Think the pink hat looks like felt rather than straw.
You're right, now that I look properly, but styled like a summer straw hat, so still a bad idea.

She got so much criticism when she wore other shapes.

The whole "weighted skirt" debate when she wore above the knee

The faux outrage when she showed legs in the red outfit

I can understand her playing it safe

Agree she got called an exhibitionist in some newspaper columns because she wore a skirt that was caught by the wind (I’m trying to remember where, possibly Australia?) and we got a flash of royal pants, which was on the back of her topless photos from sunbathing on a balcony in a private house unaware she was in range of the nastier paps.

I think since then she’s played it very safe and dressed much older /conservative. She clearly has a “work wardrobe” that’s focussed on being appropriate not fashionable.

CurlewKate · 01/12/2025 10:45

I thought the hat looked summery too in style and colour if not in material. Is it possible that the DofE lost weight during her travels and that’s why the coat looked a bit odd?

Thanks, @Pallisers . Some beautiful gowns and lovely tiaras
Interesting to see Albert Windsor there!

Is it the German state banquet on Wed?

Chesticles · 02/12/2025 08:28

All the royals (except the British ones) seem to be really busy and out and about at the moment. Willem and max are in Suriname (lucky things) max looks fabulous in all 3 outfits (all on the same day!) and finishes off with the lovely Dutch diamond bandeau. I love that tiara.

That is Max at her fabulous best - I love all of those outfits!

Chesticles · 02/12/2025 10:22

And the Monacans (is that correct? like Morrocans but Monaco?) also out and about looking Christmassy. I like all of Charlene's outfits here too. I must be in a good mood today!

I forgot to add the 4th outfit (actually 1st, her arrival outfit) from Max! I also really like this one.

They're the Monegasques. Or just the Grimaldis. Yes, great work there both from Max and Charlene.

justasking111 · 02/12/2025 10:50

Max looking fabulous again. Charlene looking much better too.

justasking111 · 02/12/2025 10:51

My favourite stone. I wonder where it all is now

Max really seems to thrive when she visits warmer countries. All of those are great looks on her. Is the caped outfit a dress or a jumpsuit? Because with her, both are possible!

eggandonion · 02/12/2025 13:17

The aquamarine are pretty.
The British royals are busy behind the scenes...Sophie has taken her coat to the dry cleaners for a good press. Kate is sorting the carol service. Their majesties are preparing for the German visit and Christmas.
And the Zelenskis are in Ireland and tend to pop in to visit the king.

Lunde · 02/12/2025 13:58

I think William was in Wales yesterday - the British press don't seem to cover much of his work.

At the same time??? That would be very Max

Good it wasn't a particularly impressive endeavour.

Cassiope · 02/12/2025 17:20

Sophie has been out and about in an entire bakery's worth of gourmand neutrals. I love a knitted bodycon dress in real wool - and I'm delighted that she's wearing a pendant, but I am not sure that so much oatmeal ('biscuity beige' according to the gushing fashion writer at Woman and Home) suits fair-haired women. Her boots are 'toasted pecan' or 'gingerbread' suede, depending on who you read. The coat was impeccable but dull and yes, beige.

I think she should have hitched her dress up just a little to show the top of her boots (or worn shorter boots), but my aesthetic preference seems to be out of tune with the prevailing trend.

I quite like it though, plus the slouchy boots and alligator bag.
Nice looks from Max, particularly that last dress.

OP posts:
Cassiope · 02/12/2025 17:29

I find it quite hard not to like that style of dress - elegant, cozy and comfortable, what more could a woman want from a winter dress?

Maireas · 02/12/2025 17:32

Yes, I like knitted dresses, that's a nice one.
