Wide leg jeans

I'm looking for recommendations for wide leg jeans. Up until a year ago I wore skinny jeans and then I got some nice bootcut jeans from M&S but now I want to try wide leg to upgrade my millennial uniform!

I'm relatively slim and average height if that makes a difference...

Jeans are difficult and so much on body shape. Pic of jeans and then on some 6 foot model. They look more like flares.

My DD17 told me I looked like a frumpy middle aged mum in these. I've gone back to my Mango wide leg jeans, the cut just looks a bit more modern.

I also have my eyes on some from Jigsaw that have a twisted seam.

Maybe you need to speak to your 17 year old about using language like that.

I looked for a while and didn’t like most I tried on, I found the ‘adalae’ style at new look and really like them

Oilofeveningprimrose · 26/11/2025 11:09

Zara!

Diggetydawg · 26/11/2025 12:14

Levi XL Straight are lovely on and great quality. I also have the Superlow Loose which aren't as baggy and a great fit, also lower on the waist which i find more comfortable

UrsulaBelle · 26/11/2025 15:37

I really like the Halara ones. They are very stretchy so I needed to size down. They are also very long. I'm 5'4" with shortish legs and the petite are perfect.

OldieButBaddie · 26/11/2025 16:36

Hollister do great ones which don't come up to your bra strap (as many of these high waisted ones do for me!)

The current trend for wide legs/barrel legs/carrot legs is awful - especially if they are short! Honestly, just don't - they don't flatter many people. Stick with what suits you - do you really care about fashion??

I've found they look great on most of my friends and acquaintances. Those still wearing skinnies look dated.

Stillpoor · 26/11/2025 19:41

Im not a fan of wide leg jeans i think they look awful.

ItsDarkNow · 26/11/2025 19:42

My Essential Wardrobe - Lara jeans.

I dont agree sorry.
Some may think they look good in wide leg jeans but tbh no.
It makes alot of folk look like they have huge legs and all i can think of is who brag back the 70s.
Now slacky jean or skinnies are not dated they make anyone looked put together.

Her daughter didnt say anything wrong.
She said she looked like a frumpy middle aged mum your making it sound as if she called her mum a cuxt.

FollowingAzureSeas · 26/11/2025 19:55

I have some F&f ones but they were sold out by the time I decided I liked them. Wish I'd bought a second pair. They have nice 70s style front pockets.
I do struggle with the high waist even though I'm tall, would love some mid rises.

I've got a pair of dark blue levi's (I think the ribcage ones) and a paler pair from hush. Love them (and 18 yr old DD approves too!)

I disagree. I look great in them, as do most of my contemporaries.

Those who don't move with the times don't realise how dated they look, often until it's too late.

I also disagree with you. The right pair of wide leg jeans are incredibly flattering. Not barrel leg, I’m not really a fan of them, but wide leg, can be hugely flattering. They need to be slim fitting over the hips and waist then gently flare into a wide leg and be in a soft denim,so they are flowy rather than stiff.

i do agree some get the wrong shape for their body, but that can be said for any jeans cut. I’ve seen many people in skinny jeans where it wasn’t very flattering/

skinny jeans are really dated, once you make the change you see it and would struggle to go back. I’ve no idea what slacky jeans are though, do you mean like slacks as in straight leg? They are better than skinny to be fair.

WickedElpheba · 26/11/2025 21:29

I also think wide leg jeans can look really dated and was surprised how much I love my wide leg trousers, so much so they I want to wear them all the time, hence wanting wide leg jeans now.

i do have some M&S bootcut jeans I've had for a year or so that I love and have mostly moved from skinnies but I still wear them at home and on the school run as I have some super comfy ones. I would like to look less dated personally but I'm a firm believer in wearing what suits you!

thank you for all the suggestions. I'll definitely try M&S and look at the others suggested. I do love fatfafe denim so may give those a go and I've been really curious about balata but wary of the quality... it's useful to see a couple of people have suggested them.

I bought these last week and love them. So comfy and the perfect shape for me.

I have these too! They are my favourite Jean of all time. My only slight criticism is that at five feet four inches, the short is a wee bit short and the regular a wee bit long, I have a pair of each but would prefer the length bang in between 😀

Flomingho · 27/11/2025 03:18

I have these . They are one of my favourite jeans. Even though I am short, I seem to get away with them in regular length.

Sparklesandspandexgallore · 27/11/2025 07:34

I recently bought some from M&S very satisfied with them. The same ones as Laundryhepburn

Sparklesandspandexgallore · 27/11/2025 07:36

I also bought some M&S denim shorts in the sale. They are wide leg too and look great on. That was what tempted me to look at their Jean selection.

Who cares if one looks dated - people shouldn't 'move with the times' if they just look a bit silly with loads of material flapping away half way up their legs! They are AWFUL!
