General “Waifs and Strays” Beauty Advent Calendar opening thread.

As in previous years, this a thread for those opening Beauty Advent Calendars not covered by specific calendar opening threads - though happy for those to be shared here too. Also looking forward to hearing about the “Frankenstein” curations.

Carrying on the tradition from previous years, it will also be fun to hear about other calendar openings - Degusta, jam, cheese anyone?

I know there are mixed feelings on this, but many of us would really appreciate it if spoilers are not posted before 7am on the relevant day, though if the consensus is this is too late we could
make it from midnight on the day? Please also avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance.

Posting pictures of contents is also always much appreciated.

I’ll be opening the Selfrdiges and Jo Loves calendars this year. Really looking forward to tomorrow.

Anthropologie is a Who is Elijah. Morning After. So weak I can’t smell it after an hour. It’s a vegan one so will be going in one of my sd’s lucky dips bag. Bird & Blend is Gingerbread chai. Took one into work for a verrrrrry long meeting. Spicy and warming, even though no caffeine still kept me going.

I was happy with the Killian perfume start-off as well. Looking forward to trying it :)

Oh that's a shame. I can still just about smell mine now and I sprayed it on at about 8.15 this morning. Perhaps I was a bit heavy-handed with it.

I have manicurist and typology. Saving for jan as bought a few 🤣

Have just used the Caudalie vinohydra mask which I got this morning. Lovely texture but smells like veet 🤭!

I’ve got the Twinings tea - going to use that in a minute! I would have been impressed by Amazon as I only ordered it yesterday, except that they delivered to my neighbours instead and left it outside in a puddle 🙀 Rescued it from the rain just in time, fortunately !

DIY refilled calendar was a L’Occitane shower gel, (well done, me! I had totally forgotten it was in there.)

I was going to save my Rituals wreath for next year but it’s so huge and I haven’t got the space. I was pleased to see shower oil in Day One. I absolutely love shower and shampoo doors.

Heroes choc calendar day one was a mini Dairy Milk.

In keeping with what a previous poster said - I am going to use things up as I get them. So shower goodies are going straight in the shower, tea bag in a cup and I’m eating the chocolate now😹

I am loving the pics of people’s calendars - the Yepoda, Sylvan Glow, Brown Thomas and Lumene are especially beautiful.

I’m regretting not buying Yepoda - one for next year, I think. Sylvan Glow passed me by - wish I’d seen it. Weirdly I had that Daisique blush in my basket on a K-beauty site only yesterday, but haven’t pressed buy as yet.

DDog will be pleased to discover he has an advent calendar again this year. It will be a nice treat for him when he comes back soaked from his walk. Ditto DH who will be in need of his surprise Lindt calendar chocolate when he arrives back - it’s pouring down here🙀

@AndeanFlamingo agree the design of the Jo Loves calendar is rubbish (pic below for others to see). It takes up a huge amount of space and isn’t actually particularly eye catching, though I can see how the concept would have seemed like a good idea originally.

Cheese calendar was a Cheshire cheese - nice, though not particularly memorable.

Cucumber eye mask in Korres - I’ve decided to open H&B in the morning and Korres in the evening as I need a lot of cheering up at this season.

@clary I only discovered Glosters earlier this year and I get so excited for the seasons now! @LightandBreezy sure, will post photos

Day 1 Jo Loves was Pink Vetiver lotion - it’s okay, but not one of my preferred JL fragrances. It’s my second version of this calendar as the first one that arrived had been bashed about and all of the boxes dislodged, so it was sent back. The second one was only marginally better but I couldn’t be bothered with sending it back again for a replacement. I agree with @AndeanFlamingo that it is not easily stored once opened, but it should be easy to break down for recycling.

Day 1 Glosters was a mug in a festive design - it reminds me of a robin and I’m looking forward to using it tomorrow!

@AprilLady where did you get the cheese calendar from? Sounds yum 😋

Meanwhile my last minute cheese calendar order has not arrived. It was due today but nowhere to be seen!

@JoRaRaRa it’s from Paxton and Whitfield. They send it out in three batches - so received the first lot end of last week. I found out about it because someone else on the thread last year had one.

The more I see it the more beautiful it gets ❤️ so very clever. I just need to find someone to make this !
