Bit of a miss for me today too. I feel like cleanser is a chore, and so it doesn’t feel like a treat.

Growlybear83 · 02/12/2025 12:55

Oh dear! I didn’t think my lost had gone through at all! 😆😆😆

TragicMuse · 02/12/2025 13:24

I’m ok with cleanser as I embraced double cleansing a few months ago so I get through it fairly quickly! Plus I can share with the teen…

Not exciting exactly but useful and nice to try a new brand.

OvaHere · 02/12/2025 14:05

BIossomtoes · 02/12/2025 10:57

I’m not quite that bad but I had 97 lipsticks the last time I (was forced to) counted them. The shame. 😳

That makes me feel better. I've been feeling bad about my lipsticks. I haven't counted but I reckon about 15 -20. This does not include glosses and balms, just bullet lipsticks.

JoRaRaRa · 02/12/2025 14:31

I love that the cleanser got a triple meh @Growlybear83 🤣

Not beauty but I have a hefty lingerie addiction. Hundreds of knickers. Literally. It’s ridiculous, and I am absolutely unrepentant!

I have lots of makeup and boxes of products but y’know. Come the zombie apocalypse I will still have good skin and a winged eyeliner. Why let standards slip just because the living dead at massing in the garden?…

Alternatively, a bit of strategic green shadow and I can hide in plain sight.

Circularmadness · 02/12/2025 15:53

Ha, seems I’m contrary to most on this thread! I LOVE a cleaner and I’m excited to try this brand! The perfume isn’t for me! Looking forward to day 3!!

IlovePond · 02/12/2025 15:59

😹 @TragicMuse

@BIossomtoes - you have made me feel so much better about my stash! I seem to be currently under the impression that buying more containers for it all somehow reduces the amount🙀In my defence, though - I am using it!

Only just opened today's, late to the party as always! I was a bit hmm when I opened the box but, having read the blurb, I think I'll try using it more as a leave on/wash off face mask and see if the magic ingredients soften the rhino hide that is my face!

We’ve been called ‘mindless consumerists’ on this thread for having BACs.
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/5453551-to-think-all-of-these-christmas-boxes-are-just-mindless-consumerism

I think this thread shows the opposite- we’re all taking the time too really consider and appreciate every item in the calendar.

I'm not sure the poster is targeting this thread, or the other BAC threads in particular. The poster seems to be making a general comment about over consumerism and how it has crept in to British Christmas traditions.

TBF - I have definitely bought too much stuff this year.

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 02/12/2025 18:40

Underwhelmed by today’s offering and didn’t like the perfume yesterday so high hopes for tomorrow.

Howmanyroses · 02/12/2025 18:43

Couldn't get on with the perfume yesterday, the cleanser today is fine, I'll use it, but nothing to be excited about..

Buster27 · 02/12/2025 18:44

I love a cleanser and my current one is nearly finished so will move on to this next week!

WhatAmIsupposeToDoNow · 02/12/2025 18:48

Joining the thread. Didn't try the perfume yet. And agree that cleanser is not disappointing. But nevertheless, let's hope tomorrow is better. Finally getting into Christmas spirit!

Growlybear83 · 02/12/2025 18:50

I really don’t give a toss what anyone thinks of those of us who choose to buy things like advent calendars. There are many things that are important to other people that I wouldn’t consider spending my money on, such as going to the hairdresser, going on expensive holidays etc, but I don’t begrudge other people who do and certainly wouldn’t waste my time starting a thread on an internet forum to criticise people who spend their money on things that they enjoy. I’ve spent my entire life working and looking after my family, and I’m now in the fortunate position that in my late 60s I’m able to indulge myself in some ‘mindless consumerism’ and I love it 😆😆😆

I’m glad to be of service! I also use all my lipsticks, some of them only look good in the summer or winter. One of my favourite summer ones makes me look ill at this time of year.

SemmaLina · 02/12/2025 20:31

Tried the cleanser this morning , I like it
Good start to the day , as I won £150 on the Bonds this morning , and my Vinted drawstring bag is on its way !
Winning At Life . I love a bit of Mindless Consumerism

BeeCucumber · 02/12/2025 20:40

I’ve got this AC and the JL AC too. Happy with the cleanser - but in my JL no 2 box, the hair oil was not secured tightly and emptied its contents all over my dressing table! Oh well - at least it’s left it looking shiny.

I love a bit of Mindless Consumerism - my Winter Fuel Allowance won’t spend itself!

Seagullstopitnow · 02/12/2025 21:54

HumBumBum · 02/12/2025 08:12

Nice enough but hard to get excited about a cleansing gel. I loved the Omorovicza (however you spell it) that we got in the Beauty Drop and bought more of that one, hope this is as good!

I forgot all about that! I definitely need to get some more

Seagullstopitnow · 02/12/2025 22:05

Also couldn't give a toss about "mindless consumerism"
I save all year (via the beauty boxes) to be able to afford this yearly treat. It makes getting up when it's still dark less of a chore, and means I get to try all sorts of things I wouldn't normally.
I found my holy grail shampoo and conditioner via liberty boxes/BAC!
Nothing gets thrown away, I trade with my mum or sell any items I don't like on vinted. I buy people's spares of things i love and use every bit. Not very "mindless consumerism" approach in my opinion.

countdowntonap · 02/12/2025 22:17

@Seagullstopitnow what are your holy grail shampoo and conditioner?
I’ve repurchased M&G cleansing shampoo and the Dizziak shampoo/conditioner after trying them in the beauty drops.

WhatILoved · 02/12/2025 22:18

I always cleanse so today was useful. Looking forward to trying it tomorrow morning.

spoeke · 03/12/2025 07:05

Big thumbs up from me for today! This is my favourite kind of advent calendar treat! 🤗

Netaporter · 03/12/2025 07:06

Today’s is good for me. I’ve not used today’s product previously, but my current Vit C serum will run out shortly after Xmas so this will be a useful replacement. It won’t be as powerful as a single Vit C serum I’m sure, but I’m keen to try it.

If anyone is unfamiliar/unsure where to fit this into a skincare routine, you should apply this to freshly cleansed skin and after a toner if you use one. You can then apply a moisturiser after giving time for the product to sink in. This product can be used in the morning or the evening. If you use in the morning, be sure to apply an spf (a combined moisturiser one is fine) even in the winter months.
