I like Sophie’s dress. I don’t even mind the colour as it has good texture and she has contrasted it with the boots in this iteration. I must say I love a good jumper dress. Pull it over your head and you’re done. So cosy and comfy as pp have said, yet still pulled together

justasking111 · 02/12/2025 18:34

I love her boots. I'm neutral on knitted dresses, but I think Sophie looks better in winter white than biscuit.

ExquisiteDresses · 02/12/2025 18:52

I like Sophie’s dress, I am sure it would cling in all the wrong places on me but she carries it very well (probably got an expensive slip or similar underneath it). Elegant and perfect for the time of year.

Pallisers · 02/12/2025 21:58

Oh all of Max's outfits are fantastic.

Sophie's coat and hat were woeful - like she borrowed them from someone in a hurry - but I love her wool dress and biscuity combinations - looks great on her.

Choux · 02/12/2025 22:12

Max’s first outfit in Suriname was quite revealing for a reigning queen on an official overseas visit. Apparently Willem-Alexander co piloted the flight there from the Netherlands.

Someone mentioned a few days ago about knee length looking a bit dated and I think both the pinky red outfit and the yellow do look a little dated. The red would benefit from a few more inches. The yellow outfit (which is 10 years old) is more retro in general and has a skirt split that would look strange in a longer length but it isn’t a modern looking silhouette.

interestingly all the day outfits worn so far are Natan I think. Not sure about the evening dress. But it’s unusual for a tour to feature one designer so heavily. But then Max and Mathilde both seem to worship at the Natan altar.

I think Max's first outfit is fine. It's not like it's cut down to her navel!

Agree re the red and yellow now that you mention it. You could've told me the yellow pic was from 2015 and I'd have believed you.

The German state visit is tomorrow? Will the king speak in German? It's mostly Windsor at the moment. I think Windsor would be my preference if I was a visiting signatory.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 03/12/2025 07:44

It's Windsor regardless of preferences as Buckingham Palace is still undergoing renovation and repair works! That probably works quite well for Charles as he doesn't have to give up the comforts of Clarence House either.

Cassiope · 03/12/2025 08:18

Won't be outdoor grown flowers this time. I wonder what the King has in his greenhouses (unheated or heated?)? If he sticks to a seasonal approach we'll get lots of berries, evergreen foliage and bulbs coaxed into flowering late or early. There are plenty of dramatic amaryllids... I don't know how easy it would be, but loads of Nerines would be spectacular, because the petals are actually iridescent and would sparkle. If I had his budget I'd have potted dwarf Cyclamen persicum for the place settings, because they have elegantly shaped flowers and beautifully marked foliage that really deserve to be admired close up, but pots, however decorative, are probably verboten for a state banquet. If he's a galantophile it might be snowdrops...

eggandonion · 03/12/2025 08:30

Nobody seems to like Buckingham Palace. I wonder what the future holds for it. It's handy for the balcony and grand set pieces like a wedding and the garden parties. I still prefer a proper castle like Windsor!

deeahgwitch · 03/12/2025 09:07

It seems I’m a galantophile - I had to look it up 😂
I don’t collect them though , just like them and plant a few every year.

I look forward to your review of the flowers and table decorations almost as much as the gowns and tiaras! Looking forward to seeing some pictures later.

I can’t see William moving his family into Buckingham Palace so I too suspect that it will increasingly just be used for state banquets, garden parties, big events and other occasions.

it wouldn’t surprise me if more and more of it isn’t opened to the public and used for exhibitions.

She looks fine - appropriate for the occasion but nothing too exciting, which I guess is as it should be. In some photos it looks like there's a bird atop her hat that's about to fly off!

Hopefully we'll get some good gownage tonight.

Indianrollerbird · 03/12/2025 12:39

Camilla is also in blue with a feathered hat. Perhaps there’s a theme.

Yes it’s fine for a chilly winters day and a formal activity. I hope she is thinking “ I’ll play it safe in the daytime, but knock their socks off at the dinner”!!

RuncibleSpoons · 03/12/2025 12:53

Camilla and Kate both looking nice in blue.

bluegreygreen · 03/12/2025 13:58

Very much like the Queen's coat but it looks like the neck has caught a little on the right in photos - it's not sitting flat.

bluegreygreen · 03/12/2025 14:45

Should have said I love the feathers on her hat, though prefer the PoW's hat generally

ExquisiteDresses · 03/12/2025 14:47

That shade of blue really suits the Queen. Catherine looks nice too but the blue isn't as wow on her.

MrsLeonFarrell · 03/12/2025 15:55

Loving their hats. I'm not a fan of that shade of blue but apparently it's called Berlin Blue.

BasiliskStare · 03/12/2025 15:57

I think Camilla suits that vibrant blue really well. I do think Camilla suits a big hat - ie a proper hat with a proper brim - and I know they aren't necessarily fashionable but I think she suits them. I have to say I think Camilla ( apart from the odd shirt dress which I haven't been keen on ) has Queen Consortly dressing down to a T. There is a photo I can't just find now but others will remember it of Camilla in a blue caped evening gown with a stunning sapphire necklace. (Was it in France? )

Oh Hello (you'll see what I did there 😂) have found photo of dress and necklace via the medium of Google https://www.hellomagazine.com/fashion/royal-style/502938/queen-camilla-custome-dior-queen-elizabeth-sapphire-suite/

Queen Camilla’s beauty is a spectacle in Dior gown and £5 million-worth of late Queen's jewels

King Charles and Queen Camilla defied expectations at the Palace of Versailles, with the Queen wearing bespoke Dior and Queen Elizabeth II's diamond and sapphire suite - worth £5,000,000.

Camilla has fabulous big hair!

Harassedevictee · 03/12/2025 16:50

I love that sapphire set and the tiara. It must be wonderful to wear such magnificent jewels.

The Dior dress and cape are lovely.
