Wide leg jeans

I'm looking for recommendations for wide leg jeans. Up until a year ago I wore skinny jeans and then I got some nice bootcut jeans from M&S but now I want to try wide leg to upgrade my millennial uniform!

I'm relatively slim and average height if that makes a difference...

I’ve got two pairs from M&S and love them. They are so comfy.

GarlicBreadStan · 26/11/2025 04:13

I've recently got some from Matalan and they're the best jeans I've ever worn!

BlueEyedBogWitch · 26/11/2025 04:38

Hush do good ones. Levi Ribcage are great. Also Palome.

Uniqlo drapey flares sit neatly over hips, then gave a good wide leg. They’re a wide-leg, rather than a flare.

I have owned and loved both Monki and Weekday jeans. When you say they've been taken over, does that mean Monki is no more? 😕 I thought they were both owned by the same group as H&M but that Weekday was the older, slightly pricier sister

I’ve treated myself and gone for the wide leg Levi’s. Love them and had a ridiculous amount of compliments.

Expencive, but definitely can see why compared to my other jeans. They have a sale on atm

xanthomelana · 26/11/2025 07:18

I was going to suggest there. They are definitely better in real life than on the website.

Fridgetapas · 26/11/2025 07:20

I’ve got some really nice wide jeans from Next.

Cyclingmummy1 · 26/11/2025 07:24

River Island. And a friend had a pair from Asda when I saw her on Monday. They looked amazing.

Levi’s rib cage - I absolutely love them!

Another vote for the Levi’s rib cage bell jeans, OP. They are so flattering. I’m short and find wide leg jeans make me look shorter and wide. The rib cage bell jeans are tight around the hips and upper thighs and then go into a wide leg which is really flattering to most shapes.

I don’t know. The Monki range is now on the Weekday website and it’s a much smaller range - especially the jeans collection 😔

Still quite a good number of Monki jeans on Asos though, not sure why.

I have these and they’re lovely - quite thin so maybe not very warm for winter. I just wish I’d got a smaller size as they’ve loosened a bit.

I’d definitely size down.

Beefjerky · 26/11/2025 08:54

I like the M&S ones but my favourite are Halara. Super comfy, very flattering, wash well, don’t need ironing. Tired one pair, loved them, bought 4 more!

My DD17 told me I looked like a frumpy middle aged mum in these. I've gone back to my Mango wide leg jeans, the cut just looks a bit more modern.

I also have my eyes on some from Jigsaw that have a twisted seam.

I think a lot is to do with body shape. Jeans can look great on one person and terrible on the next due to shape and fit.

Absolutely. I've got a good athletic bum and legs but developed a tummy after gynae surgery. And the lack of definition around the zip area meant my fat stomach just sort of bulged.

Sad because I used to live in 5 pocket jeggings in the 2010s when I was slim and in my 30s! Love marks jeans!

moggiek · 26/11/2025 09:33

Following a recommendation on here, I bought wide leg from Sainsbury’s. Fabulous jeans!! I’m 5’3”, size 10. Loads of compliments when I wear them.

PistachioTiramisu · 26/11/2025 09:45

The current trend for wide legs/barrel legs/carrot legs is awful - especially if they are short! Honestly, just don't - they don't flatter many people. Stick with what suits you - do you really care about fashion??

Justdancevance · 26/11/2025 09:46

l loved wide leg jeans back in the early 2000’s and then bought the most gorgeous pair from Seven (bought them in NY) and loved them. Theyre such a lovely shape and material and held their colour Dd (16) now wears them.

I got some gorgeous wide leg jeans recently in COS, their proportions just suit my shape but you need to try on as I ended up buying different sizes.

whatever about the jeans, I can’t wear handle the heels anymore🤣

Justdancevance · 26/11/2025 09:49

I’m 5 5 so not tall, Dd is 5 10. It’s just about the proportions of the trousers. I’ve kept those jeans and trousers in the attic so delighted to pull them out, trying to lose a few pounds to fit back into them

WhereAreWeNow · 26/11/2025 09:49

I've got the Uniqlo drapey ones too. I've also got some really nice Abercrombie and Fitch ones (Curve fit so they're nice and snug on the waist but big enough for my wide hips).
I tried the Levi's wide ribcage recently and wanted to love them but they didn't work at all.
I think it's trial and error. The right fit and length is really important - much more so than a pair of stretchy skinnies.

Floisme · 26/11/2025 10:17

I've finally worked out that, with most jeans styles, I can get away with cheap and cheerful brands but that wide leg requires a denim that will both keep its shape but also hang and move nicely. I've not found one that does both yet but the nearest I've got to it was from the Uniqlo U range about 6 or 7 years ago.

Livingthedream1978 · 26/11/2025 10:40

Levi’s Rib Cage are amazing and I’ve had mine for years and still going strong.

i also recently got some New Look Adalae and they are really nice.
