How often do you change your earrings?

What earrings do you have and how often do you change them?

OP posts:

I have a pair in my second piercing that are small studs and I never change them. Wear a variety in my first piercing but often go without. I recently got some hoops that I would usually swerve and have found them so comfy I left them in all week. Usually just pop a random pair in when I go into the office and don't bother if wfh. How ofter do you change yours?

dementedpixie · 20/12/2025 23:01

Mine have been in for months. They are flat backed labrets and designed to stay in for long periods

HansHolbein · 20/12/2025 23:03

I have a disgusting amount. I change them every day. Take them off to sleep, though.

k1233 · 20/12/2025 23:07

I had my ears pierced when I was five. Throughout school you just kept studs or sleepers in. I left them out for a few years through uni (hence why noting age they were first done). Once I started work I change them daily. I do "active" things outside of work so having no earrings in to get caught and ripped out is best.

AorticValve · 20/12/2025 23:13

I don't.
I have a single pair of pearl studs that I live in day and night. On a rare night out, I have a pair of pearl drops. Feck me, I sound ancient.

AleynEivlys · 20/12/2025 23:18

I've got 7 in my left ear and 6 in my right, and most are in such awkward, fiddly places (rook, daith, tragus, conch, flat etc.) that I only change them once every 1-2 years when I'm sick of my set up. It takes upward of an hour to get all the posts through the back of each piercing and the tiny tops screwed on!

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 20/12/2025 23:19

Diamond studs and I never change them.

billiongulls · 20/12/2025 23:19

Daily

gollyimholly · 20/12/2025 23:21

Daily. It's because I find them uncomfortable to sleep in and when I'm laying on my side feel like the "needle" bit digs into my head as my ear gets pushed against the pillow.

blueshoes · 20/12/2025 23:22

I have opalescent stainless steel studs which I wear as 'placeholders' every day to stop my piercing hole from closing up and avoid allergic reactions. I change it decorative earrings to suit my outfit when I go out and change back to my studs before I go to bed or shower.

WhoamItoday11 · 20/12/2025 23:24

I used to change them regularly to match my outfit. But I've lost loads (usually just one of the pair of course!) and I've now got screw back diamond studs. The screw backs are a bit of a pain to put in, so I rarely change them now. Less than once a month.

DramaAlpaca · 20/12/2025 23:34

I have loads of pairs of earrings. I have two lobe piercings and I change the first ones daily as I like to ring the changes.

The second ones get changed every few days. I wear studs in those and I find they get awful stinky if not changed regularly and the holes given a good clean in the shower. It can't be hygienic to leave them in all the time.

louderthan · 20/12/2025 23:36

Every day! Depending on outfit. I’ve got at least 50 pairs (all cheap though!). I don’t see the point of having pierced ears if you wear the same earrings all the time.

JBJ · 21/12/2025 00:06

Very rarely. I have 3 piercings in each lobe and have small hoops in them all. Occasionally change the bottom ones if I’m going out, but mostly don’t remember!

PGmicstand · 21/12/2025 00:09

I might temporarily change them once or twice a year. I wear small thin hoops in all 5 of my piercings all the time. Very occasionally I'll put some fancy earrings in (sparkly drops or semi precious stones).
Usually I cba to keep taking them on and though.

RecordBreakers · 21/12/2025 00:14

I decide which pair I'm wearing when I get dressed each day.
I've got loads of earrings - including probably 20 different Christmassy ones - so I dress up or down depending on where I'm going / what I'm doing / practicality / and mostly, what I am wearing.

GivingUpFinally · 21/12/2025 00:28

Think the last time I changed mine was 3 years ago. Titanium hoops in first hole and diamond and platinum studs in second hole. Titanium and platinum seem to be the only metals I can wear without a reaction. I do occasionally take them out and give the piercing and earrings a good clean

KeenSnail · 21/12/2025 00:36

I have around 15 pairs of ‘good’ earrings that are yellow or white gold with precious stones. They are all fairy classic/ simple either studs or huggy hoops.

I have two piercings, my lobes and my seconds on both ears and I change both sets mostly every day. I like to match them to my outfits.

For the last few years my parents and my husband have been gifting me earrings for birthdays and Christmas because they know I enjoy them. My mother has made comments that she looks forward to seeing what combination I have in when I see her as I change them so frequently.

I do tend to sleep in them as I don’t find them uncomfortable.

BluePeterAdventWreath · 21/12/2025 00:48

Large diamond studs, never change them.

Makingpeace · 21/12/2025 00:50

Oh absolutely this.

SouthernNights59 · 21/12/2025 01:05

I have quite a lot and while I often stick to the same pair for several days I take them out at night, I can't stand sleeping in earrings.

seaelephant · 21/12/2025 01:09

Everyday. I don't shower or sleep in them and I own 50 or so (recently did a cull). All very cheap costume jewellery that I pick to match my outfit/mood, my most expensive pair is £15!

GeorgeBeckett · 21/12/2025 01:56

When I lose them! Buy inexpensive from Etsy, wear constantly, day/night/shower/swim. Eventually I’ll lose a bit of one and then I’ll change them. Unless I’m going somewhere fancy that necessitates more than basic studs. Or it’s Christmas when I wear my dangly mince pies. Can’t sleep in danglies!

Yesimmoaningaboutbenefits · 21/12/2025 01:59

Diamond studs. Very rarely, I'll change them if I need something more dressy.

EBearhug · 21/12/2025 08:49

Daily. I don't sleep or shower in them, nor swim in them (suspect chlorinated water wouldn't be good for some of them.) I'm currently working through all my different Christmas earrings. Rest of the year it depends on the day, what I'm wearing. I've got loads.
