SOTD . Tobacco veloute- L’artisan perfumer

This is a nice NYC winter walk one. All vanilla at the base and smoky at the top. I think a last year liberty kit?

MiaN · 19/11/2025 18:33

La Bomba as after work scent.

Sexentric · 19/11/2025 18:43

Hi can I join you all please? Have to share my excitement (because nobody IRL will care!!) of going into a small independent chemist today - to pick up some Hedrin after getting the dreaded email from school that there's headlice going round - and found a bottle of Prada's L'eau Ambree. So excited. Haven't seen that in years and used to be a favourite. Am half thinking of going back after payday to see if they also have Amber Tendre which I miss too.

Yes, I have that one and it's definitely a winter scent, been languishing 'on the bench' since last winter but maybe time to dig it out again.

Of course - wow what a find, did you get it for a good price?

SOTE is narciso rodriguez all of me intense, from the perfume shop AC. I like this one, would describe it as fruity but with a creamy, vanilla base. I didn't like the other NR, for her, which was very floral. This is quite season-appropriate - it has a fruity top note but is not too fruity or tangy.

Decided the Orabella 'alcohol free' perfumes by Bella Hadid are not for me. The texture is.... slimy. It's more like a body oil that you rub in, I think they are stretching it to say it's a perfume.

Luckily I only opened one, night cap, which is alright smell wise, like a dark spicy vanilla - the other 2 which are sealed will go on ebay.

I can only really use this on my body, at night, it's far too slippery for daytime use on the hand. And despite being alcohol free that doesn't mean irritation free, I've not found them irritating but I have read reviews where some people have. So not a great blind buy!

Well not an especially good price.they were £95 for the 100ml I think but its too close to payday / Christmas for me to spend that much so just hit 30mls for £59. I was happy with that though 😁

Our trip was cut short so I’m back and testing samples again. Today is nest creme de clementine. Literally the scent of a creamsicle. Very obviously orange and cream, and that’s all there is to it. It’s very linear and not that interesting but it smells nice. I don’t think there’ll be an occasion that I want to smell like this though. Will make a nice room spray. On the other wrist is commodity milk. Surprisingly my first time testing this, considering it’s quite a popular scent, especially in edits and such like. I’m a little confused by this. I was expecting milky marshmellowy goodness. A gourmand type of scent but I don’t really get milk from it at all? It’s also very faint despite it being the expressive. Not sure. Will test again and I don’t get quite this one.

paristotokyo · 20/11/2025 04:30

Oh I wish I could buy this. If I was in the UK I wouldn’t have hesitated at that price! My relative is already bringing me the liberty scent kit plus another kit and a gwp, so I can’t possibly make her also pack an advent 😂

MiaN · 20/11/2025 06:58

I didn’t find Laundry Day perfume particularly special, and the faulty sprayer makes it feel a bit cheap. The scent leans heavily citrus, so I’ll give it another try in warmer weather. Overall, I don’t love it—it reminds me of D&G Light Blue, but less fresh and happy, more sour and a bit screechy.

The HN discounts are tempting, but I’ve caught the “too much stuff” bug and really want to downsize. I want to be more mindful with my purchases.

MiaN · 20/11/2025 07:19

I had Prada Amber in the past, another perfume I repurchased. Great find.

I got SpaceNK beauty as birthday present in September.
I bought Harvey Nichols, Perfume Shop, Space NK, and Look Fantastic fragrance and the Liberty set.
In addition of several perfume purchases, such as velvet aura, turn the page etc...

I am well ready to stop buying and give my favourites some will deserved attention.

Lurkingshark · 20/11/2025 07:23

Speaking of which @MiaN velvet aura was back in stock online last night….

MiaN · 20/11/2025 07:25

I think I am good on that front, I already have few backups.

The scents themselves aren't big. If your relative ditches the box they'd transport easily.

OvaHere · 20/11/2025 08:15

The Flannels perfume edits are also reduced. £10 of the women's and £14 off the men's.

£6.99 delivery charge though 😕

That’s true but I dont think she will be impressed with me asking for yet more precious luggage space :)

Im new to fragrance. Can I ask what gourmand and oud mean? Thanks x

paristotokyo · 20/11/2025 12:02

@Doglover73oud is a fragrant resin produced by a tree. I believe when the tree is infected, this produces the sap which in turn becomes the hardened resin. It has a very specific smell. It’s very woody and earthy and not everyone likes it as it’s quite strong. Common in Arab fragrances. And gourmand when used to describe a fragrance basically means those that are inspired by food, something usually sweet and edible. So these perfumes may have a lot of vanilla, caramel, coffee, that type of thing.

Ooo thank you for this. I like oud and it's so weird to think it's just an infected tree 🤣
