General “Waifs and Strays” Beauty Advent Calendar opening thread.

As in previous years, this a thread for those opening Beauty Advent Calendars not covered by specific calendar opening threads - though happy for those to be shared here too. Also looking forward to hearing about the “Frankenstein” curations.

Carrying on the tradition from previous years, it will also be fun to hear about other calendar openings - Degusta, jam, cheese anyone?

I know there are mixed feelings on this, but many of us would really appreciate it if spoilers are not posted before 7am on the relevant day, though if the consensus is this is too late we could
make it from midnight on the day? Please also avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance.

Posting pictures of contents is also always much appreciated.

Oh I'd love to join in. I have a Sephora Collection Premium Advent Calendar and the No7 Beauty one from last year (I had a Boots Beauty and a Body Shop one last year so I kept the No7 one). I also have a Kinder Bueno and my DH has a retro electronic games one which I thought he'd love being all nerdy but he wasn't sure tonight. He did have his pained face on for some time when he was assembling it!

The Sephora one was a lipstick in a colour I will never wear so that will go in someone's stocking. It is a bit nude which makes me look dead. The No7 one was a Hydraluminous day gel moisturiser mini that will go in my mini collection for work trips. Looks like it might be a bit like the Neutrogena Hydra Boost which I do like in the summer months.

Very jealous of those who have a Dyptique one. And intrigued at the Korean ones.... they are very much on my radar for next year.

That’s a beautiful calendar, I’ve got Look Fantastic which is extremely plain , but I’m not complaining as it was an unexpected present.

My lovely teenage daughter has this morning surprised me with a Nivea AC. 😍 It's so so pretty and Christmas and it was soooo lovely of her! I gave her the ASOS AC and she had a Mac lipstick in nude as the first item, which was really nice, but my AC box is much much more beautiful and Christmassy 😍 The ASOS box is very plain. She also has the Where is Wally chocolate advent calendar.

I also got my mum an Yves Rocher AC and her box is beautiful as well (pic attached).

I forgot that I also got myself the No7 12-day calendar, but now that I have my lovely Nivea calendar I will open the No7 one for the 12-days of Christmas 🎄

Rituals is keratin recovery hair mask. Dd got byoma moisturiser in her Frankenstein calendar.

I bought myself the Boots Premium Beauty AC. Today it’s an Aveda hair treatment.
Yesterday’s was a Caudalie moisturising face mask which I left on overnight and it’s lovely.
Everyone’s boxes look nice enough to be used afterwards,eg as jewellery boxes.

Sephora today I got a Elemis cleanser and nude lipstick. Bit pale but I’ll blend it with a lipliner and make it work!

A bit disappointed with today's from Anthropologie. Did anyone else's look like this?

I think there's tutorials on YouTube on how to fix broken eyeshadow, blusher etc. Hopefully you can get it sorted.

Also contact them, they may offer you a voucher or a refund. Harrods did that with me a few years ago when the eyeshadow stick arrived broken.

I was happy the aveda was today - it's a practical one for me this morning because I use it religiously before blow drying after discovering it in an m and s edit a few years ago.

H&B Cetaphil cleanser today - not exciting but useful, and a decent sized bottle.

I love that Aveda hair stuff now - I can’t believe I gave away all the ones I acquired in calendars/beauty boxes until finally trying the one I have on the go now 🙈 No wonder people were snapping my hand off for them!

@Favouritepigeon - I would definitely send that picture to Anthropologie CS and ask them how they are going to make it right.

Day 2 in my messed with JL and from other comments this is a completely different drawer? I had help taking bits out and adding bits in so I don’t know what I’ve got in each drawer 😆. Going to use the VB eyeliner today and the toner this morning.

Cinnamon! Fab for this time of year. I already have Fig in the same range and I like how easy these are to apply ☺️

You can imagine the Jo Loves one looking amazing in the concept artwork and then everyone concealing disappointment when the production version didn't live up to it. It would look better if it was printed in different colours to look like a Christmas village - perhaps that was the original design idea but they couldn't make the costs work.
