The shoes look interesting, the dress too uniform like. Catherine today in London

I like it! It's quite sculptural in design, and a departure for her. Nicer than the usual midi dress style that she wears.

Don’t love the dress.

But her handbag today prompted me to order a DeMellier bag and they have 20% off, so I’m happy.

Maireas · 27/11/2025 17:06

Emilia Wickstead dress, grey mock croc shoes and a brown DeMellier bag.

I really wish Kate wouldnt wear her dresses so long. They seem to swamp her. I quite like the dress though

KiIIingMeDeftly · 27/11/2025 17:12

Has she worn that dress before? It looks familiar. She looks good and I like the non-matching accessories!

Maireas · 27/11/2025 17:16

I don't think it's a re-wear Deftly, but I could be wrong. I like the mismatched accessories look as well.

It is a rewear, different belt.

Thanks, @themessygarden . You were right, @KiIIingMeDeftly - of course 😊!
I think it looks better today, with the different shoes, belt and bag.

Pfff. I don’t like how very high that neck is on Kate’s dress but it’s professional and does the job. It seems looser now hut not by too much.

Her bag is lovely.

Catherine’s one is not in stock, I do love it !

I bought the Vancouver style.

Cassiope · 27/11/2025 17:42

Don't like the prissy neckline, but she has worn worse collars. Agree with @Sidebeforeself about the length, not least because it wouldn't hobble her stride as much at knee-skimming length - but at least it's a change from her usual shape (yay!). I much prefer the dress with the wider belt she wore today.

Maireas · 27/11/2025 17:48

I think knee length would look a bit dated.
The longer length and slim cut is a bit more modern. I like the collar, it wouldn't work if it was any smaller.

OP posts:
Cassiope · 27/11/2025 18:06

I know everything is longer now, but with the narrower cut - which I do like - I think you have to go shorter or add a slit or two for movement. I just don't like dresses and skirts that force the wearer to mince along - in my book mincing is terminally out of fashion, whereas I'm sure hems will rise again!

To be honest, I don't think hem length necessarily makes an outfit look dated - for me it's more about the look as a whole - and today's chocolate suede bag (beautiful) is surely very 2025...

Lunde · 27/11/2025 18:31

Kate wore that dress to Harvard University in 2022 IIRC

Love Leti's tiara and Chelsy's wedding dress

I saw her walking in it today and she certainly didn't "mince", so I'm guessing there was enough movement in it.

My only criticism of PoW's dress is that she needs to get it adjusted to take account of the weigh she lost with her illness. The fit was better in 2022.

@Maireas Fair enough. I have to admit that it looks more generously cut in the photo where she's standing still - but also less stylish.
I'm just bored of modest, conservative dresses. I want a variety of shapes and hem lengths. Mini length seems to be ever-present, but I'm guessing that as a princess and mother of three Kate has decided her mini-wearing days are behind her. Maybe she could try a bubble hem?

Maireas · 27/11/2025 19:29

Some nice Christmas ideas there, @Chesticles !

She got so much criticism when she wore other shapes.

The whole "weighted skirt" debate when she wore above the knee

The faux outrage when she showed legs in the red outfit

I can understand her playing it safe

Maireas · 27/11/2025 19:41

Good points, @Lunde
