Um no.
My Maggie Greville book has arrived. I'll relay any gossip 😜

Can I please ask the book title and if you'd recommend it? I love a scandalous biography!

Cassiope · 04/12/2025 19:06

I'm with you on the dress. I didn't like it at all. Not the colour, or the fit, or the fecking cape sleeves.
It gives me Disney princess vibes.

eggandonion · 04/12/2025 19:11

Im sure Charlotte would love a chance to try her mum's dress on.

I'm just reading another book at the moment. Will report back when I get stuck in.

According to the Mail, the blue of Kate's dress is the same shade as the German national flower

Cornflower. Same colour as tanzanite.

When was it last worn?

The Court Jeweller site says it was the last tiara QEII wore in public, she wore it to the Diplomatic reception in December 2019.

It's a most extraordinary piece, and the fact that there are 3 different variations of it and they're all spectacular is the best bit.

My least favourite is probably the original pearls, simply because there are other dangly pearl tiaras like the Lovers' Knot. The emeralds are stunning, esp in this photo https://www.scottishfield.co.uk/culture/portrait-of-queen-elizabeth-ii-against-stunning-balmoral-landscape-to-go-on-display/

and I think the naked version would be absolutely amazing with a really severe, plain dress, possibly black. It needs a signal that the wearer is deliberately removing the "pretty" elements.

Dear Anne

Recycling is not always a good idea.

Yeah - I admire Princess Anne for her rewears but this one needs to be pensioned off!

Unfortunately it looked less like a re wear and more
like a recycled quilted mattress cover 🤪

Cassiope · 05/12/2025 07:46

Does anyone know what Sophie had on her feet for the banquet? At first glance at the toe peeping out from below her dress in the photo of the procession it looks almost as if she's wearing her favourite espadrille wedges in gold! I'm sure she wasn't, but it has made me curious.

RomainingCalm · 05/12/2025 08:03

@Cassiope Royal Fashion Daily has identified them as LK Bennett Glitter Sledge Pumps. They were a rewear.

This is the best photo I have seen of her shoes - Crystal encrusted platform courts. I don’t think anyone has ID’d them.

Choux · 05/12/2025 08:11

I think it’s crystals not glitter although the shoe style is similar to the Sledge. The heel is a bit different though.

eggandonion · 05/12/2025 09:33

I want crystal encrusted shoes now. I wonder where I could wear them.
I like the fact that the men have special outfits too. I suppose it would be sexist if they had orders and ladies didn't.
When's the next state visit?

I wonder, she seems sporty and outdoorsy. I have a DD around Charlotte's age, who would roll her eyes at the fancy gowns and tiaras then go find a football to kick about.

eggandonion · 05/12/2025 10:14

My dd is closer in age to Kate than Charlotte...she would love to try on the bling.

My daughter was the same, she's an adult now, but never into the Disney princess thing, just not interested. All girls are different.

It's also possible to be both - to be sporty and enjoy outdoorsy things and love dressing up.

This is me! The best thing about playing football at Uni? Playing football. The second best thing about playing football at Uni? Getting to glam up for the sports societies ball. ⚽👗💄👠

My daughter is a competitive swimmer. She puts on a full face of make up before training and competition! She says feeling made up and glamorous makes her more confident in the pool. She loves dressing up, it’s a different sparkly dress every weekend at the moment for all the 18th birthday parties.

I hope my DC will grow into loving to dress up, because I love it, and I would like to share that with her. But so far, not so much.

Charlotte may love it, she will get actual diamond tiara's not plastic and perfectly fitted amazing gowns. On the other hand at the moment dressing up for her is classic, conservative, often old fashioned dresses that most young girls and woman would struggle with.
