves · 31/12/2025 08:50

Other than your age and that you have lost a lot of weight we don’t have a lot to go on in terms of what might make you ook fabulous!

Are you able to say how tall you are, what your body shape is and what your colouring is? You say the Debenhams jacket is a good shape for you. What makes you say that? It’s quite a shapeless piece so is it the length or the neckline that you think works well.

I get that it will be cold so you want arms covered and that you have a lump on your knee which means trousers or maxi skirts. What about shoes - any restrictions on heel height.

Finally what will you be doing at the conference? Will you be sitting around for most of the day with period when you stand up socialising or will it be a lot more active and interactive than this with clothes which need you to be able to move easily?

@Wot23 she's putting her efforts into attending a pagan conference. It just happens that the ex will be there....

This is mean. She just wants to look nice as a bit of a fuck you to him. And why the hell shouldn’t she?

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 31/12/2025 09:08

I‘m still not 100% sure about the vibe tbh. But you said that there will be a lot of black. Are you sure that you want to be wearing black as well? A colour would be an easy way to stand out a little. And it is (ime) very unusual for black to be a person’s best / most flattering colour.

what is you body shape like. More of an apple, hourglass, inverted triangle?

edit: and congratulations on the weightloss! It’s very normal to want to look your best when meeting somebody who wronged or hurt you.

don‘t forget about your hair. A nice blowout might be a good option.

CreepingCrone · 30/12/2025 19:31

If its a pagan event, how about looking at Ancient Earth dresses? (Previously called Stone Circle) They are really flattering with a witchy feel. I tend to wear Disturbia and Killstar to Pagan moots and the Festival for Pagans and Witches

These are great shouts, EMP also do some good pieces which might compliment the look

What a horrible ageist comment. I’ve no idea what you get from saying something like this.

your moral compass is way off
her primary intention is to be mean, not just look nice.

and you think that someone whose sole intent is to rub the nose of an ex is not "horrible"
