What earrings do you have and how often do you change them?

Daily. It's because I find them uncomfortable to sleep in and when I'm laying on my side feel like the "needle" bit digs into my head as my ear gets pushed against the pillow.

I wear flat backs so there isn't a pointy bit to dig in at the back

eurochick · 21/12/2025 09:31

Daily. I take them out to sleep and choose a pair to match my outfit and mood each morning.

Freda69 · 21/12/2025 09:42

Every day, because I can’t sleep in them. I’ve got loads because I used to make them and my husband also buys me them (expensive ones). My friends say I choose my ear rings for the day and then choose clothes to go with them.

Fourkgtogo · 21/12/2025 09:43

I have small diamond studs that were a present 14 years ago! They stay in all the time, they do come out for an occasional scrub with a toothbrush 😂

Diamond studs. Very rarely, I'll change them if I need something more dressy.

Same here

NigelForage · 21/12/2025 13:07

Diamond studs all the time is so basic

dontforgetme · 21/12/2025 13:13

I have diamond studs in my 1st and seconds, never take them out. I also have my rook, tragus and conch in both ears, I go to the studio once or twice a year buy new jewellery and have them change them for me. My fingers are too fat 😂

Ineedanewsofa · 21/12/2025 13:31

As per pp, daily as I don’t sleep, swim or do sport in them. Have various pairs, all gold or silver though, costume earrings cause irritation really quickly (suspect it’s the nickel content)

Denim4ever · 21/12/2025 13:37

I don't sleep in them, so I wear different daily to coordinate with outfits or other jewellery

AgentPidge · 21/12/2025 13:37

I have tiny "diamond" studs that stay in most of the time. I take them out when I wash my hair. I put something more dressy in when I go out with friends etc.

Overtheatlantic · 21/12/2025 13:41

Every day. I have three pairs of gold hoops in different sizes and change them out. For Christmas Day I’ve bought these beauties. 🎅🏼

I don’t ever change mine, have a small pair of rose gold diamond Huggies in my first and rose gold Gucci studs in my seconds, I’ve had them both in for years now.
Only take them out to clean up every few months

Flutterbees · 21/12/2025 13:55

Daily, I have hundreds of pairs (I’m a teacher, my students love seeing which earrings I’m wearing each day).

GameOfJones · 21/12/2025 14:01

Not very often. Probably every two to four weeks for my lobe studs as I wear them constantly and then give them a change over when I can be bothered.

My cartilage piercings I've only changed once since 2020 because they're a total faff to swap over!

Fishneedscycle · 21/12/2025 14:11

Don’t people who never change them find they get dirty through hair washing in the shower?

Not if you let water run over them when rinsing your hair

BIossomtoes · 21/12/2025 14:51

My top piercings never change, they’re silver studs that look like tiny twigs. I take the bottom ones out every night and choose different ones when I get dressed.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/12/2025 16:04

I mainly wear gold hoops and have loads of different pairs so choose a set each morning. They’re generally from Oliver Bonas and not expensive.

FirstDayonthePlanet · 21/12/2025 18:18

About every 6 weeks when I get my eyebrows done! because I can’t change my flat backs myself, nor my right huggie, so my brow lady kindly does them for me. She did also do some of the piercings I should add.
my right ear lobe piercing was done as a child in 1992, closed up and redone a couple of years later. As such there’s 2 different trajectories going from the same piercing on the right lobe, one of which is closed up. I just can’t get a hoop in there! I’m ok with a straight post but it takes a few tries. Left side is fine.

I still use the post-piercing after care spray everyday, seems to keep them clean/fresh.
I only got my 2nd lobe piercings earlier this year and have just kept on using the spray.

No. How would they get dirty from washing? I'm really confused by this thought.

AlexaBeQuiet · 21/12/2025 20:44

Daily, I don’t sleep in earrings so choose a pair when I get dressed each day to compliment my outfit. Probably only have less than 10 pairs but they are all quite expensive.

RuudGullitOnAShed · 21/12/2025 20:49

I have 12 ear piercings and wear Huggies or flat back labrets so hardly ever change them - I do spend a lot of money on real gold and diamond earrings which I justify because I wear them all the time

tobee · 21/12/2025 21:02

I can't wear some of my studs for more than a day or two because my ear lobes get irritated. Once the back disappeared into my lobe because of a bad reaction to it and I had to get it removed by a hcp. I've not got it together yet to work out what the offending metal is. I can wear non studs problem free.

Might the backs be too tight or butterfly backs are notorious for causing irritation.
