Everyone welcome to chat about beauty and/or share bargain finds.

@TragicMuse the problem is all this brands were once founder run independents but eventually the majority sell to the big conglomerates and you don't always realise. I recently found out that Naturium sold to the company behind ELF which is a shame.

I suspect with beauty brands some of the problem is once they become popular they can't scale up on their own to meet the demand that comes with signing contracts for Sephora/SNK etc. but without getting into these retailers the brand won't meet growth targets.

@JoRaRaRa could you just share some of the products or do you both want the same stuff from it?

I'm not sure, I think we'd both want the night creams 🤔 When I originally saw it, I instantly thought of my mum as she uses elemis all the time. She doesn't stash though, she buys as she goes.

I came out of the vets with the dog, had the good news and so I called my mum, then mentioned the calendar and when I went through the content list with her, I then decided that I needed it too. I was just faster at ordering 🤣 I think she only ordered it about 5 mins later though. Hopefully it'll get dispatched today or tomorrow and we don't need to fight over the one I've got 🤣

OvaHere · 11/01/2026 13:58

Your Mum is very sensible! 😂

I don't always pay a lot of attention to the day/night cream labelling. If a cream is rich enough for me to use at night then I'll use it even if it says day on the jar.

The Lancome Renergie cream I've discovered as a new love I was surprised to find is marketed as day cream (they have a specific night version) it's so rich I probably wouldn't use it as day cream.

You’re absolutely right. And then the products get diluted or favourite things are discontinued and then founder starts a whole new brand, eg Jones Road or Jo Loves. And that’s a whole new thing to deal with.

I hope Trinny keeps hold for a while, I love her ethos and approach and don’t want to lose that!

OMG you’ve just reminded me that I have the Lancôme box/bag as well! I had only thought about the eyeshadow palette but it has creams, serums, etc doesn’t it 🙈 - my stash keeps growing 😅

I can't really get into Trinny products but on the principle I do agree. I also don't mind getting them in edits and advents because anything Trinny always sells instantly on Vinted.

I'm afraid it does yes. 😂There's nothing too big in there IIRC. The toner is probably the largest product. I started using the mascara and mascara primer that came it the box. They're okay but nothing amazing, I think I prefer EL Double Wear mascara.

On light therapy and eyesight thought I'd share. My eyesight started to improve, took me a while to work out why, then it occured to me it might be the red light mask and off to google I went (no AI at this point) I'll put UCL links below but for 40+ red light has benefits to your eye sight.
But.....blue light is looking to be very different, people with lenses after cataract surgery had lower clot risk if they had the blue light blocking lenses against those who had plain lenses. This is important to me as I make too many platelets. They've done tests on mice with just red light and darkness and again far fewer clots. It looks like the absence of blue is what helps and red light doesn't cause problems. So I never use my mask with a setting that has blue light in it and I changed all my smart bulbs settings so they didn't have blue light just in case as you never know.

Morning exposure to deep red light improves declining eyesight

Just three minutes of exposure to deep red light once a week, when delivered in the morning, can significantly improve declining eyesight, finds a pioneering new study by UCL researchers.

@Doglover73 Thanks! I’m aware of the mission Christmas one, I thought it was something else. Sadly I had intended to donate some things but had such a rubbish and stressful month that I didn’t get organised in time. I’ll make sure I do my bit this year!

I just got a great deal on Tatcha. 15% new customer, lucky bag and bought a duo of full size creams that already represented a saving over buying each individually.

How I did it:

  1. Sign up as a new customer and get a code
  2. Choose your products and at the basket stage use the code LUCKY26 for the goody bag
  3. Then at the payment screen (the page after the basket) add your personalised 15% off code. The price will go down and the lucky bag will stay in the basket.

Based on this I got the indigo cream, the dewy cream and the goody bag for £110. I’ll probably sell the contents of the goody bag for approx £40, which would make the two creams around £70 (the indigo cream alone is £86).

@Nospecialcharactersplease that's some good bargain hunting 🥰

Puravida23 · 11/01/2026 17:15

Not sure if already posted but I thought this next box looked quite good especially if you like Dermalogica as the moisturiser alone retails for over £90. It does have floral street in it though (and dr pawpaw!) 😃

This is the exact thing I’m thinking of doing except I’d keep the goody bags apart from the lip product.

BlueLimes · 11/01/2026 17:23

@Puravida23 I saw this earlier and tempted to get if it wasn’t for the fact I’ve 16 face creams to use and about to order the Tatcha deal.

in my defence (I don’t I don’t need to put up a defence here), some are minis.

That does look good just for the face cream.

I've noticed we're suddenly getting these expensive full sized Dermalogica products in boxes. That seems to be a new thing because prior to the end of last year you'd only get the teeniest sample of something if Dermalogica was in a box. I wonder if they're not doing well.

I'm not going to buy it as 8 products (inc the bag) I don't want just for one I wouldn't mind breaks all my recent rules and not just the low buy one. If I didn't already own 20 billion moisturisers it would be different. 😂

Talking of 20 billion moisturisers my Elemis BAC arrived. I probably won't unbox it until later in the week when I can do it peace and have figured out where it's going to go.

This is what I've thought, I've left it boxed up for now until I can fully focus on it 😊

Dermalogica is another Unilever brand, used to be salon only. Never really tried it but was very keen on the item in the CEW edit but it has fragrance essential oils in quite high up which was a surprise. Unilever closed down Ren too so maybe lots of issues.

I used to use it semi regularly about 15+ years ago. Just a moisturiser as I was very low maintenance with young skin and young kids (imagine!!! 😂).

I did first try it at a salon and I bought the face cream once or twice a year as a treat. In between I'm not sure what I used - something low cost from the supermarket, Olay or whatever was on offer. It was my first introduction into realising better stuff was out there than what was on the shelf at Asda but I couldn't buy it often and internet shopping wasn't quite what it is now.
